I think you've already heard this, but your piano playing is good and your voice is smooth, but the low key of singing would match a lot better with tempo much, much slower. Read the lyrics, it's a SAD song. Brandy meets a man that she connects with and then he tells her he won't stay. And then you end with a keyboard roll!! I think you should do this one again, slower, and repost it here. It has a lot of potential.

You have not really figured out the original song arrangement enough to make a reasonable interpretation. If you had, you would be able to capture a certain amount of the true beauty this song has. You could play the bass substance using the left hand, the melodic instrumental substance using the right hand, and sing the song as it was made. Sing the correct melody pitch. What you do shows talent, and I was a mean ass, so I will help you grasp. The song, like every song that is catchy and has a grove, has an interplay between the beat the the upbeat. Syncopation. The bass is on the 1 and the 3. The guitar, and vocals, syncopate, meaning they leave the 3 beat. The vocals syncopate more than the guitar does, meaning it probably leaves more than just the 3 beat. Without counting this song out, I imagine he is barely on the beat at all. Just enough to give structure.

I'm in agreement with some ot the other posters. Slow down as if you were actually singing the song to Brandy herself with nobody else in the room and you are singing straight into her eyes using the subtle dyamics of the song and hanging on key notes to seduce her. Also, I think you needed to amp your singing to let the vocals lead.

I know what everyone's hearing that's off: He's singing and playing in an exaggerated legato. The original is way more dynamic and rhythmic. He's good though. Nerves can make you go fast. But there's nothign wrong with trying something new. He needed the mike to be closer to his face, and he might need to try it in a different key. `Sounds like he's trying to sing outside of his register. His piano playing is just fine. If he slows down and gets the mike closer to his face, the song will sound more intimate and better, but it didn't sound "horrible". Get closer to the microphone and slow down just a little bit and it will sound JUST FINE.
