Good for you "hecliffthecat". It sounds like you are well on your way. Figuring out your style of learning and getting help where needed is so important. Congratulations and keep at it!
(continued from previous) For example, if we had to do 6x7 I much preferred to add 6 to itself in my head 7 times rather than memorize what 6 times 7 was even though it took much longer.
When I was in school, I was also a lot like what these videos describe, but also really good at science and math. (My major in college was biology). The only exception to that was learning multiplication tables in third grade. I completely tuned math out that year. We were supposed to memorize the multiplication tables and that just did not make sense to me.
• I've considered becoming a poet, a politician, an architect, or a dancer
• I always lose track of time
• I like to draw
• When I'm confused, I usually go with my gut instinct
(Not very scientific but most visual learners match up with more than 50% of these. The important thing is to discover how you think and use it to your best advantage.)
This is my life word for word. For a long time school was hell. Nobody ever helped me, quite the opposite, they made me feel stupid. I helped myself. I learned how to read and fell in love with it. It took me till 6th grade to read my first book. 9th grade is when i started forcing myself to read. I'm not sure how but it worked, once i started i just took off like i'd been doing it my whole life. Still to find out i actually had a learning disability. It makes me wonder why nobody ever noticed.
@ramenisthebest I'm quite like you! I forced myself to finish a book when I was in the 11th year of high school. And after that I pretty much took off too, now I write a lot, poems, short stories, anything actually. I wonder why no one noticed too. Especially since I was in a gifted class in middle school but then started struggling with schoolwork in high school. Well at least we know now! Better late then never :)

Many of these are me, but many are not. I'm great in science and math.

@Keitaro2011 Here are a few more typical characteristics of a visual learner:
• I find it hard to follow directions precisely.
• I frequently change my plans and find that sticking to a schedule is boring.
• I think it's easier to draw a map than tell someone how to get somewhere.
• I frequently let my emotions guide me.
• People tell me I am always late getting places.
• People have told me that I'm psychic.

• When somebody asks me a question, I turn my head to the left.
• I learn music with ease
• To solve a problem, I think of similar problems I have solved in the past.
• I use a lot of gestures
• I believe there are two ways to look at almost everything
• I have the ability to tell if people are lying or guilty of something, just by looking at them
