I think that their version which I believe is the original,of More than a Woman is much better than the Bee Gees version. This video speaks for itself. Tavares ended up making it back in time and recorded the song. So the producers put both versions in the movie. It was a good match though, because The Bee Gees are better songwriters and Tavares are better singers and dancers. Every so often all five will perform locally in the New England area since most, if not all of them still live around here. Mainly in New Bedford. :-)

These are my cousins. They used to come by my house a lot when I was little.I loved seeing them perform on TV again. The deal with "More Than A Woman" was Tavares and the Bee Gees were very close, so when the Bee Gees and Tavares were tapped for Saturday Night Fever, the Bee Gees wrote that song for Tavares. At the time when the movie editors needed the songs, Tavares were overseas on tour. So the Bee Gees recorded the song in case Tavares didn't make it back in time.

Ok let me make it clear. The Bee Gees version was a ballad, Tavares version is a dance floor number. Same song but different sttyles either way Barry Gibb is a good songwriter.

Tavares give the song more soul and flavour, and therefore is far better than the Bee Gees. The nasal falsetto voice of Barry Gibb sometimes works annoying on this song.
