Saxon were probably the most underrated of the NWOBHM bands, other than Venom. If Saxon had a manager like Rod Smallwood or Jayne Andrews, they'd have been as big as Priest and Maiden.

Underrated? No. The funniest one, the stupidest one, the ugliest one. The future Spinal Tap bas player toured with them before shooting the movie. Almost all jokes there came from Saxon.

Lars ulrich is a dickhead but he does like Saxon. Saxon are gods of metal, they spanded almost 5 decadeds of heavy metal rock n roll how many can say that , even their slight line up changes they still rock today. I love their new stuff, Nibbs is a beast of a bass player, Nigel is my favorite rock drummer of all time, Biff is the man, Paul Quinn is one hell of a guitarist and so is Doug. Those who dis the newer line up need to re think.. Although I love the old guys Saxon still rocks..

@TheShepster80. I watched Lars talking on a DVD about Rainbow and he said they were his favorite band for like 3 solid years...put a camera in front of his face and he'll say he loves whatever band is being featured- Saxon, Motorhead, Rainbow, Anvil, on and on.

I saw the band open for RUSH in Cape Cod Ma.when they first came over Saw them support AC/DC in Boston, Back in Black Tour . Met them In New Jersey ,Great Guy 's very humble. I hope the original line-up still get along ...Life is too short They are the Best!!!!!!!!

saw Saxon support Motorhead on the Bomber tour (1979?) and they were awesome ..they were up and coming so still very new and different. Hard to explain to anyone who was not around at the time. You kinda cant imagine what metal was like before Saxon, Maiden and all the bands that didnt make it big but had massive influenece on all the metal kidz . the buzz and impact of the NWOBHM. So long ago now. wot I would give for 5hrs being 17 years old at a Cardiff Top Rank on a heavy metal night :0)

Was lucky enough to see Saxon support Motorhead back in '08 in Cambridge... have to say, Saxon were better than Motorhead lol.

Only one thing I will say... Lars Ulrich: Mate, seriously. Stop brown nosing and make up your mind as to which band influenced Metallica the most.

Surely they would have at least had the decency to pay homage to them, apart from putting in their 2 cents worth for this film. As much as I love Saxon.. I will say they're horribly underrated and I doubt many people will watch this. Lars must be desperate to plug his name.
