Why does this music always have to make me cry?

It's a hard-packed mix of sadness, nostalgia and overjoy. All three of those at their max usually bring tears to my eyes. Guess it shows how well this soundtrack was composed.

So beautiful I cry while I think about Aerith's death. This theme is so tragic, beautiful, hopeful, sad and happy at the same time. A great work from Nobuo Uematsu. His style lacks in the recent FF games.

i could be wrong, but as far as i'm concerned nobuo-sensei no longer composed any music for final fantasy series or for square-enix after ffx. maybe what you feel is lacking is his special touch in the music / ost in the recent ff games.

You're right. He left to focus on his band The Black Mages after FFX. He did help on the intro to FFXII, though. But that's the only thing since then regarding to Squeenix. However, he recently did Lost Odyssey and it is truly amazing.
