  • by the way in my opinion this is a moral issue. the question is not "should the camera crew stop her?" but is in fact "should the camera crew THAT ARE HUMANS stop her?"... and I think yes they should, because they are humans and then they are camera people. Imagine that the girl dicided to jump off a cliff... should they film the show or stop her? its the same shit... those guys where totally greeddy assholes -.-

  • holy shit this host is hot! whats her name pls? XD

  • As human beings they should have stopped the drunk driving. They could have been complicit in someones death.

  • As far as 'documentaries' go, Intervention is the most formulaic forced narrative dribble out there. If you're filming a real fucking documentary then no, don't get involved. But if you're filming for a TV show that is basically the same horse, different colour each episode then don't be a pretentious asshole. Prevent a tragedy.

  • ever think that the producers didn't wanna get RUN THE FUCK OVER by a drunk driver? thats a great reason to move out of the goddamn way.

  • Joel looks wasted.

  • driving drunk is illegal yes, but so is doing drugs like cocaine, meth, heroin, etc.

  • Kristin.. calls them criminals... Oh yes.. Like it is the fault of the people filming that she is driving. THe fucking woman is the criminal the camara crew did the right thing by not stoping here.. If they would the show is fake .

  • I'm not sure how it is in the U.S. but here in Canada bartenders are responsible if someone leaves drunk to drive. People can technically be charged if the let people drink at their house then drive home drunk. I haven't heard of any cases where it's been done, but the responsibility is understood to be shared by everyone. If I see someone who is obviously drunk and they get into a car to drive, I am responsible for stopping them if I can. Not for them but for other people they could hurt.

  • Its the same thing as a bar or night club letting drunks drive home, is it there responsibility? no.. should it be? perhaps

regardless it is sad how manny people are lost due to DWI and more enforcement should be implemented to stop it in general.

  • Face it! they didn't not stop her because they wanted ratings and shock value! To use excuses like "untampered view" and "true video" is an excuse to not doing the right thing because they wanted ratings" Also is "Joel from Montana" real? He looks like he took a few swigs of Vodka before the intervview!

  • this is dumb shit. if they get involved there then they would have to stop the people from doing drugs or drinking on camera. i dont condone letting her drive, but its all or nothing people.

  • As a server at a restaurant, if I let someone get behind the wheel when they are drunk and they go get in a car accident and injure/kill someone, I can be personally sued - even if I didn't realized that person was drunk. A&E new FULL well that she was dangerous and did nothing - everyone saying it is none of their business has obviously never experienced the loss of a loved one due to drunk driving. What if that lady had gone out and run over a 3 year old... would we take it seriously then?

  • lol people are so retarded wow. they cant stop her there making a movie its her car she can do what she wants if she wants a DUI let her get it

  • @caseylesiak

But it could have been far worse than a DUI. What if she would have killed someone? It's a public duty, film maker or not, to report or try and stop something such as a person getting in a car intoxicated. Just like if anyone else were to witness someone beng reckless and endangering other peoples lives, should they just turn away from it all?

also, it's "they're" not "there", retard.

  • @cachinno123 rofl get all emo why dont you it doesnt matter theres nothing you can do about it if there gonna leave there gonna leave theres nothin you can do about it its "their" car.

    retard? good one.

  • She would have gotten into her car and driven, regardless of whether or not they were filming, or even there!

    Yes, drunk driving is bad.

Yes, the woman had a problem, hencing why she was on the show.

But for god sake, dont blame the film crew!

You may as well blame the car dealership for selling her a car even!

And to top that off, how many of us use cell phones or text while driving?!

    Anyone ever think of that??

  • they get involved once they give the subject money for their addiction....

  • U can't really do anything wen ur just filming cause it's not ur bisnes

  • i have to agree, they shudnt step in cuz its a real show so whatever happens, happens

  • are people that clueless about how many drunk drivers are on the road at a given time? after 10 pm the percentage of drivers who are over the legal limit goes up a lot each hour. not saying it's right, but it's not at all uncommon and most of the time there's no accident and nobody gets hurt. almost twice as many fatalities are caused by sober drivers as drunk drivers.

