@MrJimthegod Yeah, you must not know much about the course. On the E course you start like this and then go run a 6 mile course with rifle, helmet, and pack,
I remember that.....LOL! I went through TBS in the spring of 1994. That O course hasn't changed at all. Still remember those humps to the rifle ranges. The endurance course was the toughest of all. I hope to return someday and do all these courses. Good luck to you.
You dont, youll suck at this the first time you do it in Boot and then it will be a joke after your 3rd or 4th time. Its not hard, it just takes some endurance
This standard course has 14 obstacles, every odd one is a short vault and the even-numbered obstacles vary. I think the rope climb would be the toughest, which is why they save it for the end.
isnt the OSC like the TBS for Marine Officers?? It is getting me confused, because I want to be one, so it is like OCS is a training course right? and then after OCS u still go to Basic School?? So it is like 2 boot camps?
Yep, you're on the right track. OCS happens while you're in college, and is more like boot camp in duration and instructor demeanor. Then, when you finish college you get your commission as a 2nd Lt. Next, you go to The Basic School, same base (MCB Quantico), but a different part of the base, and it is longer, at 6 months. If you are serious about it, good luck.
OCS is not a bootcamp where Marine officers are "made", it is a means to "train screen and evaluate officer candidates for their potential to serve as company grade officers in the US Marine Corps". It is a screening process where those unfit to lead Marines are weeded out of the pack and disenrolled from the Marine officer program. If you graduate OCS you commission as a 2ndLt and proceed to Basic School, As you begin TBS you have already earned the title of Marine officer.
So essentially, at OCS you have to PROVE to the enlisted staff that you are good enough to lead them into combat, OCS is strictly a screening process. At TBS on the other hand, you are a Marine officer but must be taught the art of being one. OCS is generally either two 6 week sessions over 2 summers or one 10 week session over one summer, after completion of that you commission as a 2ndLt and proceed to TBS for 6 months.
At OCS, the O Course is a timed and tested event. 1:00 is a perfect time and 2:00 is passing, Over 2:00 is failing. I would say a good time is anywhere from 1:00-1:30-35.
The o-course is so much fun!

Its a log that stands like 4 feet high, and you gotta run towards it put your belly on it and try to get over it, without going under it.

Is that #8? Before the hurdles?
TonyDuMont 2 years ago
Its right after the Logs that are sloped downwards. and the guy puts his belly to it and pulls himself over. AKA Belly Buster :)

Yes, it is possible to do the single O Course in under a minute. The fastest I saw, was at OCS, and it was 55 seconds.
