No I am not. Both the hummer h2 and the pathfinder are cheaper to buy and more reliable than the lr3. And if you did your research and knew anything about either the land rover or the hummer than you wont reply with something about how they don't make the hummer because if you had done your research than you would have seen that they don't make the lr3 anymore either.

Land Rovers have and will continue to be one of the best off road capable SUVs in the world. I'd like to see a MDX go anywhere close off road that a LR3 could go. There's a reason you see Land Rovers all over the world where people need reliable and consistent transporation and not MDX's....

The LR3 may be one of the last true SUVs, too bad it'll break down about 100,000 miles before anything made in Japan. And anyone not earning a six figure salary would probably choke on the $5,000 bill for a replacement transmission, or a $8,000 bill for suspension repair, which strangely tends to occur right when the factory warranty expires. I'd rather get a dependable, and quite capable off-roader like the Acura MDX or Porsche Cayenne over a British-made, gas-guzzling clunker like the LR3.

@BlastDance first of all the lr3 was design by ford and even though ford sold the landrover to tata motors they still use ford or jaguar ( also sold to tata by ford) platforms and right now besides nissan ford is at the top of fuel economy there is no way ford will make a f-150 have a 23 mpg the best right now for trucks and give a slightly more sportier suv less fuel economy ford is too smart for that that's why it and tata have one of the best sales right now okay so take your handa ass on !

In all honesty most of the yotas I have wheeled with were running worse then my disco simply because their owners thought that the toyota was invincible. Not saying they are bad rigs, just bad drivers lol. I've always treaded as lightly as I could, not only to cut down on damage to the environment but to my car as well. I'll admit that the rangies in the 80s where the most unreliable cars ever made, but my disco hasn't let me down yet

people think of the range rover as an icon but the reality is only the disco and the defender are good off road and they have constant reliability issues. a land cruiser 70 series will get you through anywhere in the world and will get you back home

what kind of disco, the newer ones are much more reliable but to me, i dont think i should have to take excessive care of a car especially an offroader, and want to go the then ends of thee earth, come back, change the oil and do it agian. and that's why i have loved all of my family's Toyotas.

@redtail5 2001, and beleive me I havent been nice to it. Its just the bare bones LE model, nothing special on it (no ace or sls), which is probably why ive had such good luck. The maintenance hasnt been anything crazy either, just oil every 5k, trans/diffs/transfer case every 30k and grease the prop shaft every oil change. My buddy's 99 4runner broke a transfer case gear going up a rock garden and mine went up, down, and towed him home. I'll keep my rover lol

the fact that ist bare bones probably helps a bit but everyone i know whose had a disco or a range rover has hated it, i mean even die hard range rover fans admit that they are unreliable. In my experience chevy and land rover fans always have some 1 in a million story about a Toyota and they reject the whole company for it.

My aunt had one and I gotta tell you, its truly my absolute favorite car. It rides so ungodly smooth, and its so quiet. It never gave her a problem. It rides like an angel. I drove it once, and its incredible. It handles so well in rain and snow. Best car ever on my list.

The Lexus GX470 is slightly below than the Land Rover LR3, though the two SUV's are pretty similar.

Eh, that's somewhat arguable. The GX is really getting on in years (Toyota REALLY ought to redesign it) and as a result it's been surpassed in some ways, primarily power.

But it's just as roomy, maybe even more luxurious, and similarly capable off-road.

The base 2009 prices of each are $47,615 for the Lexus and $49,300 for the LR3.

Hopefully the next GX will pack the 5.7L and new-age Lexus styling inside and out. That would put the Rover on notice all right!

Yea the GX is getting "ugly" for 2009, haha. Every car needs a remodel every 4 years or so. Look at the Porsche Cayenne. The current generation came out in 2008, and there are already videos on Youtube about the 2010/2011 Porsche Cayenne!

Generations of vehicles change over time, obviously meaning that the looks of the vehicles change as well and become "cooler" or more "status-y" or... yea. (Also power levels and interior amenities increase as well.) The GX470 is a 2003 vehicle, and it's beginning to just "look old".
