When I hear other violinists, I get the feeling that they usually go on power and focus mode, calm down, power mode again, calm down, and so on. And I think that is normal--you can only draw the bow so fast for so long--imagine super fast hand job (bad analogy I know).

But VM's playing is constant power at length (and as if she doesn't even breathe when she plays)--but not without dynamics--you know what I mean.

Just musing over my awe really...

If my ears are accurate, her playing is very clean. Not a millisecond hurried or missed. I get the feeling there are a lot of subtleties too. Makes a very pleasant and repeatable listening.

That is the Devils Thrill isn't it? thats one of the hardest to play violin pieces. the story behind it is that a man sold his soul to the devil and in return was gifted with the ability to compose and play this piece. havnt heard this piece since music class back in 5th grade and even then ive never actualy seen smone play it
