The big one in the front (I think it's a rooster) doesn't have much of a comb whereas the other two (I think they're hens) do have combs. Is this just the way the breed looks? They really are pretty.
@lmbarak The roosters have their combs surgically removed --it's called dubbing-- when they're about four months old. This is the traditional way or raising gamefowl.
@lmbarak Traditionally, the comb was removed so other fighting cocks couldn't grab it while fighting in the pit. It's the same reason pit bull dogs have cropped ears.
@stoneunhenged Ah, that explains the dogs' ears too. :-) Thank you. These chickens are very pretty. The tails on the hens are very unique. Thank you for answering my questions and sharing your video.
I'm not sure. I bought those birds from him about four years ago and haven't since been in touch. At the time he didn't use email so the transaction was done over the phone and through the mail. I had to wait several months until he had birds available, but he was honest and delivered as promised. Good luck.

@stoneunhenged I've never heard of that before. Is it just for looks? Or does the comb have any purpose for the rooster?
