  • This is like the movie, Full Metal Jacket.......only in space.

  • best speach in entire game

  • Little known fact:

This is exactly how Isaac Newton wanted his discoveries to be used.

  • This is how i actualy passed part of a physics test i took back a few months ago.

  • Space = Epic.

    Science = Lulz.

Space + Science = Serious Business.

Therefore: Epic Lulz = Serious Business.

  • "Sir Isaac Newton is the deadliest son of a bitch in space" might just be one of the most awesome sci-fi quotes of all time.

  • i like how its serviceman Chung a asian/pacificislander? lol

  • You are not a cowboy, you are a space cowboy!

  • KE= M/2 * V^2 For the win!

  • I used to be a cowboy, but then I took a 20-kilo ferrous slug to the knee

  • although i found the scene amusing, the reality is that the bullet would not accelerate for infinity . it would just sink into the gravitational pull of a large body like a star or a sun where it would impact

  • @Xkilluminati76 provided it came under the influence of such a body, space (as it says in the introduction to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) is big. REALLY big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly bit it is (and so on..)

    it's also rather.. empty

  • @Xkilluminati76 "accelerate for infinity" what? Newtons first law chap. No force, no acceleration. And if you are far enough from a disturbing body you can basicly ignore it. Also, travelling at that speed, just about anything, even a star is only going to deflect the shell on a hyperbolic orbit. Unless it actually is heading straight dead on for the star in question.

  • @Xkilluminati76 I think 1/3 the speed of light is faster than the escape velocity of pretty much anything out there, with the possible exception of a neutron star or a black hole. Odds are it will hit something and fragment the force over a bunch of objects a few billion trillion light years away. Space is pretty empty.

  • "You are not a cowboy shooting from the hip!"

LMAO!! how did they come up with that? xD

  • I'd imagine that they'd have the technology to watch the giant laser beam traveling through space and be able to say, "look, bitches, this is where said giant laser beam is headed, stay the fuck out of its way."

  • "Sir Isaac Newton is the deadliest son of a bitch in space!"

    Amen! :D

  • Good to know we still practice gun safety in the future! :D

  • This makes me glad my last name is Newton.

  • Isn't it true that it's actually far more likely that the projectile ends up catching into the orbit / eventually colliding with some massive object like a black hole or star than hitting a tiny little planet or spaceship?

  • No he's not, Shepard is

  • @MandaloreTheAdenn And the Doctor is deadlier than that. Mass Effect 3's whole FUCKING-REAPERS-FUCKING-EVERYWHERE thing would just be another day at the office for him.

  • Calibrations. In 10,000 years, the planet that doesn't get blown up will praise all the time Garrus put into them.

  • And im getting the t shirt

  • The greatest game on earth

  • And this is why the Mass Effect series is one of my favorite ever, of all time.

  • Serviceman Chung- Attempting to line up a shot*

Gunnery Chief- PRIVATE WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING?

Serviceman Chung- I..I just figured I'd eyeball it.

  • I wonder if Garrus needs to work with further calibrations after knowing that deadly fact.

  • 1.3% of the speed of light= 3 897 301.95 m / s

  • @protoknight25 nooo.... the speed of light is around 300 000 000 m/s... and 1.3% is about 1/70 of that

  • 5 people are cowboys shooting from the hip.

  • THIS IS A WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION!

He says as a guy wearing a portable version of that weapon stands around in the background.

  • With proper timing, typing any other number followed by "3" while watching this video will result in lulz! That includes "3" itself. You have been warned.

  • In some afterlife~

Newton- Ha im the Deadliest son of bitch in space. Take that Einstein!

Einstein- Oh zip it Newton, your only deadly because of my Theory of Light Speed.

Newton- Oh go back into your can Albert! XD

  • I love this scene, but I always wonder about its origins. Why is this drill instructor-type barkin' at two soldiers on the Citadel about this? What's the context of this speech, given its location? It sounds like he should be giving this speech at a podium in a "Physics of Space Warfare 101" class. But he ain't. He's on the Citadel. In the parking lot. Chewin' two dudes out. You know servicemen Chung and Burnside just blew some serious shit up by accident like twenty minutes prior.

  • @thesam00 judging from how he was like " We do NOT eye ball it Serviceman Chung" Chung probably screwed something up and brought upon an impromptu lesson

  • Yeah, Serviceman Chung. You ass.

  • Thumbs up if you got here form the gizmodo site... shooting at 99942 Apophis

  • I should show this video to my physics teacher.

