You need to go and take a look at the charts depicting the fall of infectious disease at the turn of the 20th century. I might add that infectious diseases where in full decline long before any vaccine was produced for said ailment.
Does it occur to you that Vaccination create herd immunity, and that without the vaccinations small pox would still exist. You can also quickly fix any infection with some alcohol.

This has been going on long before the likes of GlaxoSmithKline and their vaccines came on the scene. I'd use alkali rather than alcohol for an infection. Or better still, hydrogen peroxide!
