  • As a Chinese, I personally think that Sara did a pretty good job in singing Chinese lyrics at the last part, but her English singing is barely audible

  • Full cheese mongering. Quattro Formaggi.

  • I really really love the scene when the teens are running wildly on the grassland, it really touched me.

  • the song bring tears to my eyes...

  • 周楚楚好美

  • The tune to this song is so uncannily similar to the tune in the episode of "The Encounter" in the Twilight Zone just before George Takei character jumps out of the windows. see /watch?v=WK6rDehMb9Y 11:06

  • This is one of the best Olympic songs of all time. I wish I could get it on my iPod though.

  • I wish China can accelerate its political reform, give respect to its own people, and China will be a truly respectful country. It has such a beautiful culture and so hard-working intelligent people. I truly believe in the spirit of this song. Let love shine the world.

  • travel dreams a thousand miles doesnt make sense, i think they should have changed that to something else...any suggestions....

  • @MrBigEnchilada acutally that's a loose translation. Chinese translation goes like this: We travel a thousand mile for dreams and meeting in beijing.

  • I love how Qigang Chen also writes atonal music that most people only hear in movies.

  • Liu Huan's voice is amazing C:

  • yah i wish i can go to china

  • Sarah Brightman is so annoying! Why is she singing?? was she supposded to give a global meaning to the song?! If it was for that reason, might as well be Liu Huan singing the whole music, it would be much better and nobody understands her English anyway!!

  • @PLCBZ they should have got celion dion or tan jing.

  • love how idiots use the olympic games to pursue human rights abuse and other crap which has nothing related to china hosting the olympic games

  • I used to hate myself for being black because they have so much hatred for white people.

I'm no longer ashamed of being black. I'm ashamed of being human. Stop fighting each other and just listen to the song. None of us are perfect and we should not be judged by what our ancestors have done but by what we are doing. I'm here trying to create peace. What are you doing?

  • @khaiho95

If You'd knew a little about China's history You'd know tibet EVER belonged to china -.-

And further more as a minority they have a lot of special rights which the manipulated western Media not even mentioned.

Why Don't you go blame the Americans for having rextinguished the Indian?

Or the Australians for wiping out the abouriginies? They are ALLREADY DEAD. Ignorant Idiot!

  • @Iremiah aboriginals are still alive in australia there scum everyone hates them because they dont work, they're racist rude smelly and ugly.

tibet has always belonged to china just another activist stiring shit.

  • @randomjoe333333

If you don't believe me, then go read old chinese history books

  • 25 people doesn't have a family to l<3ve.

  • @TheThongnagawa I lived in Xinyang South Hunan China in 2006 and then 2009-2010 for a year. South Hunan providance is one of the poorer places in China, how in the hell are you trying to tell me there is no proper housing or enough food. In the Great U.S.A. we have the same things as in China.

Get your facts straight boy, and quit preaching your stupid free tibit propaganda.

  • I been to china on 2008 to see the Olympic..And it's so amazing and well organize.

And later i when to other part of china and interact with people, there life is so critical, poor.no proper house to stay,No enough food for family..I feel so sad and same time i feel so shame on Beijing Olympic..Its all show up..what i saw in Beijing was all fake and its not real china..there call one one one dream..No not at all..china stop showing drama for the world.

your people are struggling.help help pls

  • @TheThongnagawa The China you saw and the olympic you saw in beijing are all real. People there in beijing did not pretend or act for the olympic.

Their feeling and happiness and the prosperousness are all real. Just there are so many parts of China. the development is not balanced. I feel sorry for the poor people too. China does should do something after the olympic and stop showing up to the world. I mean, one olympic is ok. You cannot deny that that let world know China is a good thing,

  • @TheThongnagawa hey,dun be so mean, china is still a developing country ,and its big,i am sure the govt is putting effort to help the Chinese in different region eg they are getting better welfare, sorry for my bad english,im a chinese

  • luv it... it was really emotional i think the song as a whole was just awesome

  • am i the only one who thinks sarah brightman's voice is highly annoying?

  • @sahyulee Yeah it is damn much...didn't get what she says in both languages...