  • 1% the speed of light is 6,706,166mph. That's fucking fast.

  • Apophis is not an asteroid, it's a present the Reapers left us 10,000 years ago.

  • 1 - 1.3% of light speed isn't a variable speed of the bullet - you guys are hearing it wrong.

"[The gun] accelerates one (of those slugs) to 1.3% of light speed." is how it should be heard.

  • Poor Serviceman Chung...His mistake, our entertainment.

  • Newton - so badass, he got a unit of force measurement named after him.

Pretty soon, we will hear of the Shepard unit of force. :))

  • @saygoodnightmanuel Indeed. I propose that the Shepard be the standard amount of force required to destroy a Reaper.

  • this whole scene is pure genius, i laughed my ass off.

  • Thumbs up if you came here from Tvtropes. :D

  • @alexnobody1 ...seriously. Why?

  • @alexnobody1 i came here from the citadel, and this is the best everyones favorite video on that station

  • what part of the game is this? I have never seen this. Is this from 1 or 2?

  • @jacynolen its on number 2, hes stood outside the entrance to the citadel

  • 8.08879654x10^12 joules

Kinetic energy of an object with a mass of 20 kg traveling between 1% to 1.3% of the speed of light

    Courtesy of Google Calculator

  • @ReconOne123456789 Holy shit.

  • Gotta duck down when Newton starts swingin' some elbows...

  • Newton will be proud U_U

  • ya know? i really want one of these everest class drednaughts now.

  • what in his hand?

  • @terrorlizard the shell he's talking about

  • @Lunardivider24 What?! but... it so small...

  • @Lunardivider24 ya i know bit it no biger then his hand

  • Five people were clearly affected by this bomb

  • I told my chem teacher about this. She laughed out loud.

Let me repeat this; I told my chem teacher of Sir Issac Newton being the Deadlist SON OF A BITCH in space, and she LAUGHED

  • Man, Epic Badass Chief, Dreamed Professor!

  • lol you can buy a shirt that says that

  • *ship fires weapon*

    10,000 years later...

*some alien race gets their first space shuttle up into orbit*

    BOOOOM

    Alien: "WTF just happened?!?!"

    ROFL

  • @AICW Newton: lol gravity

  • When I saw this in game ...or heard this in game, was laughing quite hard.

  • hah i putted in my test as an example "if you shoot a nucilear warhead in space it will stay in motion untill it ruins somebodys day somewhere some time so sir isac newton is the most dangerous man in space :DD i got full points in that

  • I take issue with part of this. Space is NOT empty. If the slug misses and travels for another 10,000 years it will lose most of its kinetic energy even if the only thing it encounters is interstellar dust.

  • @pseudotasuki So? It was funny.

  • @pseudotasuki That's demonstrably wrong.

  • @pseudotasuki I think the main point was "don't randomly fire the really big gun".

  • @pseudotasuki I take issue with your comment. Sure, space isn't *completely* empty, but even after 10,000 years, It probably still would have run through less than a gram of interstellar medium. Besides, as other people have said, who cares? It's funny. =P

  • i wonder should i orded a "isaac newton is the deadliest son of a bitch in space" t shirt?

  • I showed this to my physics teacher, he laughed. Loved how this game kept some truth to science.

  • 38 kilotons is nothing.

a MIRV can simaltaniously lauch ten nukes, each not 3, but 25 times the power of the fatman bomb.

i guess simply accelerating a chunk of metal must be more effichant , otherwise they wouldn't use them.

  • @Chayraz2 don't be daft. 38 kilotons is plenty for most things. No point in dropping 100 Megaton bombs unless you want to mass exterminate something.

Oh, and mass, at sufficient speed, is quite deadly. Biggest explosion on earth was caused by an asteroid and teh subsequent extinction of teh dinosaurs.

  • @UnknownRex true, but ships have kinetic barriers to deflect the metal. a nuke cannot simply be deflected if it is properly armed. think on a smaller scale: widow < Cain

as for the KT event (when the dinosaurs died.) that asteriod was the size of mount everest. 3km. that's bigger than sovreigh. so i don't even need to give you a figure for you to see that it dwarfs every nuke ever made.

the point is that no such object could ever be mass accelerated

  • 4 People got partial credit.

  • I just bought my brother the tee shirt from their store.

    He squeaked with happiness. :D

  • ONCE YOU FIRE THIS HUNK OF METAL, IT KEEPS GOING TIL' IT HITS SOMETHING!

That could be a SHIP, or the planet BEHIND that ship!

