hey zak, My dog is very protective and i like that she alerts us when someone comes but i cant seem to get her attention to let her know that they are friends, any tips? but i dont want to make her too calm just in case there really is a burgular or someone :)

your dogs are great! but in the video, you just demonstrate how they "stay." you don't explain how you taught them to do that.

@lokkenliane When I taught my dog, I taught him to sit and then stay. With stay, start off small. Say "stay" and put up your hand (like a stop sign) and start walking away. Their natural instinct might be to follow or walk away but if they stay (for a few seconds at first is more likely than minutes) reward it. The more you do it, the better the dog will get. Do it in small parts though, a few seconds, than a minute, than a few minutes, eventually they will be trained to stay until called.

Glitterchicks there is no such thing as Golden Border Collies, Zaks dogs look like coolie crosses, and if you dog doesn't want affection from you then you need to wokr on your relationship with her you need to become top dog

@danieltsmoke all dogs have their consistancy. Some dogs work better with food, some with toys, some with strange things like getting to go for a ride, getting to go out. The list of rewards for your dog can go on and on. My dog will take treats, balls, and affection as a reward when training :) . Don't feel down at all!!

@danieltsmoke Most dogs like affection, but won't work for it. Think of food as her payment for doing a job well done. We wouldn't work for free, so we shouldn't expect our dogs too either. And as Jal1515 said, all dogs have their consistency, so don't feel down about it at all. :)