  • @nogoodbastid are you a moron....there are way more than double sober drivers than there are drunk drivers. so that means that the precentage of "accidents" caused by drunk drivers compared to sober drivers is extreamly high.

  • @Onimbus just quotin the facts, fella. 37% of vehicular fatalities are alcohol related. that includes people that have been drinking at all, not just over the legal limit. so 63% of fatalities are from drivers who have not been drinking. if they took a survey of people who have driven drunk and took from THAT percentage people that have been in an accident alcohol related, let's talk. ever driven after a few beers?

  • @nogoodbastid the precentage of non drinking people far far exceeds the amount of people who drive drunk. follow me now. so the 37% of fatalities are from people who have been drinking compared to 63 percent of fatalities of people who have not been drinking. do you realize that this does not mean that 37% of people driving are driving drunk. a very small precentage of the people on the road have actually been drinking yet they account for 1/3 of the accidents.

  • @Onimbus i understand that buddy, but i don't give a shit. the fact remains that you are almost twice as likely to be killed by a sober driver than by a drunk driver. whooo! suck on that sobers.

  • @nogoodbastid are you retarded?

  • @arngre in america private citizens can't be expected to act like police officers. that puts them at risk.

  • I have seen on a number of occasions on Intervention, that they do stop the addict when they are about to get behind the wheel. I think Intervention does a LOT of good... getting these people the help they need!

  • It's not just drink driving - what about all of the ones that take drugs (prescription or other), huff duster or whatever else that they do? None of these people should be in control of a vehicle! The very least they should do is call the police or take their keys - it's common sense damn it!

  • america is the only place where they have real issues, and instead of taking the money to help pple, spend millions and millions to make shows about war, terror, forensics etc.. all in the name of profit.. what a world.

  • @ecsgrl Couldn't have said it better myself.

  • do all these "outraged" ppl even realize that thousands and thousands of ppl drive drunk every day? probably not or theyd have a coronary, ppl so uptight you couldnt pull a needle outta their ass with a tractor

  • this is sooooo dumbb. she drives like that every day undoubtelby... the whole point of the show is to show the reality.. if they r gonna do shit like take her keys the show is pointless

  • If you watched the A&E show Lawman featuring Actor and JPSO Reserve Deputy Steven Seagal You Probably are asking yourself how and why would anyone sworn to uphold the oath and integrity of the Law allow several Obvious and Admitted Drunk Drivers to simply walk without arrest after the episode started with a major traffic accident that involved to guys who had just left a bar? not only was one drunk driver allowed to walk but had his opened container of Alcohol returned to his vehicle by a Deputy

  • its called fucken RATINGS!!!!

  • Reality shows should be about reality. And DUI is part of alcoholic`s reality, by showing it - they invite the viewers to reflect on their own behaviors. CNN is worthless.

  • It's not their responsibility to take care of her. They were there to film, nothing else. That was her decision. She would have done it whether they were there or not.

  • exactly.

  • So if she were to, instead of drive drunk, attempt or commit suicide the show should not have to stop her?

  • i think they did the right thing because its more fun to watch those idiots do the stupid shit they do. By the way this show is funny

  • What many people don't know is that the camera crew is strictly not allowed to interact with whoever they are filming. Personally, I do think it was irresponsible for the producer not to step in... She could've killed someone!

  • Yeah, i think they should have stopped her like they tried 2 stop that one girl laney when she downed that whole bottle of pills.

  • No, they were right to have let her drive. She is an adult and makes her own decisions. She is responsible for her behavior. The camera being there is incidental.

  • What about the people who didn't make the decision for her to get behind the wheel? Your logic is fail.

  • Your English doesn't make sense. Can you try again? I want to understand your point. I know writing in another language is hard. No sarcasm.

  • Lol, English is my first language. I take it you don't spend much time on the internet. "Your logic is fail" is a meme. If you don't know what a meme is then look it up. Since you can't seem to comprehend; she made the decision to drive drunk but what if she kills someone? Was it their decision for her to drive drunk? No. She may as well start shooting blindly into a crowd. English enough for you?

  • they ABSOLUTELY should have stopped her. i completely understand the camera crew wanting to refrain from interfering as to collect raw, untampered footage, but there comes a point in time when enough is enough. that woman could have killed someone. that's not art, that's irresponsibility.

