Hey Honky Tonk... how about coming back for one night only, and hitting that criminal immigrant beaner in the head with a guitar! Get rid of mysterio for good.
these wrestlers knew how to generate real heat because of their characters, like good old Honky, not like Cena now because he gets heat because the fans see how fake he is. :)
@hgonz14 Greg "The Hammer" Valentine and The Honky Tonk Man's tag team Rhythm and Blues didn't last very long when Greg and Honky turned on each other.
As for Greg Valentine, you could tell that he didn't like the gimmick of dying his hair black, wearing tights that said "Only The Lonely", and carrying a guitar to look like Roy Orbison. Greg "The Hammer" Valentine was happier breaking the legs on his opponents than breaking guitars on the opponents' heads.
@unsanitized By April 1990 Bandstand had been off the air about 6 months, NEVER could have been on Soul Train, and maybe they could have been on MTV. I know this is an act so please dont anybody say "Well DUH!!" LMAO
I'd rather watch these promos that take me on a trip down memory lane than the current mundane borefest product on television now. This was when wrestlers could actually draw mega reaction and heat from the fans during promos.
@A0n79fRtW Totally...Dude, listen to those fans booing the shit out of Brother Love! And then when Rhythm & Blues are introduced, they get even more heat! You're exactly right. No one can cut a promo anymore, the heels don't get heat like this anymore, and so the babyfaces don't get over like they used to. I hate being one of those "shit was better in my day" people, but at least in this case it's true.
Nowadays, the WWE is so robotic like that they consider us some "WWE Universe" now. Wrestling is so boring now that I spend more time watching old WWE and NWA and AWA 1980s videos than I do the live 2010 product now.
Greg hated dying his hair jet black and you could tell by his body language here. He just seemed not that into the role, still however this team pulled it of. And that theme was one of the best ever in the WWF. Ahh the good old days.
The WWE could take a lesson from any of their previous matches and creative team, especially from 1985 to the early 90's, now 34, I had no idea how good the wrestling was designed then.
I agree...nowadays WWE has gone down the toilet. Sure the matches are more risky, wrestlers pack on more muscle and they got more fireworks. . . but they do not have genuine charisma and the act has been reduced down to sexual scandals and toilet dirt.
This was the ONLY time period that I was unhappy with Greg Valentine. The real hammer, would have taken his guitar and beat the wholly shit outa those two clowns
We dont like crappy music in new Zealand, so the Bushwhackers did what they thought was right, lol!!!! I remember this, and I loved The Hammer and Honkey tonk! Fuck that song was awful though. And I bet Hammer didnt really like having black hair!
As ECW Original The Sandman put it there are two types of heat in this great sport of pro wrestling that we all know and love. Heat because you did something fans didn't like. And there is heat because you stink. Greg Valentine former United States Champion and I.C. Champion. A great man and a WWE Hall of Famer. Honky Tonk a product of WWE's Rock N Wrestling Era and couldn't draw a dime if he wasn't working with Hollywood Hogan or The Warrior.
LISTEN to that crowd boo! I mean what Heat. Unheard of now. cept Cena maybe. But Honky sure knew how to work a crowd. Seems all the more impressive now in these strange wrestling days. How they could take a little and turn it into the greatest nights entertainment week after week after week. Tell the story right and they could get a pop from a Clothes line.
i actually bought that album it is the star of my record collection along with "alone with my baby tonight" by jeff jarrett lolololol honky tonk man was an excellent entertainer!!!should have had more title runs!!!
Brother Love was ahead of the Tannin game!
