I saw this clip and I want the video! I love this song, and the Blue Ridge Quartet does it awesome! But I can't find the video anywhere, except on amazon, and the seller wants $300 for it! I like the Blue Ridge Quartet, but I don't like it that much. Awesome song!
Yes, this was my dad Burl Strevel singing on the audio here....wrong time frame for George Younce. So glad to see a few videos on YouTube since there apparently are so few still in existence...thank you for the compliment, my daddy was indeed the best of the best :)
Yes he was. I used to watch them on WSPA out of Spartanburg on Sunday mornings. I remember that Sunday morning that one of the other members said that they had lost him since the last program, and that today's show would be a showcase of "The Best of Burl." I guess back then, they probably just reused the videotapes and then tossed them, unless WSPA has some in their archives. Too bad.
@treysi62 Hi WE faithfully watched the Blue Ridge Quartet every sat when they came on I remember once Elmo Fagg once got on his knees and begged for more time I am so happy to be seeing this video They were MY Mom's fav when we were growing up than you so very much for sharing God Bless
This is from the 60's and it is Burl who was at the time (and still ranks up there) the best Bass going. Google "Blue Ridge Quartet" for some great info on them.
This is so great! I'm a huge fan of the Blue Ridge Quartet, mostly through re-releases of their old albums, or occasionally finding a good used one at a thrift store. So seeing this video is the first time I've ever actually "seen" them perform. Thanks for posting it.
I think Elmo Fagg (unfortunate name, eh?) and Jake Hess were the best lead singers ever.
This and some of your other vids are from the movie "Sing a song for Heaven's sake". I thought I was the only one to ever see this. I unfortunately lost my copy of it. There are some legendary groups in this film.

WOW!! The Blue Ridge Quartet! Love the quality of this vid. I beleive George is singing on this cut and not Burl that you see. Thanks for this gem

I think the tall singer on the far right is Burl.
