He's got great wheels but his football IQ is his real asset. When his instincts kick in he's in a different league. They say the biggest factor in determining College to Pro skills is if he can create his own play, Football or Basketball. He calls his own number, makes it happen all by himself, and has uncatchable speed. As only a true sophomore he'll play Pro. As a senior he'll let us know where.
Yes we did lose to App State 34-32. Yet the SAME year, Michigan shit on your cute Notre Dame 38-0. Hahahaha Notre Dame sucks. u lost to us agains this year hahaha ridiculous
@JPfromFlint and all you have to talk about is your 3 str8 wins, you havent been to the rose bowl since the 60s your in the BIG10 only thing that matters is the BIG10 Championship and the Rose bowl, FYI were ahead in both Mich St hasnt won the BIG10 this century and wont, have fun with 8-0 cuz iowa is waxing dat ass 24-0 LOL!!!!
@cousins851 you know a program is pathetic when it takes them 40 years to win 3 str8 games against their rival, congratulations on your win lets see if you can catch our serious record, or better yet our program record 881 wins? i doubt you will by year 2200, little brother
@JPfromFlint So we can't talk about how we have one of the most explosive players in college football? We can't talk about the fact that our offense is incredibly amazing and none of the key players are seniors? Yes our defense blows but last game we played 9 freshman on defense they will get older and better.
Too bad this type of playing doesn't do you much good in the NFL, he needs to work more on his passing. The running needs to be your #2 ability, and your #1 should be your passing awareness/accuracy. He will end up being forced to play WR by some shitty coach in the NFL :(
I wish the kid luck, he still has room to grow I guess.
@maxypooh15 Robinson is listed at 6'0" ... Drew Brees is listed at 6'0". Not saying Robinson well be Brees, as that's very doubtful, just pointing out he could still play QB. Once he gets to the NFL he'll be a WR or RB with (most likely) KR duties. Then he'll probably be used in like wildcat/trick plays. That's if he makes a team. It happens so often great running college QB's never pan out in the NFL.
@TheDcChillin He will never be good enough to be an nfl quarterback unless he gets some serious work passing the ball. Sure he gets 200 yards a couple games passing but that is bc he is a fast quarterback against cupcake defenses and over half of his throws are just screens or easy passes where his receivers can make plays. If he plays good teams or goes nfl, he will only be able to run and will probably become a receiver.

