They should have at least kept part of this in the movie because it proves Gantu a more important character in the movie. Throughout the movies and the series he's just THERE as a backup character while this shows Gantu's character as an important bad guy.
If they ever re-rerelease the Movie again, they should finish this scene and somehow fit it into the movie. It does a better job of building up Gantu's dark side than just him pointing his gun at a prisoner
Right, right?! And David was one of those great "prince" kinda characters until the TV series made him stupid and lazy... Even though I loved the TV series when I was younger.
I think this should've stayed in the movie because it shows that Gantu is quite ruthless in his effort to not only capture Stitch but to retain his credibility amongst his peers, thus making him a more dangerous antagonist. After all, aren't the most dangerous people those who go to extreme lengths to gain power?
I love this scene, I really wish they'd included at least the first part. (The second part wouldn't make much sense in the context of the movie) Really shows another side to Gantu, and how tough and respected he was. Rather than just making him into a buffoon. Really sets up the threat he poses at the end of the movie.
I think it would have been good to include this scene, too. I also wonder what was the original inspiration behind Gantu's visual conception??? I keep thinking maybe it was a shark, but then what are those things around his mouth and what about his feet???
My guess is they considered it not very important, they didn't think it would keep the attention of kids, or they didn't think kids would understand it. The same reasons most stuff is taken out of movies.
well, at first Gantu was good (he was the captain) then he went evil, especially in "Stich the movie". in the series, he was just a buffoon. Then, in Leroy and Stich, he turned good.
Bah. Stitch the Movie and the series just made him completely inconsistent and bizarre. In the movie he was a cool and calm, slightly xenophobic police officer who was just doing his job.
...then in the sequel he was a completely buffoonish silly guy who had a heart of gold but was caught up with the wrong people. Where is the consistency!!?

Out of all the deleted scenes, I think this one should have made it.

They should've kept these deleted scenes in! They help to make more sense of the movie.

I'm a bit glad that this was taken out. I was 11 when I saw this movie in theaters, and it would have just caused me to lose my attention

When my brother and I saw this clip on the DVD, my brother said, "they should have kept that scene in!" and I nodded.

When this was on the first DVD that very last part wasn't there for some reason and it just stopped when Gantu pounded on the door.

They should have included that scene. It added another level to Gantu, coloring him even more evil than we already thought.
Tdemon 5 years ago
Evil?
More ruthless maybe. But all he wants to do is capture a very dangerous and very illegal experiment. I hardly think he's 'evil'.
