This surgery is undergone if you don't have clear vision. It helps your retina form a clearer image. Basically, it helps you see better after the surgery.
It is a corneal graft. The patient's own cornea is replaced by graft tissue from a donor. We do about one of these operations/week and they are usually very successful, with few post-op complications. A person donating their eyes after death can potentially restore sight to EIGHT different people! that's why it's worth carrying a donor card AND being on the register.
