The Vario in the background gave a good impression of the conditions. :) What was the m/s roughly when it was screaming? Is that a DHV 1 wing? Lucky you had the speed bar as it looked like you were going into the lee at one point when you decided to call it quits. Great video, please keep them coming, especially Butser as I grew up on that Hill flying model gliders and I cant wait to hit the gentle west slope myself when I pass my CP. James @ Hants.
@solentfisher No idea what the vario was reading, must be over 10m/s as I had climbs upto 6-7m/s in Nepal and the vario wasn't that manic!
My wing is an oldish DHV1/2 (UP Makalu 2). It is pretty slow and pitches back a lot in gusts. New wings don't pitch about as much so they don't get blown back so badly in the gusts. My wing was going backwards with every gust and creeping forward in the lulls.
Good luck if you fly Butser, I might see you there if I am desperate for a battering!