It might go off into deep space and HIT SOMEBODY ELSE IN TEN THOUSAND YEARS!

If you pull the trigger on this, YOU ARE RUINING SOMEBODY'S DAY.

If this dude would be my military gunnery sergeant, I would enlist.

  • everytime when i go to the citadel in Mass Effect 2, this conversation always cracks me XD

  • 4 people gave partial answers.

  • Featured on TV Tropes! =D

  • "and hit 'somebody else' in 10,000 years" being the reapers? lol

  • Four people eyebawl'd it.

  • 4 people's day got ruined by eyeballed hunks of metal.

  • I love how they don't make the mistake of calling the largest ships Destroyers. Because destroyers are actually small and fast ships designed to protect the large and slow ships from small and fast attackers.

  • @Xytan4

Actually, Destroyers stand for "Torpedo boat destroyer," which was their original purpose. There is absolutely no reason to assume that will be the case in the future, nor is there a case for simply taking naval terms wholesale. I mean, what is a "space Dreadnought?" Is there a space pre-dreadnought? A space protected cruiser? A space third-rate frigate? A space trireme?

  • @TheChairmaker Yes.

  • @TheChairmaker they're called dreadnoughts and destroyers because those words sound fucking cool. adding "space-" in front of everything is clumsy and awkward.

  • Mass Effect > Star Wars

  • ...it impacts with the force of a... ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL

  • Apparently Chuck Norris changes his name to Issac Newton in the future.

  • I wonder if the guys who fired the ancient mass accelerator that caused the Great Rift had 'eyeballed it'

  • Comment removed

  • You do not EYEBAWL IT.

  • it's all fun and games until Newtown start throwing apples at 1-1.3% of lightspeed.

  • @viendiesel13 I laughed so hard, everyone in the libairy looked at me. Thanks.

  • I showed this to my physics teacher. :D

  • @coldshoulder14 me too :D

  • @coldshoulder14

:O What did they say? I personally know that my physics teacher would find this hilarious.

  • @IntelligentNameHere she said she couldn't show it to the class.... :'(

  • "Sir Issac Newton is the deadliest son of a big-city space madness!" - YouTube Transcriber. Seriously.

  • "....enhancement that was a need to resend your son all that is three times..." - Youtube Transcriber

  • i love all of Mass Effects side conversations

  • Don't fuck with Mr. Newton.

  • Brilliant!

    Bioware owns.

  • I love the irony of you carrying the M920 Cain.

  • @gmc5626 It must called M920 Isaac Junior

  • 0:34 maggot!

  • 1 N = 1 kg * m/s². So badass, he got a unit of measurement named after him. Than again, so did Tesla---and he was, to be quite frank, WAY more badass.

I blame it on the death ray Tesla made.

  • @hillphyre E=MC^2 describes it better. Speed of projectile around 3000 kilometers per second gives you massive damage, despite its small weight.

  • @mininow: Describes...what?

  • @mininow

Lmao, E=mc^2 has nothing to do with this, this is classic F = ma equation.

  • @hillphyre

    Actually it's 1 N = 1 kg m/s^2

  • @Spyez: That's...kind of the same thing.

  • @hillphyre

If you think m/s is interchangeable with m/s^2 then I would advice you to retake physics and elementary math.

  • @Spyez: Except that I had said m/s^2, I just used a superscript of 2.

  • @hillphyre

Haha, I see it. My fault for not being attentive.

  • @Spyez: S'okay. :)

  • Wait a minute... what about Galileo? XD

  • the guy who does the voice does a pretty good impression of the staff sargeant in Full Metal Jacket

  • What if it crashes on a dead planet? Cant ruin someones day.

  • @AnterosOfTheNyboriag

No, but if it hits a dead planet at that speed it might send debris up into space...and THAT could ruin someone's day.

  • @MartialArtsMaster In the rare event theirs a habbitable planet around.

  • @AnterosOfTheNyboriag

Yes, but you can't rely on that possibility. Hell, if there is life out there, one of the probes we've launched could have smashed someone's 'space jalopy', or collapsed an entire orphanage filled with orphan alien children.

The Alliance military in ME has to be especially careful now, since they've got mass accelerated weapons comparable to nukes (as opposed to our space probes), and they now KNOW that there's life out there, whereas in RL, we still speculate.

  • can i recruit newton to fight the reapers???

  • Issac Newton is the chuck norris of space

  • Even Sir Isaac Newton can pawn the most bitch in the universe, Jack.

