  • @101Tonia101 then you have one hot Latin teacher....

  • Hell, with those glasses David looks EXACTLY like my Latin teacher...

  • i'm italian too and my accent is waaay worse even becouse i don't know spelling some words propely you know we speak as we read texts so there's many difference between being able to write english and being able to speak it , i'm shy too so it's even harder for me =D , watching DW in english with dubtitles helped me rly much anyway.

  • OH MY GOSH?!?!? David Tennant was at Pompeii? I've been to Pompeii!! WHY did I not know this sooner?

  • David, you brilliant-sexy-scottish-defender-of-slaves-with-amazing-hair man! You just killed me with that unbuttoned shirt and glasses combination.

  • i likew how he was so concerned about the slaves :)

  • I've been there.

  • I wish i grew up learning about the fires of Pompeii, instead i just got the boring Tudors and the ever so repetitive Nazi Germany.

  • Wow. I always found Pompeii fascinating. :D When I was a kid I had a book that had pictures of the excavation and artifacts and I would read it over and over. Same with one I had on the Titanic. :D I'm so jealous.

  • The thumbnail looked like Tennant was wearing an eyepatch. I mean, sunglasses are cool and all, but an eyepatch is cool.

  • The tour guide sounded like Mario and luigi mashed together...cool!!!

  • Come sempre gli italiani si fanno riconoscere....

Well David, you're cool as always!

  • @8cocoriko8 già xD

David you are a great man and a great actor! :D

  • DAVID TENNANT LOOKS SO SEXY IN THAT OUTFIT AND THOSE SUNGLASSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    BEST AND FAVORITE DOCTOR EVER

LOVE BOTH OF THEIR ACCENTS...MISS HIM SO MUCH

  • @chewy981997 I agree with you 1million per cent!!! :o)

  • I love the guide's accent- it's lovely!

  • hey guys, before you make fun of the guide for his accent, stop and remember; david tennant has an accent too!

  • @Milkpaw but a sexy accent <3

  • Comment removed

  • I like that he was concerned about the plight of the slaves. He seems like a wonderful, caring, intelligent person. I miss him as the Doctor.

  • david looks sexy :)

  • SEXY

  • david looks so attractive right now he looks llike a rocker but like casual i wish i could go there

  • How do you know when its gonna blow? LOL

  • Oh the tourguide has a so strong naples' accent =) it's strange to see David standing there when I grew up in those places =)

  • David's been in Italy! My country! (But I promise you, not all italians speak with the accent of the guy in the beginning O___O)

  • @PioggiaNelVento awww :( :p hey! i just realized ur kinda insulting him u meanie ur probably just jealous and wish u could have his accent maybe u want to grow up in naples :p hes italian ur supposed to defend him >:l

  • @sweetypie1988a Haha I hope you're kidding me...

  • @PioggiaNelVento about which part?

  • @sweetypie1988a about it all! (i) me jealous? look, as every italian of my age i study english at school. i've been part of the exchange program in grade 12 and i've lived 6 months in vancouver. i'm happy with my accent. (ii) naples is beautiful but i like more the place where i live (iii) why should i defend him? he speaks an excellent english and i didn't deny it, but his accent is actually pretty bad. it sounds like he's faking it.

  • @PioggiaNelVento well at least ur happy with your accent some are not wait ur italian and you live in vancouver thats in canada right? his accent if he is faking i dont know that not right if he is maybe he thought it would make him seem cooler but i am just saying its not nice to make fun of his accent

  • @sweetypie1988a yes i'm italian. i've been living in vancouver 6 months, i currently live in italy. oh c'mon i never made fun of his accent! i just said that it's not a good accent, that's all! just get over it! O_O

  • @PioggiaNelVento ok then i just have met people and heard people make fun of immigrants english can be a hard language to learn when theirs is so different .

Havent you ever heard some one get made fun of because they didnt pronounce something right or their sentence is not perfect or get laughed at and you dont know why

  • @sweetypie1988a Nobody is making fun of the guide. You're making a fuss out of nothing.

  • @PioggiaNelVento well as long as your not making fun of him ok i guess that means you never seen anyone get made fun of cause of their accent so it doesnt bother you

  • @sweetypie1988a still i hope you're kidding me. of course i've seen people making fun of foreign accents, but the point here is that nobody is making fun of anyone right now. c'mon stop it, you're getting ridicolous.

  • @PioggiaNelVento i guess it just bothers me more cause i have seen people be really cruel and mock those immigrants and many other things i am glad to know your not making fun of him

  • it's like the guide learned to speak English from watching sean Connery as james Bond... LOVE..IT !!!

  • @spongiebungie i know right a little but thats what makes it cooler accents rock

  • I want David's outfit! :D

  • reeva of leva

  • Pompeii seems a pretty cool place to live...apart from the volcanoe part :L

  • I went to Italy with my family. We passed by Pompeii leaving Napoli for Ravello. I wanted to go to Pompeii :(

  • Actually there was ONE building that survived - the brothel. I remember visiting it in 1989 when I was 19.

