Odds are it will hit something and fragment the force over a bunch of objects a few billion trillion light years away. Space is pretty empty.

I take issue with part of this. Space is NOT empty. If the slug misses and travels for another 10,000 years it will lose most of its kinetic energy even if the only thing it encounters is interstellar dust.

as for the KT event (when the dinosaurs died.) that asteriod was the size of mount everest. 3km. that's bigger than sovreigh. so i don't even need to give you a figure for you to see that it dwarfs every nuke ever made.

Yes, but you can't rely on that possibility. Hell, if there is life out there, one of the probes we've launched could have smashed someone's 'space jalopy', or collapsed an entire orphanage filled with orphan alien children.

The Alliance military in ME has to be especially careful now, since they've got mass accelerated weapons comparable to nukes (as opposed to our space probes), and they now KNOW that there's life out there, whereas in RL, we still speculate.
