  • I'm very new to grilling and would like some advice. I have a bbq with an offset smoker, I never see these guys using one so I wonder if it is good for smoking ribs? Also I have a hell of time maintaining my temp. The temp so far is what I think I have the most problems with. Any advice for a beginner would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!!!

  • Dear pit boys, do your coals stay hot and at the same temp for 3 hours? or do you top up with coals?

  • @drmarrese101 ...This one only used 1.5 chimney fulls. It all depends on your type of grill, ambient temperature, amount of meat you're smokin', how many times you lift that lid to check it out or mop...If you need to bring up the temp a bit, just add some pre-lit charcoal and then re-adjust your vents!

  • for 3 hours? That's no good, you want to slow cook that as much as possible. Many people do it for minimum of like 7 hours. My cousin does it for 8 to10 hours, he wakes up at around 4 or 5 in the morning and starts.

  • @MegaDeathwarrant ..8-10 hours? Spare Ribs? lol For a brisket, yeah. But, sorry dude, tell Cousin he might want to shorten his low and slow if he wants a real moist and tender rib and not jerky!

  • I made this yesterday and I gotta thank the BBQ Pit Boys for teaching me how to make these ribs. It came out as good as advertised.

  • Great recipe as always... I know you guys were talkin down precookin the ribs before putting them on the grill. Well if I found a way to precook them a little and they taste as good, and when you are outside making ribs in a MN Winter and its -40 degrees, you look for shortcuts where you can. I cook them slowly in many many spices, about a bottle of brandy and then enough water to cover the racks in the pot. Do that an hour, and then slow smoke them about another hour tastes just awesome!!

  • How do you keep the fire hot? I don't see you adding Charcoal, If i fill the starter I can get around 300 for about 2 hours, after that the temp drops off really fast.

  • As I said I would...I made these ribs this weekend. The were GUD! The only thing I added was some finely chopped up onions under the bacon.

    I also chopped up the bacon and used it in baked potatoes.

  • I pretty much watch your videos every day and this has been my favourite so far. I love the trade mark thumbs up and "It's GUD!" things you do but you seem to have toned it down a bit and made more of an effort to just focus on explaining how to make the ribs.

  • Another classic vid my friends. I'm no pro Q'r by any means but many a time after watchin' your vids I get out there and cook something up. Apparently (according to my friends & better half) I make a pretty mean King & Sockeye salmon. I like to go down to our woods here and find some alder twigs to throw onto the coals for a nice lil added smoke flavor.

  • @Globez123 No, you want to put the barbecue sauce on the last 30 mins or so, because it will just burn up. It takes too long to cook the meat.

  • hey guys, I've been doing my ribs wrapped in tin foil for about 2/3 of cooking time.

    My end result is the meat falls off the bone. I notice ya'll just put it in the cooker, so does your end result entail the meat falling right off, or do these require a lot of gnawing on the bone? Just wondering b4 I ruin 2 racks!

  • @bugsycline Contrary to popular belief, you do not want your meat to "fall off the bone" You want to find that sweet spot where you can actually take a bite out of a rib, and not have the whole bone slide away from the meat. I apologize, it's hard to describe in words, but do you get what I mean?
