I would do a lot more study on the actual art of a geiko's make-up, especially a lot more study away from Arthur Golden's Memoirs of a Geisha. I would suggest the book and movie about Mineko Iwasaki. The make up looks a bit too western and the chopsticks are a bit much...

I suppose one could say this is Maiko/Geisha inspired, but lightyears away from the real thing, much too "westernized" in many ways (eyebrows, gah!). Actually I'm sure it would be possible for pretty much anyone to get close to the authentic look, but it takes effort, practice and observation on how it really looks. And the make up alone looks just silly in public if wearing any western clothes, casual or festive. The make up and kimono go together. But it was fun to watch anyway =)

i put cake makeup *which is used for a white clown face) you can find it in a specialty store like party city, and definitely around Halloween time for about 2$

you can, If you are going for authentic, use a cream based white oil based makeup that they sell on line. You then cover it with white powder. It looks and holds better, but that just if you are really into the look and you want to spend the money...

You do know that geishas did not go over the entire eyebrow.Their lips are red not pink and they did not put make-up on the entire eyelid only on the top corners.

So what if this isn't the way the real Geisha apply their make up? This girl obviously the process of putting on such amazing make up and felt like having some fun of her own.