  • i dont know why there are dislikes for this song..

  • Cool song!!!! You and me in chinese in Wo he ni.

  • awww... sooo beautiful!

  • Sarah Brightman, thanks so much for your natural voice for 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

  • cool

  • Like

  • So talented... T . T

  • Bless you, CHINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @celestinoenrique lo dices como si los ninios no sientan dolor ni cansancio xd

  • 夫と共にとても熱くなってテレビを観たオリンピックでした。

    是变得非常热看了电视的奥林匹克运动会。

It was the Olympics that became very hot and saw the television.

  • Beijing we are ready, beijing huan ying ni and forever friends are a lot better than this one.

  • This vid and song is typical Chinese "we are family, we are world, we are happy"... Yes, China is great and nice country, but the regime is influencing all - even this "olympic" song... My god - what does this wistful song has common with "Citius, Altius, Fortius" (Swifter, Higher, Stronger) ??

  • 悦耳的音乐。。。

    sarah brightman天籁的歌声与liu huan强而有力的歌声合在一起竟然有一种意想不到的绝配!

  • olympic games is very interesting when an asian country host it

  • Who is Liu Huan?? Is he a famous singer in China??

  • @bobolw19 yes ,very famous really

  • @bobolw19 More than that... Liu Huan is a music genius in China. Search him up.

  • this song and the video are so touching!!

yes, we are family although long forgotten.

let's wake up to the call

  • who were all the people they featured in the video? were they just random people?

  • Will be visiting the world expo this summer and traveling around China. This makes me super excited. I will be doing video diaries of the trip, so you guys who can't make it to the expo can still see it! Subscribe so that you can be aware of when I put them up.

  • nice song!

  • a good song

  • Actually, a lot of people in China wanted other songs to be chosen as the song played after events.

At least 80% of the people I spoke with.

They said it was too mellow.

I have to agree, "Beijing Welcomes You" and "Forever Friends" are better, in my and many others' opinion.

  • Wow, I can actually read every Chinese character... Love this song.

  • well no one knows what there saying only chines know they should make english version

  • @librazone i agree to that... its the same thing with indian songs...the ones that get internationally famous arent usually the best.

  • I agree - too much of what we hear is what the marketers think we should listen to, and if all that's heard, then of course it will be popular. This is a very moving work, and I've listened to it many times....always with a good feeling and fond memories of the Beijing Olympics.

  • I feel like crying, cause me and my dad listened to this song while watching the olympics together...

  • Winter games 2010..GO CANADA

  • so beautiful. im soo happy i get to sing this song a concert. im chinese so hopefully itll be easier

  • Gives me chills everytime I watch it. :)

  • yeah, Sara Brightman looks quite scary.

  • @ ilvtofku I meant it gave me happy chills. Like it was so beautiful. Not Scary chills. And Sara Brightman is awsome by they way.

  • Is there an english version of this song?

    I miss Olympics.. huhuhu

    coco from Philippines

  • Wait a few weeks - the Winter Olympics are coming !

  • yupyup.. winter olympics.

  • @jangeks The English lyrics are a translation of the Chinese lyrics

  • yup. what I mean is that where can I find the English version of this song.

  • 中国人真热情, 给我充满了亲切感。 ^_^

  • Im Chinese but honestly this song makes me cry more than happiness, in my opinion it could be a song plays at the ending ceremony, but not as a theme song whereas happy theme should be~ just my opinion

  • you can cry and still be happy o.o just cause you're crying doesn't mean you're exactly sad :)

  • King08KOKO,

You may be right, but I think they used it to set the mood and spirit for the games - family, unity, togetherness........for me, that's what the Beijing games meant, and I'll always remember them...

  • I think this song should be played for a sad occasion..

  • Comment removed

  • T.T

  • the translation isnt direct in the english version. were learning this song in chinese class. beautiful work:)

  • Good Songs in the world.

  • I love that song!!!!

  • such a beautiful song idk what hes saying but the guys voice is so pretty lol

  • the girl in the second half of the song sings the english translation.