  • "how do they know when its going to blow?"

    heheh

  • Great video. The Italian guide had excellent diction, a very interesting accent and very good knowledge of what he spoke. Tennent showed that he was moved by it all, especially in his "reflective" comments.

  • I've been to Pompeii, it's amazing :D I wish David had been there that day! Gotta love 'im :D

  • Such a terrible thing...what happened to all those people...they are a piece of history forever.

it makes me wanna go there

  • @unbeliveablebuttrue I've been there (I'm from rome), you can still see the people preserved in stone just as they were trying to escape or to protect their children, you can't stand there and watch without crying :(

  • David looks so hot..as always.

  • at 1:11 i have to wonder.... is that a DALEK??????

  • 5:38 i first thought they were toilets :S

  • omg! Doctor Who was here in Italy and i didnt know? plus,i'm italian, and i don't know how david could get what the guide was saying....at least ,i didn't.

  • @freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez lol sono pure io italiana, la guida aveva il tipico accento da italiano che tenta di parlare inglese ahah ma almeno si capiva dai :D

  • I was there in 1998 and it was absolutely fascinating... btw, for those who have never been there and want to take a look at it: google maps now provides street view for the ancient city. just search for "piazza porta marina inferiore, pompeii". you'll find the ruins north of it. hope you'll enjoy your virtual trip!

  • leave the poor guide alone, at least he DOES speak another language besides his own...as for his accent, it´s not something that most ppl can help, and don´t get me started on how many English speakers butcher the pronounciation of Italian or French words...

  • @Nanami21 you are right! I am italian and this guy is very funny for someone like me that learnd english since childhood, or someone that speaks english as its own language. I can tell you that many professionals in italy have learnd english when they were already grown up, so the accent is extremely strong, but they don't say wrong words.

  • @hikarufly It's awesome that you and Nanami21 recognize the difference between fluency and accuracy! I'm an ESL teacher, and I meet so many people (locals and students) who believe that a person has to have a 100% native-like accent in order to be "truly fluent". Obtaining a native-like accent is virtually impossible if you start learning a second language after age 13 or so.

  • hes got a stutter

  • I've always been fascinated by Pompeii. At 6:18 DT is probably thinking these people died here and they're on display....centuries ago.

  • You can just see by the expression on his face...

I find it slightly nauseating, myself.

  • 1:13 His shirt is open a bit *swoon*

  • Oh God :P :P :P :P Sexy Too Sexy how is he sooo sexyy

  • David is HOT! think it is great that they actually went there to see it!

  • Funny that the Itaian guy has cooler sunglasses on than David's shades.

  • I MUST go to Pompeii...we learned a lot about it in our Latin lessons- never managed to have a trip there (although our teacher did promise, damnit :D)

  • Well it seems he's on every channel (BBC three and others) I can't receive on my TV, thanks for uploading so I can enjoy it too.

  • whats on the back of David Tennants shirt?

  • I went to Pompeii and up Versuvius on a school trip, but it was so wet and manky we couldn't actually see inside the crator or down the mountain side or anything, glad I watched this, now I have!lol

  • Have been there myself.

It s a very strange and moving experience to walk in Pompeii and stand on Vesuvius.

  • ahh at 6.35 david looks so sad at what the mans telling him .

  • omg he looookksss so fit there

  • Yeah I was in the Marines with a guy built like that. I could run 3 miles in about 18 minutes. But my bud, "Roach" was his name, could just fly. He ran it in the low 14 minutes area. David looks like he can fly like that.

I've been a film maker for a while now, and that has to include acting sometimes, (If I'm making a film, I might as well be in it! LOL). Staying fit is a priority. You got to have have the energy for long shoots. And well...it's nice to hear girls say "OMG!". LOL

  • David Tennant has to be one of the best Doctor's of all time... I really wish he'd stay the Doctor for a few more seasons...

This little interview certainly shows how involved he got with the production, I mean how often does one of the actors for a show get involved with the production and on-site research?

  • @NikoKun It seemed like he wanted to be on longer when I read that he wanted be on as long as he can. It seemed like he wanted to break Tom Bakers record. I read that Colon Baker wanted to be on a long time too until he was fired.

  • @NikoKun i miss him too but like he said if he decided to stay he never would have left and we'd have him rolling out of the tardis in a wheel chair. he went out with a bang though and took the tardis console with him.

  • OH

    MY

    GOD!!

I WENT THERE LIKE 2 WEEKS AGO

    AANNNDDD

I SAT ON THOSE STEPPING STONES!!!

    AAAHHHHHHHHH

i was running around touching the walls just incase he touched it lol

  • Ah David is so gorgeous. He's so hot...literally and in cuteness.

But that tour guide's accent is so annoying.

  • j'adore il fait la démarche de se plonger dans l'histoire à fond

  • If You Change every eruption to erection it is really funny!! :D

  • No other erections since 1944! That blows.

    ;)

  • Hahahaha

  • LMFAO OMG XD

  • I love the one thing about Doctor Who is that they go back and make sure the history is right. They research well. I love this. D.T. is so down to earth "Unless you were a slave." LOL Awesome. Thanks for posting this!

