tbh i think there are more things to look for than what it has regarding i/o sockets, for instance, how many Pci-e lanes, Mosfet cooling, power phase and memory speed, having 6 usb's and E-sata isnt going to help performance, which one you going to buy, an extremely good performing board that only has 2 usb ports or a really bad performing board with 6 usb ports, thats what hubs are for. apart from that glad you chose the M3A32 as one of the boards as that things rocks!

intel c2q series are a great buy in this day in time if you can find them. if anything AMDs quads are great for gaming, core i7 too much for most gamers.

No. A new motherboard has a new set of technologies that others differ. A new board nowdays needs to chane the CPU, Power Supply sometimes, and maybe even the RAM. Depends how old the machine is.

Once again, it depends. If you have that old AT style case, it won't.

If it's newer, you could fit some boards in them. Some boards are Micro ATX and some are ATX. If you have a small case, a Micro-ATX case is the best bet. If you use an ATX board, it might not fit.

The m3n78 pro has nvidia's top chipset for am2+. If you wanna get the most out of it you can get a phenom II x4 940. Thats what I got on my comp and the thing runs great. The onboard graphics are not shabby either, but I would recommend you get 4+ gb of ram since the graphics share memory. This way you will always have plenty for the OS and programs.

Unless you are going to go SLI, STI graphics, or am3 socket, the m3n78 pro is pretty much the best board out there.

Listen, the AM2+ models takes all the AMD processors, sincluding both CPUs you've mentioned.

Now, for graphics processing, if they take advantage of 4 cores, then for sure get the Phenom....heck, you should take it anytime, it's a better future-proof CPU.

If you'd be more precise on where actually the blow point is, it'd help better, but I'll take it that a cap, small resistor, volt regulator, or an actual chip fried. That happened to me once,

I bought a Lemon :O(....How cheap is tto cheap? the second hand GA-MA69VM-S2 turned out to be a dud...I try topower it up and it doesnt send video to the monitor..tried removing the graphics card and using only onboard video, tried clearing the cmos.... nothing helped...I'll have to buy another...got any recommendations? needs to be am2 giga lan mATX with a PCIe slot...

One other thing that was odd...it powered on ok but the reset button didnt reset and holding in the power button didnt shut the pc down...

You could have a lot of software, but that would be a hard one, unless a lot loads in RAM.

Another could be a too high OC, pushing it to throttle down far. Check if it isn't overheating as well...unless you ploay the game without probs for a long time.

Try updating DX10 engine as well.

i was thinking Quad Q9400 2,66ghz, MSI P45 Platinum, and a 4870 1gb card on that, and 2x2gb ddr2 1066. will that work? (my first build)is raid on that owerkill? or will normal sata on 7200rpm do?(its not high end gameig platform enyway so), finding the motherboard that will run it stable (owercloked ofc) seems to be the hardest part. ty for eny edvice.

Great video. A real service to the community. Would've saved myself hours if I'd found it earlier. But what about, instead of MSI P45 Platinum, the MSI P45 Neo2-FR? It's $30 cheaper (50 w/rebate), and isn't it identical to the Platinum with the exception of RAM speed and the chipset cooling? The differences seem negligible, especially given (as I've read, but I don't know whether it's true) that RAM speeds above DDR2 800 really don't really pay off right now. What do you think?

I won the auction this morning!, Got the (secondhand)Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H Motherboard for $91NZD + freight , freight shouldnt be much...Brand new here they're about $117NZD chances are I havent saved much, got a bit carried away bidding...the boards only had 3 months use.. so is as good as new...I'll might try making my first youtube vid on the build etc...