  • yes, he is a very popular singer in china for a long time, unique voice

  • @daprinceofblndez Me and you Heart connected to heart Living together in the world village For our dreams Traveling a thousand miles Meeting in Beijing Come, friend Reach out your hand Me and you Heart connected to heart Always one family
  • i was at the olympics in beijing... and this song makes me cry almost everytime... all the memories come flooding back... God Bless Beijing!

  • I'll bet you will remember it for the rest of your life - I watched from home and still have many, many great memories. I don't know if it will ever be equalled. Everythin I saw and heard showed how warm and friendly the people were - true olympic spirit.......

  • yeah, it really was... i felt so priviliged to be apart of probably the best olympics there will ever be for awhile... i live in London now and its just going to be a nightmare here!! but yeah, met so many wonderfull people and just generally had the time of my life... this song just strikes a nerve with me... the memories are priceless, I honestly cant put it into words what the whole experiance was like.. was just, yeah... something else, something that London will not be able to recreate

  • Politics and Sport should never be mixed!! yes tibet is a problem, but while i was there... it wasnt something i had in mind!

  • Absolutely - then there is also the most destructive force to all sports....money. Sport should be pure.

  • wow, the best song

  • i was at the beijing olympic games and can't help but get rather emotional when i hear this. really brings back memories of a truly gargantuan and unforgettable event.

after the closing ceremony, chinese tv cut to a black screen for a couple of moments and then put on this song. everybody was humming it all night.

  • can i downlod this off i tunes? if so were can i find it?

  • wassup wit everyone now?

how come aint nobody like this song?

    lol

  • China's not really all that communist if you pay attention to it. >.> Don't always rely on what people say and actually either research it or visit it like I did. The only think that might be related to communism that I saw was that they didn't take tips at restaurants. Everything else was fine.

BTW, this song is great. Really touching and relieving.

  • The originally chosen theme song was

    "Embrace the Dream of Love"

    instead of "You and me".

"Embrace the Dream of Love" is much better but so sad that it is not used finally because of the copyright issue.

  • such a beautiful song makes me cry

  • everytime I hear this song, I tear up. It's a wonderful peaceful song.

  • went to see the olympics last year...it was awesome, didnt expect china to do such a great job.

i know china is still not that open compare to the other first world country, but that doesnt mean we should be bitching about how bad and backwards on democracy china is, and ignoring the efforts the chinese had put together to make this olympics so successful ever.

  • china really worked hard to make the Olympics and you should excpect that much from them besides.. china is a beautiful country.

  • @peachypity the beijing olympics outdid all others. the performances were spectacular. I LOVE CHINA! <3. I came from china, so I rooted for them all the way...

  • @peguinppls9899 coool... i went to see em. my family lives ther soo ya

  • @peachypity i agree and i am chinese i am proud .....

  • @peachypity thank you so much my friend, best wishes for you and you prosperous country

  • Can Sarah Brightman really sing Chinese Mandarin? is her her actual voice in Chinese part?

  • 她会唱歌只一点点。不过,我怀疑如果她会说汉语。 她有了一些中文课,但是她是英国人,和我们的汉语不是好啊。

  • Yeah. They make her do that

  • Li Huan has so much emotion in his voice~

  • It's so beautiful... and the message it conveys... is really wonderful....

  • man, i think the beijing olympic openin was the best one yet...i wonder how london's is gonna be...hm...theyre gonna suck compared! haha, j.k...im waitin!

  • ho the hell can london match the 2008 games or for that matter anyone match them

  • I cried listening to the song. Really touching,

  • Very moving song. Liu Huan sings very well. And I like Sarah Brightman too.

  • O_o it sounded more like 'HAAAAHUUUUHAAAAAAHUUUUUH' than Come together... But don't get me wrong, I love Sarah Brightman =D

  • lol same here. about the haahuaahaa stuff, yeah :)

  • ahahaha! yeah

  • yea i love her too~

but it's kinda funny how her chinese singing was clearer than the english part lol

  • I love this song.

  • once we build a wall to keep anyone out off our so called middle kingdom, and once you break into our land by the power of fire.

we have conflict before, but now, we have changed and you have changed, we are walking towards the same destination, indeed.