Hey everybody GET OFF MY BACK!!! If you were to see Denard last year(when i made that comment), it was totally valid. He didn't know the offense and was struggling to click with his receivers. he threw a ton of interceptions and was reduced to a wildcat type qb. obviously now that he's learned the offense and is on the same page with his receivers, he is now a superstar. GOOOO BLLLLUUUE!!!!!
shut the fuck up about him winning the heisman. its been two games. if im not mistaken you michigan fans were saying the same thing about fucking forcier just last year. if he can keep this up, then yes heisman. but he got hit hard today. if they do that in the big 10 he is going to get injured. they have to protect him from that contact better.
@goblue193 Yeah, you're right. He has broken records. But they are rushing records. This is really Michigan's first running quarterback so it's not that surprising. Although he did break the all-time big 10 record. What i'm saying is that Robinson is going to have to keep up this good passing (he'll keep the running going) in order to be efficient. Should be a good game October 9 in AA. Good luck until then! I still hate Forcier though. Wont say anything good about that tool.
@cousins851: "not that surprising" Robinson has broken records? 252 yards rushing with a 9 yard average by a quarter back, 502 total yards in one game? How can you not say that this is not impressive? It's NEVER been done in the Big Ten. Tha alone should tell you this was a historic performance. I for one didn't think he would ever surpass the numbers at the UCON game. I found this performance shocking.
@LUTS67 no i said not that surprising breaking the MICHIGAN qb rushing record. seen how they have never had a true running qb like robinson. I already said robinson is impressive. the Big Ten record he broke is very impresses. You need to read all of my comments. Because i have already given robinson tons of praise. I just dont think he will be able to keep this running up throughout the big 10. hes takin some big shots.
@cousins851 For the record, Denard Robinson isnt even close to Michigan's first running QB. Bo Schembechler ran the option at Michigan for 20 years himself. Program has been around since 1879, there have been a few other rushing oriented QB's predating Shoelace.
@kraqah Yeah, i'm aware of that. They ran to option to a certain extent, but their quarterback was not rushing 25-35 times per game. All im saying is that i would be very ver surprised if he keeps this up in conference play without getting injured. I have my doubts, too, because last year you guys were saying forcier for heisman at this point and look where he is now, so before we start heisman talk, i think we should see how he matches up against the big 10 defenses.
This kid could be a very good college QB if he can throw the ball which against Notre Dame he did. He could become the next Vince Young, but still he could be a good receiver in the NFL.
@MegaBoxingman Why would you fire rich rod did you see what michigan did yesterday? its not tht rich rod sucks he just never had the right personnel to run his type of offense at WVU he had pat white and denard's faster thn pat white and we have a good enough runningback where he can basically implement the same offesne tht made him successful at WVU
This guy reminds me a lot of Joshua Cribbs. Cribbs was also a QB in college who turned into a dangerous WR in the NFL. Michigan MUST consider using this kid during all plays, he is too good a weapon to leave on the bench while Forcier plays. Both Forcier and Robinson need to be on the field.
denard is starting!!! he's really improved his passing since the end of last season and he's already the most athletic qb in the country, shit's gonna be GREAT
Okay I am a Bucks fan. From experience..... waiting for your running QB to figure out how to throw sucks!!! (3 years now) Not a big believer in the running QB...... Heney didn't need to scramble to be effective. Wish you MU would get back in the game... miss the big finish at the end of the year.
@ArmyRob13 HA! Yea, they hardly could even do that. Threet STILL sucks! Did you see his stats fr the spring game this year for arizona state? Theyre horendous! God bless him for trying, but geesh, youd think hed at least improve some.
I was at that game and it was very exciting. Unfortunately he disappointed throughout the season. I hope everyone is right when they say his passing has improved as I hear he may very well be our starter this year.
What are you talking about, "disappointed throughout the season"? Forcier has been groomed his whole life to be a QB and enrolled like 8 months earlier than Robinson did. Robinson averaged more than 5 yards a carry when everyone knew he was going to run. He arguably showed more composure than Forcier did at Kinnick during the Iowa game. He was a true freshman playing at MICHIGAN, that's a lot of pressure and hardly a disappointment.
@djkret111 Look, don't get me wrong. I like the kid and believe he has a great future ahead of him. My comment about "disappointment" was in reference to his passing. I should have been more clear about that. My apologies. My concern is his passing game. 8 months less time in the system or not, less than a 50% pass completion, 4 interceptions and 2 TD's in 31 pass attempts is disappointing. To me anyway. Now, I'm not looking for a debate so I'm moving on. GO BLUE!!!
Well it looks like we're both huge Michigan fans, so who cares, haha. They just had their first scrimmage of fall camp today, I heard there were some impressive guys out there.
he's a BADD m/f on the ground but when it comes to passing......Michigan has to find a way to make him a part of the offense without being quarterback. Go Blue!
@sumdumfoo1 You didn't see the spring game did you. His passing is much improved. I was actually shocked by the improvement. Crisp, accurate passes, and patience in the pocket. Looked pretty solid, and definitely like a solid qb.
Im a diehard michigan Fan that likes miami. This blazing speed with an arm, DRob would be the most dangerous QB in UM history. Although I think Tate is more experienced and has better reads than DRob but if DRob were to work on those He'd be heisman worthy. For now thou i think they oth are neck-to-neck. Can't wait for Dorsey to come to Ann Arbor, he has what Michigan needs SWAGGER!!! =P. Well Wish Miami luck next year and hope they beat OSU, even thou they r in our conference. Go Blue!!!!
