@IP6000 Okay people, I'm just going to say this now. Genesis and Super Nintendo are both great. They both have their unique parts about them and it's all based on preference. True gamers like both. I'm not really biased. SNES had Mode 7 and pre-rendered 3D graphics. Genesis had blast processing. They both had great exclusives.
Was Venus terraformed or something? I always wondered about that. The background and foreground art is quite good. The Super NES had a better sound card than the Genesis, but both had their perks.
@IggyHazard yeah, part of the setting from the Mutant Chronicles rpg is that the whole solar system was colonized, before we went and broke everything
Sega's version is faster and more fun to play. The Sega version is also more difficult , something that the lazier nintendo fans hate. The SNES version has better collors but is like in slow motion compared to Genesis.I'm not that slow.Actually most of the SNES games are slow , so annoying ...
SNES version - monotonous . Sega version - lack of some colors but still Sega's version is a winner. It's just more fun ,more interesting ,faster, loud and clean sound and better gameplay
For some reason I have both versions of the game and one major thing I noticed between the two is that the SNES version has a lot choppier sprite animations. The characters kind of "snap into position". Personally I prefer the Genesis music since it sounds grittier and fits the mood better. As for gameplay once again I have to hand it to the Genesis since for some reason the SNES version feels slippery in terms of controls. You have to fight with the controller to get the guy to do something.
snes is betta cuz da characters u play can grab da bad guys & blow dey guts out til u run out of ammo! lol... but sega's... when u die (as Mitch,) u blow up, but leave a arm & a leg floppin around!! (also yo gun too...)
in genesis gore and blood are more clear and animations are more bigger and game play is faster but there is a bid difference between both of them which changes game play experience and i like snes's game play in snes you can shoot while run but in sega you cant but you have opportunity to fire 8 dimensions and in snes only left and right
I think I like the SNES version. Well, it's my opinion. I used to have this game at my super nintendo, now I can play it in an emulator, hehe. Nice video!
how about Beavis & Butt-head on this two consoles(SNES vs Genesis)review? huh.P.S.: for me snes version more like advance in music and grafix more like clear.
I got origal cartridge damn it 15 years has past :D !!! SMD 2 n genesis version rules ;) !!! aND that is the worst MAX STEINER PLAying ever ;) my fav of them two !!! But it is ok !!!
@Eberflame we are talking about gameplay sega has added more to thiers and seems faster and multi pathed the snes is way to linear. graphics aren't everything
i don,t see much difference despites the snes could view 256 colors whereass the genesis could only view 64 colors, HOWEVER by using color tricks, it,s possible to fake 256 colors onscreen.
also the sound is good since the fm chip can simmulate simple snes tunes and the ability to mix 2 digital sounds into the 1 dpcm channel, sounds comes more closer to snes sound wow!!!!!!
256 or 64 colours, what matters for an action game like Doom Troopers is the speed of the game, and Sega Genesis is obviously superior in this compartment.
Well first of all the Genesis graphics have more frames in the animation and the game is faster overall. Really actiony! The soundtrack in Genesis is better too because it's really trance and gritty compared to the SNES sound chip.
I'm an SNES fanboy and I think that Genesis totally wins right here.
Well, Sega version is much better. It has better speed, more enemies and I think the graphics is a bit better. Not to mention that Sega version is more dynamic, since enemies are also faster and you can shoot not only straith but also under certain degrees up and down.
@nooblet911 Why can't you Nintendo fanboys be objective for once in your lives? Doom Troopers on SNES is handicaped compared to the Genesis version: it's slow and you can only shoot straight forward. I checked out both versions and I don't have magnifying glas powerful enough to detect any substantial graphical improvement in the SNES version. And even if it did look better I'd still prefer the Genesis version because gameplay is something I do care about.
this game is like a mixture of contra (gameplay), earthworm jim (shooting), donkey kong country (graphics), doom (the name) and mortal kombat (blood and gore). and it's not a really good game
ya well said and i agree everyone tells me this game is good and underrated and i think it sucks and is a boring version of contra but just my opinion
There is really no comparison. The SNES wins hands down. The audio doesn't sound like cheap midi music, the graphics are far better with more colour as well as foreground graphics that are not present on the Sega ver. Realistically the Genesis in general(due to the later release of the SNES) could not touch the SNES in any department graphics, colour, audio, colours on screen, sprites on screen... nothing. The SNES was just a far more powerful machine, and thats not opinion it's fact.
genesis uses fm synthesis, snes music is based on recorded samples. usually snes has better sound, music sometime is better in genesis, and sometimes in snes.
Your not the only one that sucks at this game. Check out my vid. I didn't do much better... But I think it's still a pretty fun game but I think it's because I'm impressed by the amount of blood they allowed in the SNES version.

I must admit the Snes version looks smoother, and brighter with enhancement of primary colors (common nintendo thing).
The Genesis version looks darker, but sharper, and the music is a lot more pronounced.
It comes across that the game was made with the Genesis in mind, as big gun/mechy/dark/gremliny games looked good on that console.
There is something more "Gnarly" about the Gen version to me, and something more "Cartoony" about the Snes one.
I prefer the Sega one.

SNES graphics were better...and you can shoot at angles with it too.
The only thing the Genesis had was other, extra, enemies.
IceTeaEdwin 2 years ago
What do you "by angles"? In Genesis you can shoot in 8 directions. The SNES controls are broken beyond belief.
firsak 2 years ago 3
I had it in the snes. I could shoot up, down, sideways, and between those.
IceTeaEdwin 2 years ago
My friend had a SNES and i couldn't shoot diagonal without using some weird combinations with sideway buttons.
firsak 2 years ago
@IceTeaEdwin angles were in the sega as well and the sega had more paths the snes was way to linear
