  • Wow! Very encouraging to all would be home birthers!

  • You are amazing :) congratualations on such a great birth :) x

  • When I see a birth video that freaks me out, I come and watch yours. I am studying hypnobabies for my second, and know it will be as calm and beuatiful as yours. Thanks for sharing.

  • @pixiefunk Thank you, that's very sweet of you to say. I'm glad that it can bring you comfort and the knowledge that birth doesn't have to be scary!

  • You were so amazing... your birth brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful, natural miracle. Well done mama :) Thank you for sharing your experience! It has helped me believe I can have the home-birth I've always wanted, too!

  • beautiful!!

  • That hypnobaby thing creeps me out.

  • @picatsoforfma Only because you don't understand it. Personally, I like being in control of my own body and having a comfortable birth.

  • @mommymichael I want a home birth too. I just never liked having a prerecorded disembodied voice from someone I don't know telling me what to do in any situation. Those kind of things have creeped me out since I was little. Even audio instructions and the phone robots.

  • @picatsoforfma That's the great thing about Hypnobabies, you can either get all the scripts on CD (like I enjoyed) or have a birth partner read you the suggestions. Which is all it really is. No one/thing is telling you what to do, only giving suggestions which you choose to follow.

  • wow! watching your tummy go down so suddenly when he is born is astonishing! i remember that feeling but didn't think it would be so visually obvious! amazing moment! well done! a lovely birth :)

  • When did you start your hypnobabies program? I am 17 weeks and very interested in this for my home birth in January.

  • @rere0405 anytime in the second trimester is a good time to start. you'll have LOTS of time to practice your Hypnobabies cues. Don't start any later than 32 weeks, you need at least 6 weeks to finish the course.

  • That is so cool, I hope my hypnobaby birth goes this well too! :D The last part where your baby started crying was so funny, ha ha! Thanks for sharing!

  • When I first heard your older son I thought that was the newborn at first! LOL... Beautiful!

  • Beautiful! What a great birth! :D

  • so wonderful...

  • that was beautiful...thank you for sharing such a wonderful and precious moment in your life :)

  • ur a legend :)

  • @skarletsky lol well thanks for the ego boost, but in reality i'm just a mom who wanted something different. Who dreamed of another gentle birth, and blessedly achieved it.

  • Inpiring, beautiful and amazing! Thank you! I just started Hypnobabies for my first and it is videos like yours that reassure me that the choice I made is the right one! The next person that tells me I HAVE to have an epidural to deal with birthing is getting directed right here!

  • Wow, that was inspiring! Thank you for sharing this wonderful video! =) BUT there's one question I have: Where's the difference between hypnobirth and hypnobabies? I don't quite get it...*blushes* And again: Thank you for sharing these memories. What a beautiful family you have! =)

  • @venomousstrawberry I found that Hypnobabies was WAY more detailed. Is real medical hypnosis. And teaches what is called "Eyes Open Hypnosis" - this is unique to Hypnobabies, and allows moms to eat, drink, walk around while in their birthing time, all while remaining completely comfortable.

  • @mommymichael that's what hypnobirthing should have been like. i'm puzzled- i teach hypnobirthing (in the uk) and we do teach about eating, mobility, water, it's complete antenatal and post-natal, about bonding and feeding. we also use several hypnotic inductions, and eyes can be open, depending on the mother. are you sure your practitioner was actually an official hypnobirthing practitioner? anyway, great video, might refer my couples to it.

  • @millatentonsquila

Oh quite sure, I found her through the practitioner directory. How long have you been teaching? I first did Hypnobirthing 4 years ago, so maybe it's changed since then. Although I do know that the Eyes Open Hypnosis (light switch and finger drop technique) are unique to Hypnobabies.

I wish Hypnobirthing had worked for me, I'm sure there are lots of moms who prefer that program. =) As it were, Hypnobabies was a better fit.

  • @mommymichael I'm a new practitioner, and yes I believe the course has been altered in the last few years, so perhaps that's it. Also my observations are that the maternity systems are very very different. We are much more midwife-led, and for the vast majority of pragnancies (unless there are special circumstances) midwives take on the sole care of pregnant women (except obviously for scans). So because we're already more "normal birth" oriented, the hypnobirthing program fits very well...

  • @millatentonsquila

Hypnobabies also teaches birth partner involvement, and common hospital interventions - including risk/benefits of each. I didn't learn any of that in my Hypnobirthing class, which as a first time mom at that point, was very disappointing. I felt like I was filling in a lot of the gaps by myself, until I found Hypnobabies.

Maybe look up the course and teach both? I've been an instructor for Hypnobabies since '07.