  • I f-ing love this exchange right here. I just watched it in game a couple times in a row =D

  • The names of the two crewmen are references to Ken Burnside and Winchel Chung, the organizing brain behind Attack Vector: Tactical (the first 3d space combat game!) and the project rho website, the best one-stop shop for a coherent explanation of space physics for the layman.

  • Hahaha, This is the funniest part of this game!

  • They actually got combat in space right (well sort of).

  • Sir Isaac Newton assumes direct control of Harbinger.

  • Sir Isaac Newton controls every ship in space. Including yours. If he decides that you are going to crash into an asteroid, there is nothing you can do about it.

  • I love how an officer in 2183 refers to an event that happened in 1945, instead of all of the other crap going on in Mass Effect.

  • @SikGamer70 Considering how important it has been to human history (first use of an atomic weapon in an offensive role), I could see it as a touch-stone for a long time to come.

  • @SikGamer70 Probably because everyone knows about the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. If it wasn't for the people playing the game, it's for the new recruits who might be new to the force in the game.

  • @SikGamer70

People still refer to things that happened as far back as the middle ages and earlier now.

  • @SikGamer70 and what worst shit been here? I cant remember any other NUCLEAR BOMB. Remind me, pls?

  • @SikGamer70

You do realize Newton lived in in the 1600's hundreds, right?

  • I love this speech.

  • the truth is its what you off there is a lot be a white every five seconds thought of it that responces for not exonerate someone to one point three percent of whites me thats it that was it thirty eight angels on on. that is three times the yield of the city buster dropped on hiroshima back on her, that means I and the son of a bitch he anticipates. now serviceman broadside what used to be slow as well.

He said it did not get the motion space emotions that

  • @lerokz Dont try to for are still exist maginnis

but whats ahead on the an outside force said

thats right mike garrison you encourage our guests seventeen once virus called, and i dont thinks he's going delegate something that can be issued, or the plan at the mine accident. it might go along with deeds and somebody else tenthousand years, you pull the trigger on this you will release on wednesday somewhere at sometime god is watching us and jordan targets its like the way the computer

  • @lerokz did did you what did find solutions the service with some we do not live on it, this is a weapon of mass destruction! you are not a child, whats your read on that!

    Yes sir

(Oh Lawl transcribe is so hilarious, this is the entire dialoge of the vids and the last part of the entire lulz)

  • @lerokz Unfortunately, they've recently changed the transcription system. Fortunately, all that did is bring in a whole new shipment of comedy gold.

"Senator, let's get an outside force that like to use the leverage that is the season want..."

"You are not a challenge to the promised land!"

  • "Mike garrison you encourage our guests seventeen once virus called and I don't think he's going" - Youtube Transcriber, 0:44

  • that is quite epic

  • "God is watching us and Jordan targets." -Youtube Transcriber

  • holy shit you can even learn physics from vid game

  • We don't live on it? Transcribed audio is the best thing on youtube.

  • Forget space, Sir Issac Newton is the Deadliest Son of a Bitch in the whole UNIVERSE

  • @GeneralSpy What's the difference?

  • The transcribe makes this gold. Everyone has to watch this with transcriptions on if they haven't already.

  • @nsssj I did as you suggested. The only problem was, it was well after midnight, and I had to stuff my pillow in my mouth to keep from waking up the whole house. Good lord, who developed that transcription thing? That is... really... broken.

  • I WISH my physics class was like this.

  • It must be awesome, to do little bits like these in video games, because you'll always be remembered as the "Isaac Newton" Guy in The Citadel.

  • WHO CLICKED DISLIKE?!

  • FEEL THE WEIGHT

  • You don't find Sir Isaac Newton in space. He finds you.

  • Physics class in the future

  • So with proper aiming and a well placed punch, Shepard can punch Sir Isaac Newton into space, THROUGH the incoming collector ship approaching Earth in the future. Because even though he's the deadliest son of a bitch in space, Newton still loses to the Commander.

  • lol eyeballing it dam i laugh at this every time

  • lol

  • "No credit for partial answers, maggot!"

    ^_^ Thanks!

  • i lol at this

  • @thevegetarianzombie it's a nuke gun. Get 100% from heavy weapon ammo and it will shoot a nuke and kill anything in one hit. Killed endgame boss with it.

  • "If you pull the trigger on this, you are ruining someone's day."

  • Isaac Newton > Chuck Norris

  • @MetalGearGas OOhhhh.....Chuck Norrins ain't gonna like that....

    *Hides in a bunker*
