If you want to share videos with unlimited obscenities, unlimited time, and "strangeness" of quality, I suggest uploading to Banana6(dot)com.
DJBrokenHigh, that is the best place for me, but I don't recommend watching videos there because of its stark obscurity and horrible playlists. By the way, I know that you [probably] know this already, but the limit has been surpassed to 15 minutes. {6:
Well, if a video is longer than 10 minutes and it's in not in AVI format it's under 2GB. No one uploads Windows Movie Maker movies in AVI format anymore. WMV format all the way.
2 years have been passed, since this video was uploaded (I watched this more often), and now Google doesn't want to listen?
Well, Google never listened, but I've suggested them to remove the 10 minute limit (together with some other features), along with some friends of mine, they didn't listen at all, and now they removed the suggestions!
youtube gets alot of bandwidth each month from millions of streaming videos, the 10 minute limit helps refuce that cost. or do you want youtube to have a costly membership?
I will if you tell them to bring back the old youtube. I don't think it is fair for them to limit what someone says in the description. If they want to save money, that is the worse way to do it and the least cost effective.
sorry guys but this is simply a marketing scheme. every time you click a video, commercials pop up, the more videos you click the more revenue they get from sponsors.
so anyone can upload a video past 10 min but it has to be under 2 gb... every movie i downloaded thats 1 1/2 - 2 hours is 700 mb -1 gb and its in a ok quality so couldent they upload becouse from what iv heared a video can be uploaded past the 10 min limit as long as it's under 2 gb but you can go past the 2 gb limit if the video is under 10 min so youtube does give you a option to go past the 10 min limit but under a rule that it must be under 2 gb and p.s. the feed back option is gone.
I agree with the dude below they only way someone could use 2 GB in 10 mins is if they were uploading in something like avi(which noboy does) and even then at a fairly large res
Computers do NOT care about the time a video takes, they only care about the amount of space. My position is neutral on the amount of MB or GB Youtube allows, but my position on the time limit is that it should be...
...infinite!
I could upload videos up to 2 hours and still take only 90% of the 2 GB limit.
Apparently you are unaware the amount of server space youtube has to dedicate to host these videos. Giving everyone the option of uploading infinitely sized videos for FREE would ruin youtube (financially).
tell that to all the people who make YouTube Poop. Not that I wouldn't care.
Oh BTW I know server space isn't free noobie. I build & program computers for a living. But the programmers of this site get their salaries from the ads. Learn marketing moron! Oh plus in high school, I worked with the network technologists at my school. So I know how dynamic servers work & how it affects server space.
Disposable50 is 100% correct. Everybody would start uploading videos 15min, 30min, mabye even hours long and unless Youtube starts to charge for hosting, then the bandwith costs would skyrocket and youtube would go out of bussiness. You can't please all the people all the time.
Youtube already has a 2GB limit. What's the difference between posting five 10 minute videos that are exactly 2 GB and posting one 50 minute video that's 2 GBs. Sounds to me like Youtube gets the advantage there.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You guys just dont get it, longer videos means youtube needs to pay more for it's bandwidth, and youtube is already in a financial crisis right now, so yeah, you guys are just lucky youtube hasnt made it 5 minutes.
I noticed manyy administrator accounts have the option of uploading vids longer than 10 min. I guess if you work for YouTube they waiver the 10 min limit
I thought they were going to eliminate the 10 min limiter when they said you could upload 1GB videos. But no, it just makes perfect sense to increase the upload size 10x and make no new useful applications for it.
Google has been involved with YouTube for quite some--ever since they began the 10 min limit actually. But those ads help pay the programmers & server executives in their industry.
i hate the ten minute limit but i can see why its there. We dont pay for youtube so the least we can do is just simply spit the videos but that is annoying tho!
I just watched the entire movie of Beetlejuice on this site. It was divided into 11 parts due to the time limit. Oh wait! 2 people upload the same movie. I guess my Favorites can speak for themselves lol The system fails.
More parts, more views. So Viacom's stupid charges against google gave some of us more views, not me, but others. Frankly, anyone can upload up to 11:00 exactly.
And actually there are full movies NOT split apart on youtube. And they are not uploaded by partners or old director accounts. So there is a way to bypass it, but no-one seems to know how, and the ones that do, aren't telling.
I have a theory on how they do it to: It must a SQL injection of some sort. People can fool servers if they understand SQL code that runs the websites.
I really hope my tutorial changes YouTube. I have good reasons for why the 10 min limit has got to go:
I hate the 10 min limit! It boils my blood! Its as pointless & annoying as the DRMs. Sometimes I wish I could upload a 20 min mix session I created, but because of the 10 minute, I can't mix certain songs I want. It sucks! And spliting the video into 2 or more parts will just ruin the mix session. The time limit forces me to butcher the mixes :(
Seriously....WTF @ "the world is not about you"??? Was that insult really necessary?
I am not a asshole. And I make videos only for the personal satisfaction. And actually its is about YOU, that's why they call it YOUtube! Your suppose to broadast YOUR work.
Most of the songs I have are between 6-7 min long. I try to fit at least 2 in each session, but I wish I could fit mor, but I can't due to the 10 min limit. I don't mix mainstream songs cause they suck.

why don't they just have a 15 second commercial appear every 10 minutes... that would be fine with me

I don't know why some videos in Youtube are even 30 minutes long! Why were they allowed??!?!?
I even saw a 1 hour vid in Youtube! But why aren't we allowed to post videos longer than 10 minutes?
I hope Youtube rids the limit soon.
Or at least give some exceptions to people who upload 11 minute videos.
It's just 1 minute after all. :\