  • @mommymichael ... although i know of some spin-off versions. as for not teaching about the benefits of hospital/interventions, i suppose that's true, but then, if we started teaching that sort of stuff it would negate the whole point of fear removal. we're not anti-intervention, just anti-uneccessary intervention, and i had an amazing hospital hypno-waterbirth (again, probably because it was only attended sporadically by two midwives). so i make sure couples feel supported whatever they choose.

  • @millatentonsquila I don't necessarily see it negating fear removal in our classes. Here in the states women are going into hospital not knowing what happens or choices they have. *they're also not midwife led births..* We're able to give them confidence and empower them to make their own choices by giving them information in a positive way. =)

  • @venomousstrawberry I first did Hypnobirthing, and felt like a LOT was left out. Hypnobabies not only teaches the hypnosis for childbirth, it's also a childbirth education class. It teaches about birth, about common interventions in a hospital birth and the risk and benefits of each one.

  • @mommymichael Thank you for answering so fast! It's clear to me now, thanks! =)

  • did the baby land in the pool

  • @Ilovevideos899 you should watch and find out! =)

  • Awesome video!! Congratulations!

  • What a beautiful birthing experience. I am pregnant with my third child, and will be attempting a hypnobirth. This video has encouraged me to continue with my decision.

  • Thank you for sharing your birth exspearience you are so right I actully look forward to giving birth because it is so speshel to be able to go threw such a rewording expearence in fact when I had my second one in the car he was 9 pounds 8 oz and delivering him actully felt good I know some people think I am crazy but you just have to believe in yourself and now I am dew to have my fourth and we are going to have this one at home and my husband can finely be here I am soo excited.

  • WONDERFUL! You did so well. i am doing the hypnobabies home study now. im 30 weeks and can not wait for my birthing time! congrats to you!

  • Thanks for posting. I'm going to order hypnobabies this week.

  • Awesome birth story. Thanks for sharing!

  • This video was amazing. I have battling with the idea of having a water birth /natural birth, and decided that I will only watch inspirational videos like this one to show me that I have nothing to fear. What was really amazing was seeing your stomach shrink within a few secs, I've not seen that yet .

  • Congratulations good work. good video

  • Thanks very much for sharing this beautiful video of your hypnobabies home birth. You did awesome :)

  • This is a wonderful video; thank you so much for sharing. It brought tears to my eyes.

Was this your first hypnobirth? I'm 32 weeks right now and on week #2 of hypnobabies. I already completed a hypnobirthing class. Just curious if it was your first or second time. This is a VBAC for me. Thanks!

  • This was my second birth and second time using Hypnobabies.

With my first I had started out with Hypnobirthing, and then switched last minute to hypnobabies because i felt like I needed more.

I'm pregnant with baby #3 right now. So we'll hopefully be having another Home Hypnobabies birth.

  • nice birth.....love your belly

  • And your midwife look wonderful!

  • Whitch would you prefer, birthing in the pool, or the stool?

  • I don't have a preference really. I haven't birthed in a pool as of yet.

the birthing stool was wonderful. I felt like he was born so easily, I just pushed along with my body and it was amazing.

I think mom's should do what feels great in the moment. Have an idea of positions you'd like to try to push in, but in the end it may be the exact opposite of what you really want.

Just go with the flow of what feels good.

  • Amazing, soooo well done to you, mum!!! Thanks so much for sharing, it's a great inspiration :)))

  • Thank you so much for sharing this. It is a very wonderful act of kindness. :) Love and light to you. Dylan

  • the other baby playing in the water was so cuteI'm pregnant with my 1st child im 19 and 5 weaks along now i am thinking about haveing a homebirth

  • lol @ the other baby playing in the water..that was so cute. I'm pregnant with my 1st child and I'm going to have an at home water birth. I've never heard of the hypno kind. Can u give me more details?

  • I love this and this is my favorite birth video!!!

  • that was beautiful and amazing. I have been thinking about a natural birth like this and you make it look very easy :D I will definately look into hypnobabies. Thank you for sharing this and congratulations on your beautiful baby!

  • Yes that is a nice name. Just can't figure out why they always end up naked? Is it b/c the baby might be alergic to the fabrics?

  • No. Just by this point I didn't feel like wearing any clothes. I see videos of women wearing tank tops in the pool.. and I think to myself "that would have driven me nuts!!"

  • It's a lovely video. It's the way a lot of women deliver here in Holland! Are you Dutch anyway? Willem is a very Dutch name!

  • Nope. Not dutch. Just loved the name. We thought it was irish. ;)

  • This is beautiful!

