I told my mom when was 15 and was forced to tell my dad in family therapy that we were going to for other reasons. He didn't take it well and it scared me back into the closet until I was 30. I said the same thing to my mom then, I just have to try it out and if its not for me ill go back to being a boy, but I knew that I would never go back, I just said that to soften the blow.

I came out as a lesbian at 20; I'm still 20 and am still working on coming out to a final few of my friends. I did it separately with each person, asking them not to tell others so I could do it myself. For the most part the reaction has been "Oh really? That's cool" but there have been a few people that just flipped the hell out. It's a long process, and I'm still afraid to come out to a few of my friends who are extremely homophobic, but I'm working on it.

He did not know how to react to his daughter wanting to be a son, but in the end he hugged me and said he loved me no matter what.

I only recently told my family but I've told most my friends since I was like 12 (I'm 15). My mum was the only person not completely fine with it, she still thinks it's a phase because I'm so feminine and finds it peculiar that I have so many gay friends. My brother was fine with it, he suspected for a while. He told all of his friends and even told my sister before I could. She was fine.
I guess my coming out has been most satisfactory, with only a small pitfall with my mum.

I came out a couple of months ago (I haven't transitioned yet, but am notified at a gender clinic), involuntarily though. My mom was very surprised and she didn't know (I'm not exactly an open book) but she took it well. She accepted it and my family (her sisters and brother know) took it basically the same she did. It was very surprising, but I'm glad they support me.
Now I just have to come out to my younger brother.

Basically, it took me a long time for me to be okay with lesbians in general, because whenever my brain went near the subject, I would just veer away from it because it hit too close to home for me. So I came out to myself, then to my sister, and then to a few friends, and for the most part I have been lucky enough to be accepted.
I haven't really come out yet. (I'm a lesbian) I live in Norway, in a city called Kristiansand, where the people basicly all are christians... I I'll wait until I move away or something. I'm too much of a coward, I guess.

I came out as a lesbian at 20; I'm still 20 and am still working on coming out to a final few of my friends. I did it separately with each person, asking them not to tell others so I could do it myself. For the most part the reaction has been "Oh really? That's cool" but there have been a few people that just flipped the hell out. It's a long process, and I'm still afraid to come out to a few of my friends who are extremely homophobic, but I'm working on it.
You're really beautiful, by the way.

Yeah, one day, i was talking to some of my guy friends in school. And they were talking about this girl and I was like, " oh yeah. She's cute." (I was planning to come out that day actually.) And my one friend said, "You bisexual." (he was joking.) I was like, " Yup!" Then he said, "You're bisexual? Gosh, no one tells me anything anymore!" And we laughed about it and it was awesome. Haven't told my parents yet though. (I think i might be lesbian though..because im losing interest in guys now..)

I came out when I was 12. I told my mom and she was tottaly fine with it than told some people at school but they told people and they told people so it kinda got around. And then my dad... Well let's just say he didnt take it well and still hasn't talk to me about it and beileves it.

I came out to my mom as being lesbian in middle school... She thought it was a phase. Really though, I didn't know that I was FtM and pansexual at that time. I decided to come out a second time in college by announcing my involvement in the gay-straight-alliance on campus. As for my dad, I struck him down after he went on a church-fueled anti-gay rant. He did not know how to react to his daughter wanting to be a son, but in the end he hugged me and said he loved me no matter what.

She's talking about coming out and starting dressing like a girl, wearing make-up that sort of thing, not the entire transition. You don't have to be on hormones to live as a girl, although you probably won't pass that often.

the way i came out to my mum was i asked her if she had 10-20 minutes while she was watching TV she said ok so i closed to door so my step dad wouldnt hear me and i really just said ill put it as simple as i can and i really said well i want toooo................ i want tooo......... to.. she hept sayin just say it u can tell me anything i repeated the studder process like 3 more times still i sayed it she just jump up and sayed WHAT! i thought u might be gay but never belived u would be trans.

So i'm straight and a Christian, but I do theatre so I have a lot of gay GLBT friends. It amazes me when people assume they're so different from everyone else in the world! Some of the GLBT people I know are the biggest bitches I've ever met, but some of them are so sweet! Idk. Just don't let your sexual identity be the only thing that defines you. I only recently told my family but I've told most my friends since I was like 12 (I'm 15). My mum was the only person not completely fine with it, she still thinks it's a phase because I'm so feminine and finds it peculiar that I have so many gay friends. My brother was fine with it, he suspected for a while. He told all of his friends and even told my sister before I could. She was fine.
I guess my coming out has been most satisfactory, with only a small pitfall with my mum.

I came out a couple of months ago (I haven't transitioned yet, but am notified at a gender clinic), involuntarily though. My mom was very surprised and she didn't know (I'm not exactly an open book) but she took it well. She accepted it and my family (her sisters and brother know) took it basically the same she did. It was very surprising, but I'm glad they support me.
Now I just have to come out to my younger brother.

I'm so happy that your mom was so accepting of you. I thought it was funny how she would ask for her garments back.
Basically, it took me a long time for me to be okay with lesbians in general, because whenever my brain went near the subject, I would just veer away from it because it hit too close to home for me. So I came out to myself, then to my sister, and then to a few friends, and for the most part I have been lucky enough to be accepted.
