This looks very awesome! :O What programs did you use for modelling? I'm coding little projects with DBPro, too =) How long have you been working on this game?
Omg wow nice graphics! What coding language did u use, what program did u use to make the character, and what did u use to make the water and the background, buildings etc?
is indeed a great game with lots of graphics, once I was programming with DarkBASIC, but the standard version, I'm with Gamestudio, to see if I'm better, but it shows that you put dedication to this game, well done!
@Autumn6 Thanks for the tip mate. I collapsed the majority of objects in the scene and was able to boost my frame rate by around 20 fps by reducing the render calls. It's now at around 80-90 fps which should be more than enough.
Dude, this is the best game I have ever seen using DarkBasic Pro. I AM AMAZED! I am new to using dark basic pro and I am thinking of making a game for a school project. I was wondering if you could PM me with some tips. Once again, GREAT GAME!
@zzdesolatezz - Thanks a lot ! I would like the share the story behind it all. But unfortunately 470 characters wouldn't be enough. To keep it short it's all based on frustration and the desire to not having to rely on other people. Back then I was only able to code since I graduated from BSCS focusing on dry software design and programing. So I picked up books and taught myself everything about 3D modelling. It took me a loooong time, but it was definitely worth it.
i got attacked for asking u about what programs u knew of bc my knowledge of them wasnt vast thats all sure i dont mind im not replying anymore anyways to him
The main character has around 8000 tris, including the armor and sword. The entire scene at it's current state ( as seen in the new videos), consists of around 90.000 tris. Unfortunately I can't give you any direct info on polygons per frame. The statistic command constantly displays a value of 2, which is nothing more than the plain in front of the camera. Which is used to render the post effects.
DX Waaaa Damn you Irradic for making such a awesome game! I hope u get hit by a car! XD jk Dude that looks awesome o.o Wish I can do that...... *reach for gun* >_>......
this time u actually showed a lil respect instead of arrogance so ill show u some to but dont underestimate someone u dont even know my iq is near genius level i may be a bit lazy when it comes to searching as i am a procrastinator but my abilty to pick things up fast is far beyond most so i set my standards high from the start but it was all thought out well from the rough draft to the work up to the finished project
I DID read it all, and it's pretty clear that you lack the basic understanding of pretty much... everything needed to get started with game development. You will NEVER ever create "an rpg that looks like the 360s graphics", whatever that means.
The way you type (and try to articulate) makes it hard for anyone to believe your IQ is anywhere close to 3 digits.
Search engines, basic English, proper online behavior - work on these prior to anything else. Have a nice one.
@justmikedamnit and as for articulating anything i articulate how i like as i said i am free to speak as i like you got a problem with it thats ur problem not mine get a brain and stop talking shit bc honestly you are far from a level at which ud be able to accurately argue with me
@justmikedamnit as i said in case you forgot to read or comprehend the fact of the matter is i type how i please i dont use punctuation bc i dont want to thats my issue and as i said i will one day make a game with rivaling the 360s graphic engine as for intelligence were not dancing bc ive already left you int he dust dont speak where you dont know anything about me or my capabilities furthermore didnt ur mother teach u manners now i am done with the banter of a child such as yourself
Why don't you guys take it to a private level. I'm sure nobody is interested in your little online argument. It's one thing being smart, I think what lacks now is a bit of maturity. If you have questions regarding the project or anything else you want to share, post away.
Was just looking at the result of the possible engines out there. I'm beginning to work with XNA myself and it seems that it is a lot of work for little result, but that's just for now, according to the masterminds.
It looks like DB is not for me, as I'm still starting with 3D and I rather code in C#.
Luck to you - game looking MAD dude. Real pro. Laters.
Finding the right engine isn't as easy as it seems. So I can totally understand where you are coming from. The project is on DBPro for now, mostly due to it's ease of use. Maybe also because I've been working with DBPro for such a long time. I only wish it would perform better. Anyway, good luck to you as well and thanks for the compliment.
hey irradic im lookign to get some info me and my buddies are about to make an rpg that looks like the 360s graphics and i was wondering if i could trouble u for some info and programs to get?
Lawl. Well, you're less important. Look at you, begging for someone else to do the work for you, asking them to find programs and information to pretty much get you to where you want to be.
Do the damned work yourself, man -- one of the programs is actually listed in the video name, why don't you start there? Retard. And besides...you want to do graphics which match the 360? I assume this is probably your first attempt at a game, because...well, you're an idiot by aiming so high at 1st. Retard.
@Kingtom0001 i asked for programs that i couldnt find when i did a search and its not bad to set ur standards high id do a rough adaption and then get better and upgrade things but i know the program i wanted one with more potential the only retard is you i wasnt begging i was asking thats calling being polite take the dick out of ur ears so ur brain can function correctly how bout that for a change?
Haha, setting your standards high is okay, but only if you're actually already well versed in the language you intend to use to the point that it's actually achievable. As for right now...I don't think you're going to be very good at the prospect of developing a game with graphics to match the 360...rofl, good luck. :)
I can't really tell, I bought DBPro when it was release but didn't really use until 2 years ago. It's pretty easy to pick up, there are enough examples on the forum to learn from. Yes, I do have a coding background. But the harder part will be the creation of the 3d assets. Took me a few years to get to this point. But there is always the option of just buying ready made characters and other things.
DBPro is not a click&play game creator. You have to code every aspect of your game. So you can have any kind camera you want. 3rd person, 1st person, top down, isometric...as long as you can code it you can have it in your game

ok this is sh... AWESOME... i need to know something.. does DBPro (only) can have movements, creating world i already know and um... i guess you can make your character too right?
First of all thanks ! I'm afraid I didn't quiet get what you were trying to say with "(only) can have movements...). You can do anything you want in DBPro, as long as you know how to program it.
The character and environment were created in a 3D modeler and then imported into DBPro.

Thanks ! Well DBPro isn't very fast to begin with,at the end I'll see how much extra fps I can squeeze out of it through optimization. I'm running this on a 3 year old PC with a slightly newer 60$ budget card (9600GSO) at 1680x1050 at 70-90 fps. The game is capped at 30fps.
This should play very well on a mid range PC at 1280x720.
well, the game is really good, except the low FPS.
I tried to start a game with it too, but, i couldn't import the 3D models i made wih blender and the maps made with 3D world studio however i have followed the instructions correctly.
I don't want to be rude or anything (bad ) but, i think the low fps is a problem with your game and the programming language itself, until you wont make a game engine in dark basic and make the game using that engine .
Best graphics I've ever seen made with DBPro. But most people probably don't have computers that powerful, so I would probably optimize (at the end) because its probably going to lag and nobody wants lag (well maybe a few).

Hey Irradic, try using FastSync rather than Sync. This was an old trick I used back when I used DarkBASIC. It should give you a little speed.
rem Refresh the screen
FastSync
rem Make user able to quit