Gotta love that Florida speed. I follow recruiting in south FL being a Miami fan, and all I gotta say is wait til you Michigan fans see Demar Dorsey next year. If you like Denard, you're gonna get wood when you see this kid.
@cmbuvi92 He didn't start because Tate graduated a semester early and was able to go through spring practice, so he had a huge head start in learning the offense. Also, and I'm just going by what I've seen, Tate was lightyears ahead of Denard in pure passing skill.
Who knows how it will play out now that Denard has had a full year in the offense and a full offseason, though.
@dustomatic1974 Yeah I agree that Tate is a far better passer, but honestly miday through the season Michigan needed a change to spark some wins. Robinson would have done that. Plus in Rodriguez's offense, all you need to do as a passer is be able to do simple passes. In my opinion, Robinson starting a couple games last season would put him ahead of Tate for next season
This kid is the best thing to happen to Michigan since Charles Woodson. Wait and see. He is going to be something special. He looked SO GREAT at the spring game 2010. I'm excited to see how he has progressed during this off-season.
It was a prediction. Learn to read. What has he done to base this prediction off of? He has shown exceptional play-making ability and has improved drastically over the off season.
@collins1188 Then you say, this kid could possibly be the next best thing since Charles Woodson. You said, This kid IS the next best thing since Charles Woodson.
god he made me yell when he played against Iowa in the 4th quarter instead of Tate! just made this guy a RB Rich it would be smart, although u havent really helped at all since u've coached at Michigan
wait till they start running the option with him thats something rich rod hasnt even put in the offense yet the fake hand off and if the end pulls the qb takes the ball and has the other rb come w him gonna be great
This kid will have a breakout year this year has anyone seen him lately ?? The kid is pure muscle plus another year for him to get comfortable and learn the plays is not bad either
I understand that ... but you still have Nick Sheridan there....
I understand that Denard is the best possible backup but sometimes it's not smart to have a potential star at a different postion sitting on the bench for "stability"
Also, Denard knows the system now ... and even if he is running back and Tate gets injured, you can still throw the kid back at QB.
But never the less ... he NEEDS TO BE ON THE FIELD.
@HailToTheVictors21 he's nowhere as good as Tate and Gardner will surpass him eventually if he wants to go Legend he has to switch positions . Only hope Rich knows that he waited to the end of the year to give him snaps @ non QB positions
agreed put him somewhere else and even let him take snaps at the wildcat he will be a playmaker this year last year he just was to confused and his head was spinning this year will be alot bettter for him to learn and just let his talent shyne instead of thinking too much
@ChargersLVII - I agree ... i don't understand why this is such a difficult decision!
Tate Forcier is our clear cut starting quarterback - you have Devin Gardner / Cornelius Jones coming in to compete for the job. WE DON'T NEED A FOURTH PERSON IN THAT RACE!!!!
Denard is 6'1.5, 215, and can run a 4.3 fourty. Why isn't he going to be our starting RB, kickoff returner, and run the wild-cat every now and then ..?
Do you think i should try to be coach, cuz this seems pretty simple... haha
Well they did need denard at qb last year for back up. But now they do have the luxury of Devon Gasrdner, who will have spring football under his belt.
I think if they can get him familiar with playing rb(learning to fall forward, making reads ect.) , he will start at rb for as long as he is at Michigan. And have a very good chance at going pro. He is not only fast, but he has great leg strength and is very hard to bring down. he does not break stride through attempted arm tackles.
@HailToTheVictors21 well they still wanna keep him at backup because they dont wanna burn devins red shirt and they wanna have some experience at the back up position but i do wanna see this kid take snaps else where and return kicks
@HailToTheVictors21 you're dead right man time to turn Denard Robinson into brad smith line him up a WR slot receiver, sneak him and Vonte smith on the field in 2 backs sets, even go small and line him up at TE then go wildcat with a throwing option like you said I think he could be HIESMAN WINNER as a all purpose player. And if he wants to play in the NFL he better force Rich to let him play that way
That is what he is in. What do you think the wild cat is based off of? Its for teams who want to run the "spread-read option" But don't have a running QB.
he only made one mistake in the iowa game...it just happened to end the game. but that was just inexperience. that last drive he was really accurate and smart. he just freaked out because the protection was so good that he was back for so long that he thought he would get sacked.
I think if they can get him familiar with playing rb(learning to fall forward, making reads ect.) , he will start at rb for as long as he is at Michigan. And have a very good chance at going pro. He is not only fast, but he has great leg strength and is very hard to bring down. he does not break stride through attempted arm tackles.
i know d robs fast and all but he needs to work on his throwing. not hatin on him but he just isnt that good of a throwing qb. if he works on that then in the next 4 years him and tate will be the best qb combo in the nation if not already
Robinson needs to work on his mechanics before he starts making long passes and starting at qb, but he's got a strong arm and they should only put him in for qb draws, options, and short passes. No long passes, that's what Forcier does best. If we had Nick Sheridan at starting qb this season we would probably be 0-6, that's how bad he sucks. Forcier for heisman next season.
im sure he can catch a kick off if he cant than damnn he really is a track kidd in football gear i havent played football since high school but shit even i can catch a kick off lol soo i hope he can
for sure man... but being able to catch a kick off and catching one in the heat of the game is quite different, we saw what Matthews did last week! it would definitely be fun to watch because of his speed but, so dangerous... remember McGuffie takin kickoffs last year? he would get goin and then take a hit and drop the ball...
Why dosen't he just go barefoot? It won't make a difference.

