Just look at the comments of people brainwashed by faulty beliefs of the so called 'mainstream' biologists. Some of them even have hatred in them. lol. Not everything in the textbooks are accurate.
The truth is somewhere in the middle.. Your genes are there on 1st place to provide you with some abilities, but it is not a hard code. Genes can be changed by the environment by switching some parts ON and OFF. But that is within some reasonable range. It is constant back and forth exchange of information. Genes does control biology - if he really gets himself serious I'd like him to think himself into phosphorylation as they did with changing mouse genes and made the thing shine f**n green.

@gergister The important misconception I think many people who watch these videos fall into is the fact that your genes do not change. In gene expression and epigenetics, factors like proteins go over the DNA but do not change the underlying genetic code. These proteins, however, were synthesized by DNA to fit the function of binding to or regulating certain gene expressions. So yea, his ideas really aren't factual in any way. At best he is encouraging people to try and abuse the placebo affect.
@brainphreak Haha it is great, but the placebo affect is very limited. It works best when used in conjunction with medicine that actually works. An example of it being abused would be someone believing in an alternative medicine that does nothing but give a placebo affect and receiving it instead of real treatment. In a case like this a person's chances of survival/recovery are significantly less. There are a few cool stories of the placebo affect working, but the odds are very against you.

If you take the nucleus out of a cell, it would carry on functioning because it has had it's programming (from the nucleus) and may even be receiving signals from the bio-electrical signals of close-by cells. It's like loading a game and then taking the disc out, the game will still work, up untill something new needs loading, then it will say there is an error. I can't agree with anything this man say's, it's not logical in the slightest.

@talmals Sort of yes but mostly no. There is evidence that a head keeps some level of awareness for up to 30 seconds after being decapitated. But it really depends on what you mean by "alive." Many organs and cells in your body will keep working and moving around ("living") for a short time but you are dead. No brain = no life as we know it.

I was told by some stoned-out-of-her-mind alternativist to see some videos with this guy and so far I'm pretty fucking unimpressed. How on earth can you, from the observation that a cell doesn't disintegrate immediately from the removal of the nucleus, conclude that DNA does not control our biology? The only reason a cell can survive is because it contains proteins that were transcribed from its genes, so the DNA still controls its biology.
@Andreastij Furthermore, the cell will have lost all ability to adapt or generate new proteins and will soon perish if it's environment is changed. People also "survive" with severe brain damage, you know. They wont beat you in chess, but technically they are alive. So much for the first part of the "lecture"... Dr Lipton, Your comparison of homeless people to a cancer upon society was wildly irresponsible and false. I hope you never find yourself on hard times in the world. I just said he might have exaggerated in that aspect. But the placebo effect supports his theory. I think the important thing to realize through this lecture is that your environment determines who you will grow up to be. Like say you were raised by criminals, isn't there a good chance you'll grow up to be a criminal as well? I think that's the most important thing I gathered from this lecture. And it supports the placebo effect which is pretty interesting.

Well whatever the case may be, his theory does have some credibility. Especially because a study just popped up that gives some more support to his theory. The study that laughter and music may lower blood pressure, you should check it out. But yeah, I think Lipton was just giving an example on what the extreme result of having control over your cells through thought. It's not something humans can accomplish, but he had an excellent point when he brought up cancer.

It depends. I was born with lower functioning autism and now suddenly through personal development I'm high functioning, the autism is almost none-existent for me. But with Lance Armstrong and other cancer survivors I can't help but feel that there's a connection to Lipton's theories, the placebo effect, and something those survivors did involving these things. that's the only part of his lecture I care about. I think he just got excited by his discovery and exaggerated though.
Honestly I don't see him making money through this lecture. And his theory about how important proteins are makes complete sense. I don't see any malicious "lies" in this lecture, just exaggeration. But this also explains how there are people who have lived to be 140 years old. There's a lot of things his discovery can explain, and that's why I think a lot of the stuff he preached in this lecture had a lot of credibility.

My boyfriend was in a coma and dying of kidney failure and his lungs were filled up to all but a golf ball size amount. I thought, I'm going to try this quantum physics thing, I know it is real, so I imagined white light in him fixing all atoms in his body. 1- I believe this is the sicience behind GM seeds.If you remove the nucleus, then there is no nourishment for other cells, such as in the Human Body. And our own cells will not hv the Energy to reproduce & will die... so our body will start to age faster.

If I'm not mistaken, a cell without a nucleus may be able to stay alive for a while, but it can not replicate itself. So, it seems that Lipton is not correct in saying that a cell is totally unaffected by removing the nucleus.-7:10 in this clip.

it is because of alternative splicing we can have 120000 proteins from only 30000 genes....

it's not that 2/3rds of the genes are missing but that genes, through various combination's, perform many more functions then initially thought. DNA isn't the controlling aspect of a cell, it is a storage center for all of the information needed to rebuild it. RNA is responsible for producing amino acid chains which code for the various proteins that make up all of the enzymes, membranes, communication pathways, etc.
when scientists initially thought the human genome was going to be huge, they were basing this on the various other organisms they had decoded already. Those organisms contained a ton of 'junk' DNA and are not as specialized as humans. Evolution has produced a more streamlined organism, us, with a smaller and more efficient genome.

Problem with resource-based economy is - WHO controls the distribution of resources? The monetary exchange in itself isn't evil - money is a form of trust between partners (so that we can pay with printed paper instead of carrying 300 bottles of milk to buy a cow.. xD) - but I'd say that it is the attitudes and hierarchical structures that REALLY corrupts the world.

