However, these things don't just appear overnight, in the meantime Ethiopia should look to stop expansion of it's population of almost 80 million. If the population of Ethiopia was 60 million the people could be living in a land of plenty.

With limited land of a good farming quality the same problems will return, and one cannot always rely on foreign trade to make up the deficit. Once you are reliant on food imports for survival you are little more than a dependent on others. That is why a birth control/family planning program is important.

But youre right that Africa does have a lot of good farming land, but the horn of Africa doesnt. In Ethiopia, the good lands are limited to the north west. Even China, India face serious problems due to the size of their populations, especially if they continue to grow.

One cannot rely on generosity when it comes to migrating. Even as skilled labourers, the numbers needed are finite. I don't think China and India are the best models for progress either. Both have become rich and have eliminated famine, for now. But india is full of poverty nontheless, and Chinese workers are exploited.