@MegaBoxingman Why would you fire rich rod did you see what michigan did yesterday? its not tht rich rod sucks he just never had the right personnel to run his type of offense at WVU he had pat white and denard's faster thn pat white and we have a good enough runningback where he can basically implement the same offesne tht made him successful at WVU

imkool51391 1 year ago
This guy reminds me a lot of Joshua Cribbs. Cribbs was also a QB in college who turned into a dangerous WR in the NFL. Michigan MUST consider using this kid during all plays, he is too good a weapon to leave on the bench while Forcier plays. Both Forcier and Robinson need to be on the field.
86chitown 1 year ago
denard is starting!!! he's really improved his passing since the end of last season and he's already the most athletic qb in the country, shit's gonna be GREAT
grasd2 1 year ago
Okay I am a Bucks fan. From experience..... waiting for your running QB to figure out how to throw sucks!!! (3 years now) Not a big believer in the running QB...... Heney didn't need to scramble to be effective. Wish you MU would get back in the game... miss the big finish at the end of the year.

I was at that game and it was very exciting. Unfortunately he disappointed throughout the season. I hope everyone is right when they say his passing has improved as I hear he may very well be our starter this year.
RabidWolvBlue 1 year ago
@RabidWolvBlue
GO BLUE!
djkret111 1 year ago
@djkret111 Look, don't get me wrong. I like the kid and believe he has a great future ahead of him. My comment about "disappointment" was in reference to his passing. I should have been more clear about that. My apologies. My concern is his passing game. 8 months less time in the system or not, less than a 50% pass completion, 4 interceptions and 2 TD's in 31 pass attempts is disappointing. To me anyway. Now, I'm not looking for a debate so I'm moving on. GO BLUE!!!

Go Blue!!!!
Buznanaz 1 year ago
Gotta love that Florida speed. I follow recruiting in south FL being a Miami fan, and all I gotta say is wait til you Michigan fans see Demar Dorsey next year. If you like Denard, you're gonna get wood when you see this kid.
Hworth8 1 year ago
why doesnt he start? he's a speedy pat white
cmbuvi92 1 year ago
@cmbuvi92 He didn't start because Tate graduated a semester early and was able to go through spring practice, so he had a huge head start in learning the offense. Also, and I'm just going by what I've seen, Tate was lightyears ahead of Denard in pure passing skill.
Who knows how it will play out now that Denard has had a full year in the offense and a full offseason, though.
dustomatic1974 1 year ago
@dustomatic1974 Yeah I agree that Tate is a far better passer, but honestly miday through the season Michigan needed a change to spark some wins. Robinson would have done that. Plus in Rodriguez's offense, all you need to do as a passer is be able to do simple passes. In my opinion, Robinson starting a couple games last season would put him ahead of Tate for next season
cmbuvi92 1 year ago
@cmbuvi92 I think another issue was Denard's perpensity to fumble. He had quite a few turnovers mid-season.

