  • Old Skool!!

  • i love old school

  • Love the art work!!!!!!! The music a plus brings me back. Yes NY old school!

  • Brings back memories from living in NJ back in the day... However, I think 98.7 Kiss FM had the best mixes by legendary DJ Red Alert!!!

  • oooouuu skvělé :)

  • This is proof that rap has digressed. How many times do we have to listen to today's fake-ass gangsters tell us how hard they are('nt)?

Back in the 80's it was all about talent and creativity...

  • true. Lots of music in the early *)'s was all about being original. Then in the 90's and present it's all about conformity ! BORING music on the radio now .

  • no doubt no bling, real MC's!

  • Not to mention that the average inner-city person in the 80s was a lot harder than these new cats.

  • yep at the start they just do it for reputation and fun , Now they just want money , personally i just listen good old school hip hop ,50pences and others are so fake ...

From france ,DITC ,RIP Big L

    the rest..

ye this station still do good they just use the late version for the 100% traditional hip hop show what influenced me a lot and i recorded always :)

  • oh yeah baby!

  • classic old skool!

  • The beats where so much hardcore back then, its so commercial now. Bring back the old school style of hip hop.

  • It's crazy how rap & hiphop has changed so much in the last 22 years.. Very interesting comparing the rap that was played in 1986 and 87 compared to the crap playing on the airwaves now.

  • I agree 100%! What's worse is that RAP CRAP is being validated with Grammies and other award.

  • That song by LL is DO Wop not Dream

  • Thanks! I couldn't find the title for that one.

  • Thank you for the mix, it reminds me of the real Majic 108(yeah I'm that old)LOL! We don't do shot out's, but if we did, they would sound just like this! The Fat Boys need to be put in the Hip Hop Honors next year, and that Whodini song in here is the jam. How Dare You! Thanks Again!

  • From 00:27-00:58, Roxanne Shante's Beat is HARDCORE!

  • Thanks for the old school mix and grafitti pics!!!

  • I still listen to DJ Red Alert on Sirius Sat. Radio The Backspin Channel.

  • Last graf shot is Five Points in Long Island City, Queens, NYC. All the rest are (were) Willimasburg, Brooklyn, NYC

  • Great video. The choons are awesome but that artwork is just insane. Where are the photos taken?

  • sadly, I revisted these spots in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and the buildings are covered up, painted over, and knocked down... ALL GONE! Thank god for pics.

  • Oh my I think I am having a rap attack!!!!Remember hearing that??On BLS wow me and my brother used to record these axact same ones, this is a masterpiece, thanks for the memories!!

  • i am from brasil .sound gooddddddd old school very gooddddd

  • great tunes on this tape, it's a wonder it still plays, much like my mix tapes of V103 and Kiss104 back in the day. Dj Nab (kiss104-kiss in the mix) tunes were on spot, but his beat mixing was a trainwreck. Tony T Rockski (v103 fresh party)could blend anything. I don't remember the names of the djs in the Kiss 104 kiss rocks the spot show...they did some real mastermixes once in a while, but mostly faded in and out of tracks normally.

  • Glad you dig it. These tracks were originally recorded off of WBLS, Mr. Magic, Marley Marl and KissFM, DJ Red Alert. I dubbed them into mp3, cut them up some more and stuck them together on one track. Unfortunately, I don't have the software cabability to blend or mix...yet, lol.

  • If you release this as an MP3, please tell us where. I love your mix, it totally takes me back, and I would love to have it on my MP3 player. Thanks for putting this up -- I love the photos, too! NYC may have been dirtier and more dangerous back then -- but, dammit, it was my home and I miss it!

  • Queens is in the house!!!

  • THAT IS ROXANNE SHANTE

  • Who's the first rapper in this mix (a girl?)

  • that is the rap I love anything after 2000 not my style

  • THANX FOR THIS. OLD SCHOOLS RULES.