  • Yes, yes the glasses are awesome but are we forgetting the rest of the outfit? The Shirt is pretty cool but not with those shorts! Gotta LOVE David Tennant

  • and black socks? lmao

  • i love pompeii i have studied it for the last 3 years wih skewl and we actually planning a trp later this year. dont think im going anymore. (im from australia) im just gunna go chicago..

  • Watch a proper documentary about Pompeii instead. Like that docudrama.

  • How it really sounds from 0.44 to 0.53 min:

Guide:"... which is like the last erection they've taped(?) in 1944 and since then no other erection but at any time could be a new erection!"

and to my amusement the guy just keeps repeating the word eruption! and he even makes David join in for the let's-say-eruption-a-lot festival! xP

  • Hahahahaha

God i am so imature ... i cant stop listening to that!!

    BTW

    David looks so hot!!

  • xD

    HE ALWAYS DOES! :D

  • David Tennant is sexy in those glasses <3

  • That man took me and a few other people on a tour of Pompei. He kept getting quite angry and having a go at people.

  • his guides accent is really irking me rofl

  • It's cute how Europeans say massage, very different haha. I love the accents and the differences in speech, pretty interesting.

  • MASS-oge

    haha I love it

  • Really freaky when i watched this because it's like DT is stepping in my footsteps. I went to Pompeii in 2005 with my school in exactly the same places DT went, and i think we had the same tour guide!

Still cant get over it :D

  • i went to pompeii too in 2004... but my tour guide was different... what a pity!

  • lol i checked over my old photographs, sadly it isnt the same tour guide but very similar! :P

  • wooo when he was there he met my Grandma and said hello to me and I think she said half of what that guy said when she forced me to watch her holiday video

  • David + Sunglasses = Funky David

    HOTT

  • DT is sooo sexy!

  • woaahh, david is HOTT

  • believe me, I'm italian: the guy speaks that way because in my country people are not willing to study english very hard: so, the accent seems fake, but it isn'!!!

  • WOW, i love David's glasses!

  • I feel this is why ancient history should be just as appreciated. 2000 years from now, the Holocaust and WWs will only be textbook chapters when all the voices of personal experience are long gone.

Many people brush off ancient history because they feel too removed, or the documentation isn't as thorough to appeal. But that's what makes remembering these events just as precious.

  • i totally agree, events such as Pompeii or the Holocaust should not be forgotten. I recently went to Sydney for a school tour and we met a survivor of the Holocaust and her story was mesmerising. To think of these sort of things going on to be forgotten is wrong.

Oh and BTW loving the sunnies David!!! Molto bene! :)

  • Pompeii is just a party! Lol.

It all seemed like a bit of a laugh didn't it, a good time, being able to see what those people got up to, then you saw how they died, the actual positions, people with their heads down, trying to protect the children and it really hits home. Very saddening, you can see it in Tennant's expression too when they come to the 'bodies'.

I liked that guys accent, lol, and Tennant's :P

My friend got to go there...luckily cow, lolz.

  • You can see in just his face that when they looked at the figures of those people's bodies how he felt. That solemn oh god kinda feeling

And he then confirms that after

  • David should do one of those shows where the host (david) goes around and visits different interesting (and maybe historical) places,

    I'd watch that lol

  • Haha, like Michael Palin? I would totally watch that. XD

  • @8CaptainJackSparrow8 oh my god me too and he asks good questions and stuff

  • lol! I don't think anybody here minds him doing that. XD

  • @bristow860

No one minds. David could take off his shirt and we wouldn't mind. You;re probably a guy. No offense.

  • @DoctorWhoovian

Did i say I minded? Nope. I'm a girl and have a massive crush on DT. So maybe you should think twice before responding to a jokey comment from 2 years ago with a comment that to be honest, sounds a little bit rude.

  • @bristow860

I'm sorry I didn't mean to be rude, I just misunderstood you. Please don't get offended. I should have put a smiley so that you would get me correctly mine was a jokey comment too, a bit anyway. I didn't mean to start an argument or be rude, honest.

  • @DoctorWhoovian

Thats ok! All is good so! :-)

  • Do you have the whole episode of Doctor Who Confidential?

  • Sorry, I don't :(

  • "unless you were a slave" lol

  • I've always felt that stereotyping was based on personal experience, expectation and education...not implying that you aren't!

I found him well-versed in his subject, making his descriptions quite vivid, even personal for the listener; and comfortable enough with the English language to be able to answer questions from David or his--? Production-mate?--without consideration or difficulty due to their different accents.

  • I was just being mean about his all white suit...But thanks for ripping me. It was really necessary.

  • Love DT but he looks kinda geek-chic with his black socks and sneakers/trainers. He really is the perfect geek chic...or just the perfect man

  • I love David's laugh at 2:11 :)

  • "thats life"

could you be more italian, so chill

    and David...che figo!

  • irresistibile.

But the italian guy's accent sounded almost fake.

  • @greengrendel Believe me!!! Italians have this accent!!!! (i am italian!)

  • Thanks for this!

  • sweeeeet! thank you so much! I loved this!

  • thanks for sharing!!