@OSUjunki "What exactly has Denard done yet?"
It was a prediction. Learn to read. What has he done to base this prediction off of? He has shown exceptional play-making ability and has improved drastically over the off season.

TheGloveMI 1 year ago
This kid will have a breakout year this year has anyone seen him lately ?? The kid is pure muscle plus another year for him to get comfortable and learn the plays is not bad either
TheGloveMI 1 year ago
I understand that ... but you still have Nick Sheridan there....
I understand that Denard is the best possible backup but sometimes it's not smart to have a potential star at a different postion sitting on the bench for "stability"
Also, Denard knows the system now ... and even if he is running back and Tate gets injured, you can still throw the kid back at QB.
But never the less ... he NEEDS TO BE ON THE FIELD.
Go Blue
HailToTheVictors21 2 years ago
@HailToTheVictors21 he's nowhere as good as Tate and Gardner will surpass him eventually if he wants to go Legend he has to switch positions . Only hope Rich knows that he waited to the end of the year to give him snaps @ non QB positions
LT313beats 2 years ago
agreed put him somewhere else and even let him take snaps at the wildcat he will be a playmaker this year last year he just was to confused and his head was spinning this year will be alot bettter for him to learn and just let his talent shyne instead of thinking too much
MICHIGANallDAY2 1 year ago
Just imagine all thier talent with another year experience and much needed depth . They are going to be great
devewrter27 2 years ago
lol glad to hear that. now lets see it happen eh?
HailToTheVictors21 2 years ago
@ChargersLVII - I agree ... i don't understand why this is such a difficult decision!
Do you think i should try to be coach, cuz this seems pretty simple... haha
HailToTheVictors21 2 years ago
Well they did need denard at qb last year for back up. But now they do have the luxury of Devon Gasrdner, who will have spring football under his belt.
devewrter27 2 years ago
I think if they can get him familiar with playing rb(learning to fall forward, making reads ect.) , he will start at rb for as long as he is at Michigan. And have a very good chance at going pro. He is not only fast, but he has great leg strength and is very hard to bring down. he does not break stride through attempted arm tackles.
devewrter27 2 years ago
But I dont think he wieghs 215 (it would be great to see him get there). I think he is still below 190.
devewrter27 2 years ago
@HailToTheVictors21 well they still wanna keep him at backup because they dont wanna burn devins red shirt and they wanna have some experience at the back up position but i do wanna see this kid take snaps else where and return kicks
MICHIGANallDAY2 2 years ago
@HailToTheVictors21 you're dead right man time to turn Denard Robinson into brad smith line him up a WR slot receiver, sneak him and Vonte smith on the field in 2 backs sets, even go small and line him up at TE then go wildcat with a throwing option like you said I think he could be HIESMAN WINNER as a all purpose player. And if he wants to play in the NFL he better force Rich to let him play that way
LT313beats 2 years ago 2

Kick Returner
Punt returner
He could probably do it all :p

he only made one mistake in the iowa game...it just happened to end the game. but that was just inexperience. that last drive he was really accurate and smart. he just freaked out because the protection was so good that he was back for so long that he thought he would get sacked.

phillyeaglesboy 2 years ago 2
Robinson needs to work on his mechanics before he starts making long passes and starting at qb, but he's got a strong arm and they should only put him in for qb draws, options, and short passes. No long passes, that's what Forcier does best. If we had Nick Sheridan at starting qb this season we would probably be 0-6, that's how bad he sucks. Forcier for heisman next season.

for sure man... but being able to catch a kick off and catching one in the heat of the game is quite different, we saw what Matthews did last week! it would definitely be fun to watch because of his speed but, so dangerous... remember McGuffie takin kickoffs last year? he would get goin and then take a hit and drop the ball...