  • She should of have been stopped but this is still a real life show. Intervention is ment to show these peoples familly and us how bad these people need help. Letting her drive off was wrong but thats why she also needs help.

  • i said the exact same thing about the producers..

  • As someone who used to date a full-blown alcoholic, if you knew how bad this addiction was, you would not joke like that. My ex-boyfriend had many chances to clean up his act w/a lot of help offered from many people. But, he would prefer to have his booze than to have me or even his daughter in his life. He's a walking mess of a human being but yet continues to drink. Until they want help, there is not a lot that family/friends can do after offering their help.

  • It's ridiculous, putting someone's life in danger for the sake of some little tv show, who gives a fuck if it's 'real' enough, SHOCKINGLY in the REAL world people don't let people drive drunk. Idiots.

  • let her drive

  • they should of stoped her what would of happened if she killed a young child or pregnant women i know there tyring to get real life fotage but there is a limit as to what you can film.

  • intervention is one of the best shows mostly because its straight up and shows the real shit unlike these stupid reality shows which i don't ever watch shows like operation repo i see it this way the person would of drove the car if they were or werent there simple as that they are there to film someones life not take part in it.

  • On the surface, you would think that they should, and it certainly seems like it would be the right thing to do (the right thing to do would have been to call the cops anonymously) but what you do need to remember is that when you ask someone to put cameras in to observe their lives, they don't ask "Do you mind if we stick our noses in every damned thing that you do and interfere in every aspect of your life?"

The answer would be a resounding no...they would rarely get to the intervention part.

  • While they did allow this one to go by undeterred (and one would expect that allowing the camera crew to be in the car with her was a violation of workers comp and some union rule, so I expect they had something happening) the whole point of the show is to not only get THIS drunk driver off the road for all of the THOUSANDS or remaining days of her life, but to encourage other families to do the same for their drunk driving ignorant relatives. You cant do that without showing it happen.

  • He does talk kinda slow.... Maybe he's from Canada; eh LOL

  • If this were multiple choice

    E:

    NOT ENOUGH INFORMATION TO ANSWER.

-Where is the original clip? How dangerous would it be to stop her. He easilly would it have been to call the poice annon. How often does she do this anyhow without the film crew there. Did the film crew prevoke her into taking that extra swig (any facial expression or body language could provoke an intoxicated person).

Of course it upsets people to see that on camera & of course a documentary crew must keep it real.

  • lol it's an email and the news woman is adding in her own little emphasis to the words

  • dear Kristin,

you sound like a dumb bitch. I love how you transfer responsibility from the drunk driver to the film crew as they are somehow supposed to stop her from driving. I bet if she was blocked you would say she should sue the film crew from stopping her right to drive. because I wouldnt put it past you to be a dumb bitch both ways.

    cordially yours,

    Unbiasedperson.

  • It's reality TV. That woman would have done that whether the filmers are there or not. Their job is to film.

  • Getting in front of a car to block it with a drunk at the wheel is NOT their job, and would be stupid and dangerous to do as well. What they should have done is called the police anonomously, nothing else.

  • their job is to film, not to get involved.

  • @nogoodbastid I thought the show was called "Intervention"?

  • @rotovia the camera crew doesn't conduct the intervention, they film it. the family and one leader conduct the intervention.

  • @nogoodbastid They work for a production company with a legal liability, excluding an ethical one. When they are dealing with an addict to fail to prevent this is inexcusable.

  • @nogoodbastid - as a human being a person has a responsibility to other human beings. If you can prevent someone from doing an illegal thing you need to do it. The Intervention crew should have stopped her. Maybe it is even moral law to step in.

  • If you got 3 cameras in your face it won't be reality

  • This is redicilous. If you are going to say that is going to far then you might as well say filing someone doing an illegal substance is wrong as well. "Why wouldn't you take the crack pipe out of her mouth, you knw it is illegal".

  • and she could die from crack poisioining

  • The producers of the show are not the police. They are objective documentarians, much like what the news is suppossed to be.The same people saying more should have been done are those who can't think objectively. The must be told what they SHOULD do and they BELIEVE everyone else should, too.

The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.