  • wow your brith was amazing! i'm sitting here crying right now because of how beautiful it was. you had such a great community of people and your husband was so supportive!

i'm pregnant right now and have been researching a lot. did having a waterbirth really help contractions? how did you flex your stomach like that?

i think you're amazing michael. bless you!

  • Using hypnobabies really helped. But i love being in the water. it's so soothing and relaxing.

I didn't actually flex my stomach. That was just the "emptying" of my baby from my belly. So my belly was just going all floppy. Lol. I didn't notice until i saw the video. Looks pretty neat huh?

You don't see it often because so many people birth on their backs.

  • oh wow that's pretty cool then. haha. i seriously thought you flexed your stomach and was thinking wow how strong you are!

i'm thinking of hypnobabies, but i don't know if i'll be able to learn the technique well enough or thoroughly. if you love being in the water, why did you decide to have the birth sitting up then? sorry for so many questions! i'm having my first baby and i'm just scared out of my mind!

  • Well during the birth, while i was still in the tub, my midwives poured more warm water into it to get the temp up so it would be ready for when baby was born. I got too hot and ended up wanting out. It all worked out in the end. I LOVED birthing on the birthing stool. It felt great! I tried other pushing positions but none felt right until I got on the stool.

I really recommend Hypnobabies. If you figure out later that it's not working for you, you can always do something else.

  • That was amazing. :) I am pregnant with my 2nd child and am going to try out Hypnobabies this time (my 2nd homebirth). My 1st birth was so long and painful, I am still worried though...

  • you can do it!

  • Thank you for testifying, it was a beautiful birth. This reinforce my belief in hypnosis.

  • That was beautiful! So well done, mama!

  • It was lovely to see your birth experience, thank you for sharing. You look beautiful and happy, congratulations!

  • I love this video. I teach hypnobabies and it speaks volumes for this program. Thanks for sharing your experience

  • does that tape bother you

  • no. it's the same CD that i've practiced with many times before, and relaxed to. So it was very natural for me to relax to (and fall alseep) while listening during the birth. I love it.

  • you are so pretty.

    and wonderful birth^^

  • Wow, what an amazing birth! Ive never heard of hypnobabies only hypnobirthing. Well done and congrates!!

  • if you ask me, Hypnobabies is more detailed. I first studied Hypnobirthing when I was pregnant with my first baby. Then quickly switched at the end of the pregnancy...

  • beautiful birth! I just birthed my 3rd child a month ago, and Amy was the midwife at my birth too, I planed to do hypnobabies, but once my birth started (after days of prodromal labor) , I found I was handling the waves better with out it(maybe it was her voice)

It was still just an amazing beautiful birth, The part at the end where you are saying "I did it" is how I still feel.. I swear I am still on a high from my birth.. its so amazing what our bodies can do when we trust them!

    Congrats!

  • Technically that's still using your hypnobabies though! =) You just didn't need the cds ;) What'd Amy say about it? Did you write up your birth story for the yahoo moms on Hypnobabies? They'd love to have it!!

  • yea I really took a lot from it, I visualized him moving down with each wave and my cervix opening more and more each time, and my pelvis being open. I never was able to get the whole light switch thing to work for me, which I think was the problem, but I am glad I practiced because it helped me a lot overall.

Amy said since If I started having any issues staying relaxed she would talk to me about putting the cd's on, but I was able to stay very relaxed ( I am sure was from all the practice)

  • They're main concern from when I was first doing it was "what if it doesn't work for some moms (i think they're more familiar with Hypnobirthing ;) - is there a "back up" and I assured her that yes we teach about birthing tubs, and different positioning, and getting partner involved. But I think her seeing our birth (and the more she sees) she'll become more confident in it and will better know how to help Hypno-moms.

  • oh they were all very supportive of the hypnobabies. When I told them i planed to use it, they just wanted to make sure I started early on.. by 24 weeks (I was like 22 weeks when I told them my plans to use hypnobabies) Amy actually told me how great your birth was, she said you were laughing and everything.

I think it really helped me even if I didn't birth listening to the cds.

  • That is so awesome. I'm really glad that they were able to see Hypnobabies at work.

  • I did a class focused on husband guided hypnosis... the husband essentially becomes the CD and coaches the mom through the process... The class suggested practicing daily together instead of it being mom's self hypnosis. Our instructor's husband had actually saved their first birth... She went into labour at 33 weeks, and breech... the OB said C-S. babe can't turn no fluid... she was crushed and he talked her into trying anyway and got her into a trance, baby sumersauts, head down natural birth.

  • Well all hypnosis is self hypnosis, whether it's guided by birth prompts or not. It's all up to the mom to choose to listen to those prompts.. saying words like "trance" makes people think that the mom has no control over herself, where in fact it's actually the opposite.

