  • @jackhorncool how about you, triops have more legs, and the exo-shell-thingy is shaped different, triops do not have three eyes. how about YOU look at triops and then at horseshoe crabs, oh, also, horseshoe crabs are related to sea spiders, triops are not, maybe you should research before posting a pointless comment.

  • @jackhorncool no, they are not.

  • Are you gonna train them? Kabutops is the shit.

  • they are doing sit ups xD

  • How did it taste?

  • @Chebsi

no idea but i guess not much different from eating crab meat. in Asia they cook it with hot chillies and coconut milk, something like curry but milder taste with strong turmeric aroma

  • Does their big round shell help them to trap whatever it is they're going to eat? They don't seem to have big claws to help them grab food.

  • dont you mean the pokemon looks like the crab

  • the only thing cool at that aquarium is the whale shark

  • Is this at the Panda-less Zoo? Most of you call it Denver Zoo.

  • theire rare the first time i saw 1 i taught it was a rock cause i coulnt see the tail,it was covered with sand and all but then it moved so i knew it wasnt a rock.

  • the first time I saw one in the wild it was upside down and dead/eaten at the Severn River =[.

  • I recently was at Edisto Beach and Kayaked to a small island to find a few of these and lots of dead ones, I really wish they weren't so rare.

  • I had a small one in my aquarium...they always bury themselves i hardly ever seen him

  • An extract of the horseshoe crab's blood is used by the pharmaceutical and medical device industries to ensure that their products (e.g., intravenous drugs, vaccines, and medical devices) are free of bacterial contamination. No other test works as easily or reliably for this purpose. It took 10 yrs for them to mature... many people eat the eggs as delicacy which may cause extinction... :-(

  • there older then the dinasours last time i went fishing is saw alot of dead horseshoe crabs

  • Giant triops!

  • neat animals, unfortunate name(theyre not really crabs)

  • yeah they are actually closely realated to spiders

  • All crabs are closely related to spiders.

  • is that so? interesting....well, but kind'a right, if you count the legs...thx for the info

  • The Horseshoe Crab is really not a crab, but more closely related to spiders and mites, belonging to a group of animals called chelicerates.

  • oh. thank you for clarification.

what about the other comments abotut they having blue blood?

  • sounds like the evil aristocracy of Europe.

but in seriousness, yah, they have blue blood, which i harvested for medical purposes.

    They are becoming increasingly rare.

  • Can you use their blood for something?

  • their blood is blue because instead of iron they have copper in their blood.

  • I see. Very interesting; that, I did not know.

  • these crabs win because they got 10 legs

  • Wow, I thought there was like a big crab under that shell, not, well... nothing... They're cool but crabs scare me.

  • i know what you mean when i had hermit crabs

i was to afraid to hold one,and she lost her big claw!

  • lol, I hate crabs, We have big GREEN crabs here, there at least 4 inches long.

  • theyre not actually crabs at all

    its just their name

they are more like spiders with a shell

they are an arthropod specie of their own

  • they're not horseshoe crabs, just big green crabs! I have a psycotic fear of the ocean.

  • I'm terrified of these things. They scare me so much. D8

  • these things are all horny or what ?

  • if they are latched on to each other yes lol

  • Flip it on its back, and attack its weak point for massive damage

  • they are described as "walking frying pans"

  • they're edible too =P

  • really? hows the taste?

  • fishy and tender...eggs are particularly tasty. =P

  • Edwardius, interesting fact about the horseshoe crab. They aren't really crabs. They are, in fact, more closely related to arachnids than to crabs.

  • looks more like theyre related to trylobites [which is extinct[or is it?]]

  • Horseshoe crabs!! They are interesting. Touched a lot of it before. Males have "muscular arms" BTW, are most of the horseshoe crabs mating? They look like they are.
