This game rocked. Everything about it, the music, grfx, track design, weaps... somehow I remember each sequel being more disappointing. Reading some of the posts here though, I may have to dust off the old cube and try the later ones again.

I never owned this game- My friend had it and we would only play it with the All Weapons and Infinite Nitro cheats. The light-bending warping of the environment was so trippy when you spammed boost.

The only racing game better was Extreme G III for the Gamecube. Rare title, but absolutely stunning from start to finish.

I loved that shockwave weapon! Especially if you were behind a cluster of racers. Activate it and watch them all start crashing into each other and against walls.

It's a method they used to keep the frames per second high because if whole worlds were loaded then it can slow the game down. The fog limited what you saw so it had no need to load the entire map if you're not gonna see it all.

@acidglow Actually, the map would have been entirely loaded into memory. It's the lack of drawing things out of fog range that speeds it up. Fog is just a nice way to avoid pop-up. Funny how far we've come in only a few years. Looks like a great game. The video seems to show low frame rate, but it looks fun nonetheless.

Framerate is just do to the video recording. The game doesn't slowdown like that for real. It's actually very fast.

only thing I didnt like is seeing past walls and the ground under me when your racing throws off the sense of immersion and my concentration. I would have to say this game is better though than part 3 with that point aside. At least in my opinion at least FZERO did not disappoint me by the time the Gamecube came around. Maybe I was just expecting too much from the Extreme G series

I really wish there'd be a resurgence of games with this type of game play and tracks...Its just seemed so fun to hit vertical sections, iverted vertical sections, inside/outside loops, and corkscrews...like you were defying gravity all the time like your future motor bike was attached with magnets of some sort...they just don't make games like that anymore...do they?

Used to take the fastest bike over a boost pad, burn a nitro and the speedometer would shoot past 1000. The screen would go fisheye, and you would have a fraction of a second between curves.

No game since has even come close to that sense of speed. This game *feels* fast.
