Imagine thousands apon thousands of British Taranis and United States Phantom Ray aircraft patrolling the skies. The Special Relationship would dominate the worlds airspace for decades. Chinese J-20 and Russian Sukhoi T-50 aircraft would not stand a chance in hell against such advanced unmanned weaponry.
I (and others) have seen this thing flying over my house on two occasions once in the evening when I just saw its outline against the clouds, and once in the early morning with a Typhoon escort!!! Then again I live around 25 miles from the plant where they unveiled the prototype in June and around 8 miles from the plant that builds the air intake assembly. But BAE says it wont fly till late 2012, in Australia!! Must've been a ufo then!!!!
Well that a good uav or more like a ucas maybe but the funny thing is that ucas can be stealth but when ti comes to the topic of stealth fighters f-35 is not a stealth jet! Stealth than becomes an unexisting thing!
Because if it does you have to admit that its better than eurofighter...
So my question is how does this ucas have sth doesnt exist!?
The UK debut the Taranis prototype and then promptly retire their Harrier fleet...(and take aim at Tornado for retirement)....Hmmmm....the USA had the F117 up and running for year's before we found out...Is Taranis already "online"?.....
it seems an old version of Neuron, anyway, Italy, UK, sweedish, spain and france are in the project. France (dassault) has the global project and integration managments. Dassault is the only having advanced stleath capabilities anyway, sweedish best avionics, italy for optics and sensors, UK and spain for engines and other stuff...
this will raise many problems in the future cuz of the unmaned part... and i'm not thinking of the movie where the unmaned plane gets hit by lighting and goes nuts (but it may happen) but still it's too good to be true...(wants to see it in action)
@MrWineandcheese They were both started at the same time so immposible to be "an ugly copy of the dasault neuron". And anyways the French have a habit of signing up for partnerships on new technology then leaving said agreement and ripping off what they like when they leave. So its payback! And anyways, all stealth technology looks the same anyway so why are you not accusing the dasault of copying the stealth fighter (which when compared too is the uglier one!)
Beautiful unmanned plan. Tip my hat to the Brits. They built a beauty. I look forward to the next American version too now that its become vital in modern warefare (no not the game).
I say put that black vampire bat in active duty right away!
Its a great plane. But it wont be supersonic. And also we can beat stealth. If we do drop this project atleast we still have Eurofighter. Yes the UCAV looks a better craft. But if you watch the MBDA Meteor vid it shows who is on top. We will build a few of these planes in the future because they are on our list. Plus we do need a advanced stealth plane.
@conza410 Every project of this type in the world is still in its early stages. There are no combat-ready planes like this anywhere yet. Just because its just a prototype doesnt mean it won't reach production.
Edi is the whole idea.

It seems the nEUROn, x47 and Taranis are all very similar developments - no coincidence? Are there any others out there like them being developed?

If it's been developed in the UK by BAE Systems, why does it look EXACTLY like the American X-47B UAV?
