20%... $300 a bi-week... $600 a month... $7,200 a year... over 10 years $72,000... keep it up for 40 years (hopefully till you retire at 60) $288,000. Now thats a nice nest egg! Hopefully you get a raise and or put any returns into it, your looking at over $350,000! Now if you have a 401.k (cause its Tax free) and your lucky to have a match, with a stedy return from the 401.k... that could be $500,000+ at maturity!
One of the best ways to pay yourself first is by buying a few ounces of ,999 silver each paycheck! As your stack builds up you will get addicted to saving true money and will increase your wealth as the price of silver continues to go up! Prices have doubled over the last year but are still affordable enough for the average person to buy!
@cloaknpoke never think it is impossible! It may take2-3 years to fix your finances, but what you need is discipline and to keep your eyes on the prize. Don't you always wonder why some people who earn 6 figures end up broke but people who started out earning $20,000 end up millionaires? Set your priorities. No one need all the stuff society tells us we need.
@ugboy1 Oh I agree w/ you. It's better to hope and believe and fight for something than give up. Absolutely right what a person needs actually is very little and why there are income levels based around minimum standard of living and such.

This is the problem I have right now. I'm going to try w/ 10% but I've made poor decisions in the past that I'm trying to make up for now.
Pretty much I'm trying to get out of living paycheck to paycheck but once you're there it's very hard to get out of.
