Wow, so they are finally making these things, eh? I'll bet it was four years ago when I saw them "announced" on SOTW. I guess most of us gave up that they'd ever really show up. I'd love to hear it play. Hope they get the quirks and foibles worked out. I guess you can get 'em wet without causing much damage? Thanks so much for this sneak peak at one of these interesting horns.
i play one yesterday sounds amazing just like my yani. its very light and octive key is not a good design but it works and fun to play. £399.00 sax.co.uk
It is not correct to say it is the FIRST polycarbonate sax. I have been making open holed straight C sopranissimo saxophones since 1998. If you are interested in seeing a photo go to flickr dot com and punch in polymer sax Best regards leebm29
I sold Grafton acrylic alto saxophones in the 60s. If they had made them from polycarbonate, and continued to improves them, and rework the spring system, it could have been a top professional horn. John E Dallas the distributor went bankrupt around 1968 and the steel moulds were sold for scrap and melted down. I expect this vibrator sax will take 3 or 4 more years before they get up to a pro level polycarbonate is an excellent choice of material almost unbreakable Best regards Lee Mason
Price at the time of this video was (I believe) around $400. Not sure if that is current. As of now, I think the only way to order one is to contact them through their website.
No, I did not fix the leak. As it says in the video, I did not have time, I was not asked to, and the construction of the horn made fixing that particular problem a difficult task. Also as it says in the video, I could not play the horn well because of the leak, so I am in no position to say how it plays. The owner will be bringing the horn back sometime in the future, and once the upper stack leak is fixed I will play it and post another follow-up video with some playing.
So, were you able to fix the upper stack leak? And how does the horn feel (eg. responsiveness, resonance)? Lastly, what's the price of this wonder-horn?
Yes, the company is continuing to make improvements. I actually got an email from the president of the company recently detailing some changes they are making, and I will be posting an article update fairly soon. I am unsure as to to their plans regarding pricing, but I believe it would be a good idea for them to make it cheaper as well.
When the price drops to $ 50.00; I'll try one.

This would be a great marching band horn, rain would probably not damage it as much as it would a normal sax
