  • Cool, I might try this out actually as I don't have a bass. But which bass do you use to record your vids with? I am guessing you don't mic a bass cab and just use a sim but you do use a bass right for you other videos?

  • can i have the tabs for this dude? it freaking rules

  • 00:24 reapitch is a program?

  • @corporacionmonstruo Yes it's a stock Reaper effect.

  • @fearcomplexmusic thanks

  • I definitely misread the title as Pitch Shift Guitar To Sound Like A Boss

  • wow..this is a really2 good tips..it's very usefull especially for a low budget home recording/musician like me... :D..

THX very much appreciate this tips!! (sorry my english not so good)

  • @lonelysome Thanks good to hear!

  • Hey Fearcomplexmusic, im a big fan of you and your work, and your videos has been helping me a lot! But i would really like to hear how you post-process your bassguitar. Pretty much all of my mixes is ruined because i suck at mixing the bass, so if you would do me this favor to tell me a little of how you EQ and compress it would mean a lot ot me, i know it depends form mix to mix, but a starting point would be awesome. I've also seen you use Trillien, what model do you prefer? Thanks

    Simon

  • @simonpvo2 Thanks Simon! Bass sometimes needs a lot of processing to get it to sit right. As always it depends on the source. New strings even more important than for a guitar. I like a comp with a very fast attack for bass to clamp down on it quickly so notes aren't popping out of the mix. An 1176 emulation like the Waves CLA, Softube FET or Stillwell Rocket works great. Re: Trilian... I like the hardcore model for metal and the studio bass for rock.

  • Would love to hear an extended version of this mix at the end. Sounds badass!

  • Great video once again. Very helpfull indeed!

  • Nice one,very hand tip indeed.Great stuff!

  • Awesome mix at 1:22, I am trying to get my sound to pop like that, sounds like puke compared to this. Thanks for this video, I deleted a few of mine.

  • what string gauge did you use for this?

    great stuff man!

  • @santilo76 Hey I use 11-52 D'addario.

  • Excellent video man, Love your stuff on here!

Is there any way to do this on Cubase?

  • @Speedabob Thanks! Yeah there is, go to Audio - Process - Pitch shift.

  • @fearcomplexmusic

Gave it a shot and works really really well! But I think reapers method is better :)

  • For a bit more of help,i may suggest that when recording a guitar thats going to be bass in a future, record it in the maximum sample rate possible, that gives more information to the digital file and when you transpose it an octave lower,it sounds better :D

  • Keep up posting these video man, this is pure gold to noobs like me

  • This trick saved my many times from buying an actual bass. It works pretty good.

  • Awesome job! Actually, many times ago, when I didn't have a bass guitar, I was doing experiments kind this. But I didn't get so rich and natural sound. Man, you're awesome, love your channel, watch every new video about a year and half.

May I ask you two questions?

    1. I think that guitars tone in the end is perfect, how you did that soft and pleasant sound? Is it only double tracks or + good reverb?

    2. Did you know, that you a good composer? I love that part in the end *__* Want more...

  • @KazanVegas Cheers man :D Appreciate it! The guitars are 2 tracks of Amplitube 3 (one of it's clean presets) panned 75% left & right. EMG 60 (underrated for cleans) pickup in the neck position. That's about all there is to it. Some reverb and a lot of compression so they sit and don't poke out.

  • @fearcomplexmusic Thank you for answer! :) Can you say what kind reverb do you use for clean guitars usually? Anyway, I'll keep an eye on your activity :P

  • proud I had figured this one by myself already :) works surprisingly well!

  • oh my gosh, this is hilarious... hilarious because it works so well. You can't even tell the difference.

  • Hey but couldnt you have used the Octave slider there instead of the -12 semitones, do you think there is a difference?

  • @naminnooman There's no difference since 12 semitones is an octave :)

  • Awesome tip that! Thanks man! :) That's power!!

  • Great! :)

  • Nice ! Good work

  • Oldest trick in the book, but I know not everyone knows of it.

  • Why haven't I thought of this already? This is brilliant, thanks!

  • Nice one mate. Thanks!

  • what a nice TIP!! thx!!

  • Also try using the Reasynth and program the bassline. It can even accompany a real bass to make it nice and thick!

  • That´s something I´ve done all my life :P , take a look at my videos every song have a guitar used like a bass lol, but I used amplitube 3, it gets somewhat the job done thanks for sharing :D

  • Nice !

  • Cool snare mate, what reverb module did you use? Im diggin the lexicon plate :)

  • @Miguelrx10d Hey it's the SSL X-Verb I'm demoing. Really good reverb IMO.

  • @fearcomplexmusic nice i'll try it out. Cheers!

  • Ah, nevermind...

  • What preset is that?Is it custom?

  • I need to give this a try...pretty nifty

  • which DAW is that?

  • @Napalm162 REAPER