  • the max's socialism society theory and America's market oriented capitalism economic system have already been both absorbed into our civilization, and I believe china will also absorb the democracy spirit as well in the future. maybe china will still get a little bit imperialism's influence according to our ancient tradition, just like UK, they still keep their queen

after all, i think all of those things and theories can work well with each other in our civilization. history has proved it.

  • indeed, china is a very friendly country, if anyone has been to china you would know that.

there is absolutely no racism in china, without the english language we even would not have known such a thing called racism.

because there is no such a term in chinese language and our thousands of years history.

the chinese civilization will absorb everything come from outside world and make it our own instead of conflict with it.

  • Also for the people who are ranting against the chinese goverment and criticizing the chinese people, you obviously are misinformed. The chinese government does its best to take care of its people. With 1.4 billion people to support i believe they are doing an outstanding job. Also i don't see the chinese government invading other countries saying that invading you will make my country safer. This song is to unite the world. Which it has during the Olympics but the world should be always united.

  • Oh dear, every time I listen to this song, I can't help but tear up, it's so beautiful.

  • wo he ni!!!!!!!! i love this song!!!!! my chinese class will perform it like this week!!!!

  • Liu Huan has such a good voicee :) Love it

  • Sarah Brightman sings so HIGH! WOAHH!

  • Yay blind mag!

  • Sarah Brightman sings SOO HIGH!!! Omg at the opening ceramnony...

  • shes great,

but the announcers said she was lip syncing during the ceremony.

  • O wow O.o that probably explains it

  • Whatever people say about China, I think it was certainly the best Olympics I've seen, in terms of organization, the ceremonies and decorations - great times and good work by the Chinese.

  • i completely agree-- the effort that was put into the whole thing was incredible, they went all out :-) they have great pride for thier country, and no matter what label others gave them, that's not gonna change :-)

  • yeah man, i mean no matter what the hype becomes or new technologies, I don't think anyone else will ever be able to match that extreme organization and coordination of movements and such that the Chinese were able to do in the ceremonies numerous times. That's a gold-medal event all the way.

  • the lyrics make sense...:D..the world is like a family

  • Great song

    Great Olympics

    Great Beijing

  • our chinese teacher played this song at least 50 times, so that we were forced to like it :P

    Great song ;D

  • tibet is my brothers name.

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks China for the great and fantastic dream, Beijing 2008 =P

  • Fuck no.

  • yes...

  • Once again, I think this bares repeating, no.

  • it's free to share in the economic development of china.

  • this comment is toward zingostar, the people of tibet are happy. They are as free as any state in the us. The chinese goverment supports their goverment and their people. The only reason many people like you think this way is due to propaganda from the Dahlia lama. He was exiled for a reason going against the state. I mean you wouldn't want a state to just randomly declare independence would you? But anywayz enjoy the song, maybe you will learn something from it.

  • Wow, I do not know where r u from, maybe from China, I am chinese.

But I can tell there is lots shit things happened in China towards the term "Government", it is not like what u said. China has long way to go like what u said

  • @manglai I'm not sure who you're replying to.

I also happen to be Chinese.

If you are proud of your heritage like you should be, then I applaud you.

If you are a blood traitor who would rather listen to stereotypes and twisted societal thinking, then, well, my description speaks for itself.

  • @GoYahooFuckGoogle YES, YES YES!! THANK YOU!!! The Dahli lama is as good at brainwashing people as Hitler. I don't see any reason why the majority of a population who once were oppressed slaves shouldn't be happy when the Chinese liberated them. Too bad all the corrupt officials are going international instead of all the actual Tibetans.

  • Sarah Brightman's voice is really really scary

no efence to the people that like her...

  • I loooooooooooooove Opera and Broadways. This song is great. <3

    <3 Sarah Brightman!

  • beijing was the best olympics if ever seen...

Im going to the 2016 olympics for taekwondo and my friend is going for 2012 olympics...

but its not going to be nearly as good as bejing

  • really? im planning to paticapate at he 2016 summer olympics

  • Wow nice plans for the coming years :-)

  • XD they make my dreams seem small

  • Love this song! Love the video as well! Great propaganda!

  • Sound like your egos failed :) LAWL
