Even though it proved successful, you gotta admit, the touch screen was a kinda desperate attempt to outsell the psp..

Dont get me wrong, i'd still choose a ds over a psp anyday. but it just goes to show the ds was originally just going to be a dirty update to the gba with a few extra buttons. :| so in a way, the psp is the best thing that happened to nintendo!

Two, Nintendo actually created a CD component for the Super Nintendo which they didn't use and later was sold to a company under Sony. Well... Stryk', I don't think you got the history quite right. The Nintendo DS was out on the market long before Sony even unveiled the PlayStation Portable. The Nintendo DS Lite only improved the core machine, with slimmer design, better backlight and redone placement of mic, stylus, etc but did not add anything new. And well... overall the Nintendo DS sold well over double the units, 70 Million Nintendo DS against 30 Million SHIPPED PlayStation Portables.

As much as i wish that was true, its very over exaggerated lol. as of 11 December 2007, NDS had sold 40 million, compared to the PSP's 20 million (both worldwide). sorry but i dont see the NDS selling another 30 million consoles in the space of 7 months lol.

And yes, the NDS was released before the PSP, but Sony confirmed they were in the process of developing a handheld in like early 2003, theres no way Nintendo had the 'touch screen' in plan at that point.

the ds lite is really cool! it can go brighter 3 levels! you can see colors that you have never seen before! I have a white one and every day i clean it to make sure that it doesnt get ANY scratches!
