@vaghoust 2X was first dual-core phone , even if it was not using tegra 2 it would have been buggy , let's be honest 2X is faster than S2 and Sensation in games , i think thats pretty good for the first dual-core phone...
@TheGrandTheftshit my friend lets be honest,you like gta and it took months since gta and many other good games to be ported on tegra 2 500 eurow are not only for 5 tegra games and I can barely use my default browser while gs2 plays smooth 1080p youtube and the heaviest sites with a UI that has no lagg on animated wallpapers and is way more stable than any tegra device I have seen,even more than this one.
@vaghoust My 2X dose exactlly the same and some even better since it finally got gingerbread , in games totally owns your S2 (no offence) , 2X is still among best phones on the market admit it. Im not saying there aren't better phones but 2X is just a very good phone...

This is something I have always been wondering, can you connect an external HDD to an android tablet and then view the photos/videos on the HDD through the tablet?
@JakeAndrewBullard And I'm telling you you're wrong. The XBOX 360 wireless controller doesn't work in this tablet in any form so far (maybe asus will offer support for PC Windows USB transceiver in future, but for now, no). Most other wired controllers just work out of the box as long you have a USB to Mini-USB cable or converter and even some more advanced Bluetooth wireless controllers work too, like the PS3 Sixaxis. None of them require the keyboard attachment to work.
@SuperConormcg You do not need to buy the 'pc xbox controller', many of the videos show them using a wireless or a wired Logitech controller with the Transformer AND this device supports quite a few different controllers INCLUDING a bluetooth PS3 Sixaxis. Call me names mate but you're the real moron here. You don't even know enough to be a danger to yourself.
Now that the hardware is there, we just need to wait for the games to NOT SUCK. All the mobile games look nice, but have absolutely terrible gameplay. You might say "wait, shadowgun was awesome!". But imagine if that game were released instead of gears of war on the 360. It would have bombed hard, because the gameplay is awful and repetitive. Now that we have console quality graphics, we should be getting console quality gaming, not cheap rip-offs...

I was looking for this for months, but now I'm almost sure I won't buy this crap - at first I learned it wouldn't come out with the ICS (update is planned for "near" future, so ...), then I learned it had only one USB on the dock and no 3G. Then the constant postponing of the release date (I still don't know when or if it comes to my area), rumors about the problems with the WiFi and GPS and the performance issues while browsing. And the last drop - the bootloader is encrypted:( Screw it.
@wladius The official date for 4.0 update is the 12th of January so it's not too far away. They are allowing an unlock for the encrypted boot loader for those who wish to load custom ROM's but it will void your warranty. Performance issues with browsing will still lie in the fact that 3.2 Honeycomb browser is still only optimized for 2 cores. Once the ICS update hits it on the 12th I would expect improvements all around. That's when I feel people should make their final judgments.

@kissmyass007 i think it uses bluetooth, so there's no need for any adaptors... i don't know for this particular logitech controller, but the PS3/Wii controller uses it so it just sync over the bluetooth connection

Just AWESOME!!!! The mere fact that it will be the first of its kind there will be more support for it then any other potential quadcores down the pipeline. That also includes MORE SOFTWARE as well;o)
The gaming performance looks great, I may have to to save up for one in the next year or so. The keyboard and design is a major selling point, you can tell they really crafted It with the intent to differenciate themselves from other tablets that are currently around and ones that will come.
I wish it shipped ICS, not that I can't wait for the update, but retards using that as an argument to that this is slower and crappy. ICS will make this a lot smoother and faster.

Yes, there are a few dozen games that look noticeably better than anything on the iPad, but the iPad does still have the better selection of games. I think this is likely to change over the next year with the release of ICS though.
And despite what fanboys will claim, games is really the only area where Market lags iTunes. Every app on my ipad has an app on my Galaxy Tab, or another that does the same thing.

@GetPatriotized No, actually it's not. Most benchmarks were in favor of the prime. iPad 2 just had better fps in some games. If you've ever played pc games, lower resolutions always get faster frames... and the iPad 2 is not even an hd screen... so of course it's going to get higher frames per sec than the same game run on at an hd resolution.
What's more important is that the games being made specifically for Tegra 3 have graphics effects that simply cannot be done on an iPad 2.
@GetPatriotized Umm, actually the difference is not that small. I definitely agree that I'd like to see apps and games optimized for quad core performance... but since quad core tablets technically don't exist yet, it'll take a couple of mths.
We've moved from dual core processing to quad core... the A5 has BEEN leapfrogged! Lol. In terms of performance, the A5 was already being outmatched by the Tegra 2 in gaming. So as far as chips go... yea, this is a pretty big deal. Cool if not for u tho.
Dont forget emulators ranging from Atari over SNES and Geseis up to PS1 and N64, of course all playable with real gamepad input. I'm soo gonna play ocarina of time on this thing :))
This emphasis on gaming will probably keep the resolution of Tegra3 tablets down, so that the graphics chip can actually render in time. For those of us interested in tablets primarily for reading, this will point toward the Retina display iPad 3. :(
@tofucyborg Actually the Tegra 3 chip can render 2048x1536 fluidly already... whereas retina display on an ipad size screen simply doesn't exist ;-). If anything, the problem is that Tegra 3 is not likely to be the flagship chip this time... Samsung has similar tech in the works for an ultrahd tablet display, hopefully matched w/ their superAmoled screens. Either way, it's being done first and being done better on Android.

The gaming performance looks great, I may have to to save up for one in the next year or so. The keyboard and design is a major selling point, you can tell they really crafted It with the intent to differenciate themselves from other tablets that are currently around and ones that will come.

i hear ipad 2 has a dual core 800mhz processor, how does that beat a 1300mhz quad core processor plus one companion core at 500mhz. how can ipad 2 beat that? some games may look better, but thats probably because its easier to create good looking games for ipad 2 as the developer does not need to worry about compatibility with different models as there is just one ipad 2, but tons of android tablets

Yes, there are a few dozen games that look noticeably better than anything on the iPad, but the iPad does still have the better selection of games. I think this is likely to change over the next year with the release of ICS though.
And despite what fanboys will claim, games is really the only area where Market lags iTunes. Every app on my ipad has an app on my Galaxy Tab, or another that does the same thing.

@GetPatriotized No, actually it's not. Most benchmarks were in favor of the prime. iPad 2 just had better fps in some games. If you've ever played pc games, lower resolutions always get faster frames... and the iPad 2 is not even an hd screen... so of course it's going to get higher frames per sec than the same game run on at an hd resolution.
What's more important is that the games being made specifically for Tegra 3 have graphics effects that simply cannot be done on an iPad 2.

@GetPatriotized Umm, actually the difference is not that small. I definitely agree that I'd like to see apps and games optimized for quad core performance... but since quad core tablets technically don't exist yet, it'll take a couple of mths.
We've moved from dual core processing to quad core... the A5 has BEEN leapfrogged! Lol. In terms of performance, the A5 was already being outmatched by the Tegra 2 in gaming. So as far as chips go... yea, this is a pretty big deal. Cool if not for u tho.

This emphasis on gaming will probably keep the resolution of Tegra3 tablets down, so that the graphics chip can actually render in time. For those of us interested in tablets primarily for reading, this will point toward the Retina display iPad 3. :(

@tofucyborg Actually the Tegra 3 chip can render 2048x1536 fluidly already... whereas retina display on an ipad size screen simply doesn't exist ;-). If anything, the problem is that Tegra 3 is not likely to be the flagship chip this time... Samsung has similar tech in the works for an ultrahd tablet display, hopefully matched w/ their superAmoled screens. Either way, it's being done first and being done better on Android.