  • the news woman looks like an alien! and theyre talking nonsense, they cant stop anyone driving! yeh they should have tried but at the end of the day people are only responsible for their own actions NOT other peoples!

  • Additionally, there's no cause of action in tort either, because no one was injured. It may be messed up, but our legal system is based on the idea that you can watch someone getting the piss beat out of them, do nothing, and suffer no legal consequences (although it would probably make you a scumbag).

  • Comment removed

  • in my opinion, they traded that one drunken drive for the multiple ones that would have occured if she didn't get help. Give them a break.

  • alcoholics are irresponsible b/c they're addicts.

i was irresponsible im not gonna blame someone else for filming it.

    .kandrea..

  • rolls eyes.

what are the chances of her hitting a random child if she was driving with a whole ton of camera+audio+other crew following her? Actually the whole news is ALREADY phrased in a horribly biased tone. the way they say "she takes a swig of vodka" "apparently she's already drunk" "and the producers didnt stop her" "is it irresponsible on their part? its the little words they place secretly that plays a ploy on our emotions...

    silent propoganda! :/

  • whatever, you know they were following her. besides they show alot of illegal things going on in that show and that is what makes it so compelling and real. i TIVO it every week!

  • u think its the camera crews fault that she got behind the wheel? why arent u blaming her for getting behind the wheel? think about it, if she did get in an accident and injure someone, the camera crew would be at no fault, they know the law well enough to know how to act in situations like this. know ur roll and shut ur mouth!

  • if they didnt show her driving, it wouldnt be a reality show! it's not like drunk driving doesnt exist!!! besides, i'm pretty sure they took all the precautions needed to make the show as successful as it is. if they were doing something wrong, the show would have been cancelled by now......make sense? oh and "LUCYSHY" stfu....yur probably a freakin drama queen!

  • if they didnt show her driving, it wouldnt be a reality show! it's not like drunk driving doesnt exist!!! besides, i'm pretty sure they took all the precautions needed to make the show as successful as it is. if they were doing something wrong, the show would have been cancelled by now......make sense?

  • the only true reality show out there

    and this is why

  • they did the right thing. if they were there or not she would've done it anyways. its reality and i repect that the show is keeping it real.

  • I think that the producers should have stopped her but isnt that true for everything. The people on the show are using illicit drugs, should the producer call the cops. No because then nobody would watch it. I think their should be some boundries. Again how do you know she actually drove drunk, they could have used CGI, bottom line nothing is reality on TV, American Idol, Hells Kitchen, or any other show are faked to some degree.

  • i love intervention

    its so interesting :)

  • I respect the part that the show needs to be real to people it needs to give people a reason to know why they deeply need help but letting some one drunk drive on the show is the complete opposite of what the show is supposed to do for the alchoholic

  • It's reality. But on tv it is NOT.

In real life, they watched an intoxicated person operate a vehicle when they KNEW she wasn't capable.

If she had killed a member of my family, my SON, my MOTHER, my SISTER. I wouldn't give a SHIT who thought it would make good ratings. My kin is DEAD.

    THAT, is true reality.

    Don't get it twisted.

  • fuck who ever doesnt like the show i love it couse its real it not some stupid ass show trying to say its reality when it isnt.these are peoples lives i think people should watch the show they can see if u do shit like that this is wat happens

  • I still love "Sylvia" even if she run me over

  • I saw the entire episode and I think that "Sylvia", who is the name of the mentioned lady, would have drank weather the crew was present or not. It is not their responsibility to not drive under the influence.

  • but did you see that episode? the filming while ahead of them she was swerving close to oncoming traffic? It is called "Intervention" after all, isn't it? :D But I agree they cannot tamper with the content, or it would be fake reality.

  • Do you seriously think that filming true 'reality tv' is MORE IMPORTANT that possibly saving the life of an innocent human being???

What if she murdered a child? The whole idea of the show is to show that people with addictions are incapable of making respectable choices. So Mr. Producer who is sitting there sober, then decides it's OK to allow a person known to be intoxicated - and BREAKING THE LAW- to drive?

If he filmed a pediphile raping a child would he be immune because it was 'reality'?

  • I made a music video with the woman "Sylvia" that they are talking about on my channel.

  • I agree with you...that woman was out of control and could've killed someone!