The truth is somewhere in the middle.. Your genes are there on 1st place to provide you with some abilities, but it is not a hard code. Genes can be changed by the environment by switching some parts ON and OFF. But that is within some reasonable range. It is constant back and forth exchange of information. Genes does control biology - if he really gets himself serious I'd like him to think himself into phosphorylation as they did with changing mouse genes and made the thing shine f**n green.

@gergister The important misconception I think many people who watch these videos fall into is the fact that your genes do not change. In gene expression and epigenetics, factors like proteins go over the DNA but do not change the underlying genetic code. These proteins, however, were synthesized by DNA to fit the function of binding to or regulating certain gene expressions. So yea, his ideas really aren't factual in any way. At best he is encouraging people to try and abuse the placebo affect.

@brainphreak Haha it is great, but the placebo affect is very limited. It works best when used in conjunction with medicine that actually works. An example of it being abused would be someone believing in an alternative medicine that does nothing but give a placebo affect and receiving it instead of real treatment. In a case like this a person's chances of survival/recovery are significantly less. There are a few cool stories of the placebo affect working, but the odds are very against you.

If you take the nucleus out of a cell, it would carry on functioning because it has had it's programming (from the nucleus) and may even be receiving signals from the bio-electrical signals of close-by cells. It's like loading a game and then taking the disc out, the game will still work, up untill something new needs loading, then it will say there is an error. I can't agree with anything this man say's, it's not logical in the slightest.

@talmals Sort of yes but mostly no. There is evidence that a head keeps some level of awareness for up to 30 seconds after being decapitated. But it really depends on what you mean by "alive." Many organs and cells in your body will keep working and moving around ("living") for a short time but you are dead. No brain = no life as we know it.

I was told by some stoned-out-of-her-mind alternativist to see some videos with this guy and so far I'm pretty fucking unimpressed. How on earth can you, from the observation that a cell doesn't disintegrate immediately from the removal of the nucleus, conclude that DNA does not control our biology? The only reason a cell can survive is because it contains proteins that were transcribed from its genes, so the DNA still controls its biology.

I think the important thing to realize through this lecture is that your environment determines who you will grow up to be. Like say you were raised by criminals, isn't there a good chance you'll grow up to be a criminal as well? I think that's the most important thing I gathered from this lecture. And it supports the placebo effect which is pretty interesting.

Well whatever the case may be, his theory does have some credibility. Especially because a study just popped up that gives some more support to his theory. The study that laughter and music may lower blood pressure, you should check it out. But yeah, I think Lipton was just giving an example on what the extreme result of having control over your cells through thought. It's not something humans can accomplish, but he had an excellent point when he brought up cancer.

It depends. I was born with lower functioning autism and now suddenly through personal development I'm high functioning, the autism is almost none-existent for me. But with Lance Armstrong and other cancer survivors I can't help but feel that there's a connection to Lipton's theories, the placebo effect, and something those survivors did involving these things. that's the only part of his lecture I care about. I think he just got excited by his discovery and exaggerated though.

Honestly I don't see him making money through this lecture. And his theory about how important proteins are makes complete sense. I don't see any malicious "lies" in this lecture, just exaggeration. But this also explains how there are people who have lived to be 140 years old. There's a lot of things his discovery can explain, and that's why I think a lot of the stuff he preached in this lecture had a lot of credibility.

But IMO, there's a couple of things wrong. Help me out her.
1- I believe this is the sicience behind GM seeds.If you remove the nucleus, then there is no nourishment for other cells, such as in the Human Body. And our own cells will not hv the Energy to reproduce & will die... so our body will start to age faster.

i totally agree. more so, he is applying generalizations (determinism, ect) that were prevalent in his time of his PhD, thinking b/c he has this new knowlaegde that no one else could have since they fall into his smal minded view of "scientists". he had potential then he got spiritual. nothing wrong with being spiritual but when you taint your "science" with it and claim it to be demonstrated fact, thats when I draw the line.

It's just like me hearing about particles being everywhere at the same time except when I observe them... How am I to believe that, if every time I look, it's "back to normal"? Sure, you can tell me there is lots of evidence, but none I can look at right now. Same goes with this guy; limited evidence that we were not shown but told exists.

And you shouldn't believe anything, let alone something about particles that you must barely understand. The reasons you believe this to be quackery are the same reasons people believe it to be truth. And you might "know" that solid tables aren't really solid, but not everyone believes that to be truth. Some materialists only believe in what they can see, feel, and observe.

You haven't yet looked outside the box to see that there is obviously a lot more out there if only 1.2 percent of the universe is visible matter. Our experiences is so limited, that it is dangerous (if you care about accuracy) to judge that perception of reality as truth. Have you ever pondered what you would perceive as reality if you didn't have your senses to distract you? (no touch, sight, smell, taste etc)

it's not that 2/3rds of the genes are missing but that genes, through various combination's, perform many more functions then initially thought. DNA isn't the controlling aspect of a cell, it is a storage center for all of the information needed to rebuild it. RNA is responsible for producing amino acid chains which code for the various proteins that make up all of the enzymes, membranes, communication pathways, etc.

when scientists initially thought the human genome was going to be huge, they were basing this on the various other organisms they had decoded already. Those organisms contained a ton of 'junk' DNA and are not as specialized as humans. Evolution has produced a more streamlined organism, us, with a smaller and more efficient genome.

Problem with resource-based economy is - WHO controls the distribution of resources? The monetary exchange in itself isn't evil - money is a form of trust between partners (so that we can pay with printed paper instead of carrying 300 bottles of milk to buy a cow.. xD) - but I'd say that it is the attitudes and hierarchical structures that REALLY corrupts the world.
Take VEnus Project for example, it's communism 3.0 - resources going to the elite instead of money (the ppl starving)
