I got this phone after the shitty n97, let me tell you this... it's even worse. They actually made the software WORSE. It hangs all the time and the OS is mega glitchy. Apparently the disaster of returns on this phone will put nokia close to out of business. I've had my ip4 for 4 weeks, and I hated the idea of moving to apple, but the ip4 is superior in every way. Smooth as silk. Hope this helps

Actually, iphone was killed by Anderoid but Nokia is better then all. I still remember when i accedently put my old N72 under Pajero car's tyre, case was brokon which i replaced with new one and used 1 n 1/2 years. No iphone, No anderoid, No samsung, no sony erricson can go through this Hard.

UI feel still look the same as the old model for example N5800XM. The idea to move the task bar to bottom side during landscape instead of keep it in the right side is good. But why the scrool bar still required when the kinetic scrolling is available. It is better to remove it or otherwise make it transparent which only visible during scrolling.

Not only is iphone overrated, it's over hyped as well - Android is outselling iOS already. Only in the US is the iphone top, worldwide it's quite a way down the list. Also Nokia introduced most of the features (Multitasking, Vid calling, SMS, MMS, surfing etc) so iphone didn't change those features....

Nokia, you were so worried about how everything looks within the music player that you completely forgot to keep the one thing that has made Symbian's music player the best one: the ability to create and custom adjust the equalizer to give users the sound they want.
More people use it than you think, and I really hope that it shows up in either the first software update, or the initial software that ships with the phone. Bring it back Nokia. It would be the smart thing to do.

@sangolt88 Android sucks. It's way too resource heavy - I just updated my HTC Desire to Froyo, and i'm getting 9 FPS laggy HD vid recording. Symbian gets much better results with a 680Mhz processor, because Symbian is just so much more efficient. This is my next phone, and my Desire will head the same way as my iphone - Ebay.
@cirkusarena Theres got to be something wrong with your phone, Android is the fastest OS out there, and 2.2 is basically made to make it even faster. Iv'e got the Samsung Galaxy S ad its extremely fast, much faster then the iPhone 4 for example.

@sangolt88 Look at Android forums. Froyo 2.2 on a Desire struggles to get 16 FPS HD vid. Any HD vid I record shows between 9 - 16 FPS on VLC player, and that's after a clean Froyo install. Android is nowhere near the fastest OS - that's why this N8 with a 680Mhz processor has smooth 25 FPS HD, and my Desire struggles with a 1Ghz Snap. Why don't you think the Desire was launched with HD Vid? Because it can't handle it.
@sangolt88 N97 was underpowered - 380 Mhz and no GPU. N8 has a 680Mhz and a GPU for the graphics and UI. My Desire doesn't have a GPU to compete graphically, and worse, even after the 2.2 update, nearly all apps have to still be installed to the phone memory. I've got 15MB left now, and have very few apps installed. Maybe things will improve with Gingerbread, but right now i'm dumping the little green robot.
@cirkusarena You cant compare Desire with N8. Other phones that are new that can be compared, is iPhone 4 and Galaxy S, with 1 Ghz CPU and dedicated GPU. The Galaxy S actually have the strongest GPU for mobilephones on the market right now. N8 may have a good camera and such, but the reason I chose <Galaxy S and not N8, is because the camera wasnt that important for me, the N8 simply fell too short for my demands, and the main reason why I chose not to get the N8, is simply cos its got Symbian.

@rjrex8 although I like this phone much better than the iphone, it does not have enough apps to beat the iphone and it won't be sold at t-mobile or at&t so the popularity will never grow. This will remain a hidden gem like so many of nokia's phones. I just bought the EVO a few months ago so I'ma hold onto it for at least a year but if i was shopping for a new phone it would be between this one and the G2. the iphone is 5th on the list

The N8 is not a flagship phone, at least it is not priced as a flagship [EURO 370, approx. $499, before taxes or subsidies]. With all aluminum single piece chassis, 12 MP C. Zeiss with HD 720p and Dolby Surround and HDMI output...it should be a media darling. The CPU is not flagship speed, but still pretty hefty considering the discreet graphics chip, etc. Multi-tasking, Multi-touch, single tap improved Symbian^3 UI, free turn by turn OVI maps...a pretty compelling piece of work.
i'm a nokia fan and i'm really excited about this new marvellous phone, and i would never buy an iphone buuut we have to give some credit to iphone: jobs said that apple's iphone would make a revolution in the mobile phones. This is a rocket! I mean...Iphone looks like a toy phone, really. No multitasking, craptastic camera. N8 has dolby surround, hd-quality video...it's open source and...it's cheaper. Kind of amazing?

@hektikethnik No it doesn't. Firstly, it's from the 3GS onwards, and secondly it freezes apps in the background, it doesn't multitask. True multitasking on the N900 allows all programs to run in the backround - so I could for example connect via wifi or 3G to listen to streaming radio, at the same time run a navigation program, and stream the sound via A2DP to a bluetooth car stereo! Um, yes, I do that with my HTC Desire. Apple will only allow certain programs to combine.

@rjrex8 although I like this phone much better than the iphone, it does not have enough apps to beat the iphone and it won't be sold at t-mobile or at&t so the popularity will never grow. This will remain a hidden gem like so many of nokia's phones. I just bought the EVO a few months ago so I'ma hold onto it for at least a year but if i was shopping for a new phone it would be between this one and the G2. the iphone is 5th on the list

at first glance it may look like a copycat version of iphone's coverflow but look carefully it's different on the iphone those album are facing sideways except for the middle album..and on the nokia n8 all the albums are facing up..i know iphone fans aren't smart but i didn't know they're blind too..to iphone fans just go back and play your toys stop bashing other brands when everyone knows iphone is the worst phone ever

The N8 is not a flagship phone, at least it is not priced as a flagship [EURO 370, approx. $499, before taxes or subsidies]. With all aluminum single piece chassis, 12 MP C. Zeiss with HD 720p and Dolby Surround and HDMI output...it should be a media darling. The CPU is not flagship speed, but still pretty hefty considering the discreet graphics chip, etc. Multi-tasking, Multi-touch, single tap improved Symbian^3 UI, free turn by turn OVI maps...a pretty compelling piece of work.

If I had to choose between iPhone 4G and N8 I would definitely choose the last one, 'cause I don't care the super visual effects ( Agree that everything gets boring someday), I just want to do different things with my phone not only browsing the now stylish UI for billion clone apps, and N8 is more convincing for that role than iPhone is..

@hektikethnik No it doesn't. Firstly, it's from the 3GS onwards, and secondly it freezes apps in the background, it doesn't multitask. True multitasking on the N900 allows all programs to run in the backround - so I could for example connect via wifi or 3G to listen to streaming radio, at the same time run a navigation program, and stream the sound via A2DP to a bluetooth car stereo! Um, yes, I do that with my HTC Desire. Apple will only allow certain programs to combine.
