For a player like Chris Johnson, increasing the speed of his long runs so that they go by quicker is a very poor decision. People want to see this guy running at full speed in the open field, breaking a 90 yard TD run. They want to see him outrun the safety's angle. Speeding up a long run just makes it look like any ordinary RB could pull it off, which is certainly not true.