Hypnobabies also focuses on dad reading scripts to mom. But all our scripts are also available on cd as well.

I did the homestudy since my hubby is navy. So all my scripts were on cd to practice with.

  • It was hard to watch at first, because of my own experience with homebirth. It was empowering and so beautiful to watch your labor and birth as a Hypnobabies Mama. It brought tears to my eyes...

    What a beautiful birth.

  • Thankyou for your comment Erin. I'm so very hopeful for your own Hypnobabies birth. =)

  • i keep on coming back to this video. it's really the best labor/birth video i've seen and brings tears to my eyes every time

  • WOW you were AMAZING! i only hope my labor goes that well!

  • good husband! take care about your wife! five star i give u!!!

  • AMAZING! I thought it was funny that your older child was the one to cry and not the new baby when he came out!

  • I'm doing hypnobabies for my second birth. My first was really, really hard. What was your first labor like?

Did you find you had to deal with holdover from your first labor? I'm thinking I'm going to have to do a lot of "fear clearing" in preparation for this next one. . .

  • my first labor I studied hypnobabies, but only got 9 days practice. with that I had half of it pain free.

back labor hit, and that was harder to handle with such little practice so i felt a bit out of control, but it was still an amazing home birth. we didn't have a video camera then, but there's a bit of video of baby Roan on my chest in my library of videos.

I did do fear clearing, and just trusted that it would work for me in the way i needed it to. and it did. and of course. i PRACTICED!!

  • Ooooh I can't wait! I'm having my third baby (first homebirth) in January!

  • what is hypnobirthing?

  • Hypnobabies is a Hypnosis for Childbirth program. =)

  • Congrats Momma....You did an amazing job! Thank you for sharing your experience with us!

  • o men, your experience was so beautiful !

I am having a baby in 2 months and i decided to do a natural birth, but i dont know yet I'll do it at home or at hospital, but i wanna no drugs, The pain is natural, we have to feel that to have a baby, is our mission!... Congrats it was wonderful, i almost cried !

  • I disagree on one point. I don't believe that women HAVE to feel pain. =) I didn't.

  • Wow- thank you for posting that! I am having a home birth (due in 7 wks) and start hypnobirthing classes next week! Thanks for showing everyone your experience!

  • watching your stomache flex and empty like that when you were pushing him out was amazing! ive *never* seen that in a video before!

  • that was amazing! i had a birth center birth with my 2nd (wanted a home birth but didnt get one) i didnt have any certain method but kept repeating similar things to myself much like that cd! and isnt it amazing how we dont care who sees us naked while in labor but we cover up after? lol! beautiful birth man!

  • wow! what abeautiful baby your husband is doing a wonderful job comforting you

  • Bravo!

Another victorious birth with Hypnobabies. I teach in SoCal and we need more of this type of video to inspire women.

    Bonnie

  • this made me cry happy tears... im due in sept with my 1st and have always been optimistic and empowered about natural birth. Your video was very moving. Thanks. x0x0x

  • I HIGHLY recommend Hypnobabies. I'm an instructor here in connecticut. We teach hypnosis for childbirth. It's absolutely wonderful. The entire time I felt pressure, and tightening, and then at the very end (the last 2 hours) it was manageable discomfort.

  • Beautiful!! Great job Mama!

  • Amazing!! Beautiful!! I would love for my next birth experience to be alot like yours. You did a wonderful job...congratulations!!

  • Wow...what a beautiful birth! You did great - I hope I'm that strong and enjoy my labor and birth as much as you did when I have children :o)

  • yay they put it back up! i loved it!

  • Awesome birth! This is one I'll need to share with other mothers-to-be. Thank you for sharing!

  • Spread the word on how awesome birth is :)

  • Beautiful birth...very peaceful!

  • wonderful

  • You were beautiful pregnant :)

    Congrants

  • I second that!

  • awesome job mama! I totally burst out laughing when your toddler started crying. it wasnt seeing him in pain that made him upset - but seeing you holding another baby! heheh.

  • i think more than anything watching the baby suddenly come out of me from no where. he always did very well when i held other babies, and even now doesn't act jealous. =)

  • Amazing! I loved hearing you and the relaxing voice in the background. Thanks for sharing your miraculous, empowering birth!

  • Hurray, and thanks for sharing! I really appreciated the love you and your partner shared/showed during your baby's birth. Love the atmosphere!

  • i wish i got video like this for my home birth. this was so beautiful. looks like a very happy family.

  • Thanks for sharing such a beautiful Hypnobabies birthing! Laughing during your contractions...doesn't get better than that!

  • nice... congrats
