To play with friends (and with my girlfriend that can't even stand up in melee), Brawl it's okay. Cause it's funny and easy (accessible).

For tournaments and etc, with no doubt melee is a waaaaay better. Cause you really have to keep trainning to improve your skills (to master the game).

Well, it made it a little more complex...but since the inclusion of them was unintentional, it made the game a lot less refined.

I prefer Brawl is all. But, it's not like Brawl 'ruined' Smash Bros. When Brawl came out it wasn't like every copy of Melee imploded. Just play what you prefer.

Really, I don't think Melee fans would be so critical of Brawl if it wasn't hyped so much before release.

Wavedashing is not a glitch, it's an exploit of game physics.

L-cancel is an intended gameplay feature. I believe it was meant to allow players to quickly shield so as to avoid retaliation if an aerial missed.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a game being accesible, but in my opinion it just makes Brawl seem like a dumbed down version of something that was awesome and incredibly fun to play. Nothing wrong with other people liking it though, different tastes...

@Jonassoe Wavedashing is a glitch in the sense that the programmers didn't intend for it to be there. Physics exploit or glitch...it's the same deal. Something is there that shouldn't be.

Really, I found Melee to feel a little...sloppy. Competitive play encouraged exploitation of faults in the physics engine. You were working with things that weren't designed to be there, and it felt awkward. Brawl, to me, isn't as dumbed down as it is refined.

If a character lands on the ground while having sideways momentum, it will slide a little, even in Brawl. That's essentially what wavedashing is. To remove it you would need to change the physics or the game or some of the controls. A glitch like IC's freeze glitch was removed in the PAL version without any effect on other parts of the gameplay.

The exploitations you speak of don't completely change the gameplay and there isn't that many of them. They just give you a little more options.
