  • Hahaha did you hear her? they are not BLACK..

  • Haha! its really funny! but 'zwarte pieten' Are supposed to be black.. Not racist or anything, Its just that translated it means black pete's.

  • at least Michigan folks are keeping it real! no santa clause! het ther real SINTERKLAAS!!

  • WHAHHA GENIOUS XD. sinterklaas in U.S XD

  • VEry sweet to see the kids sing in dutch with their american accents. And it must be nice for the people of dutch decent to do this

Very nice that Sinterklaas (Sint Nicolaas) is also beeing celebrated in the USA! Recently I brought some 'kruidnootjes' and 'pepernoten'(peppernuts) to our friends in California, and they said the whole history of Sinterklaas is a very nice one. Wouldn't it be nice if in CA they wold start to celebarte it too. Btw: did you know that the figure Santa Clause was actually based upon Sint Nicolaas? And that Sint Nicolaas really existed?

  • Very strange to hear Sinterklaas speak English. ;P

  • I love it! Sinterklaas in the USA! Hahaha :)

But why are the Pete’s white? They should be black from the soot of the chimney. (Nothing to do with discrimination)

  • @ronaldvandijk100 What are you talking about? Paris? I'd appreciate it if you didn't use bad language! Thanks

  • just a reminder i grew up in holland my whole first 17 years of life and i never heard or seen this stupid shit....... i guess thats what happens when your brown in holland!

  • @b18matt

We'll, then you have been about the only one that did not celebrate Sinterklaas. Because when I go to a so called 'home of Sinterklaas', here in the Netherlands, I see all kinds of kids, white, brown, black, christian and muslim, Dutch and foreign. And they all like it! Because 'Sinterklaas' is a nice tradition for all kids (and their parents btw)

  • @Change6609 holland michigan stupid fuck

  • HAHAHAHAHA .... funny ! .. but what a fake sinterklaas .

  • Ooh! How nice :) en how cool the kids can sing in Dutch :)

I'm telling you, Santa Claus is a cheap rip-off of Sinterklaas. Even his name 'Santa Claus' comes from 'Sinter Klaas'! God bless the good people in Holland MI who make this happen!

  • lol someone needs a gps and a book on how to speak english in their shoe

  • Dank je sinterklaasje.

  • do people in holland speak dutch?

  • @Weezing77

Well yes, the People in Holland AKA the Netherlands speak Dutch. In Holland MI, there are also still some people who speak Dutch.

  • @Weezing77 no mostly spanish... most of the population in holland are mexican

  • @b18matt Okay, that's not true. I know only one person who can speak spanisch. There're no Mexicans in Holland.

  • Sinterklaas kampoentje throw something in my schoentje and in my laarsje thank you sinterklaasje ;-)

  • @EXMONL

    Roflwhat? :D

  • where are the black pete's? :P (zwarte pieten)

  • and also

    john reynolds amsterdam

  • Cool to see how well you ve kept my favourite childhood celebration and you guys can still speak Dutch so well too!

look at the link here a friend of mine near Boston who had ancestors here in Leiden has put the old music in a more modern style, i think you may like it!

Sinterklaas! "Sint Niklaasje!" NEW SINT CD!

  • just another stupid thing white ppl do in holland!

  • @eg8matt I agree

  • Without Sinterklaas (Santa Claus) you wouldnt have christmas ;).

This is a dutch tradition it's great to see those kids actually sing it in dutch! The helpers of Sinterklaas in Holland are black, because they go down chimneys ;) they are not black b

  • this ia awesome! sinterklaas kapoentje! hahahaa! this is a dutch tradition. you can say this is the biggest dutch tradition!

    Dutchman rule!

  • o.o this is nice to see :) are those people of dutch decent?

  • Yes they are. most Americans of Holland Michigan is of Dutch decent.

  • De kerst liejes, are ridiculous!

  • couldn't agree more with you. there idea sucks totaly.

  • The best Americans are from Dutch decent

  • @Ricardothe1337

    Truth \m/

  • sorry , but I don't care about being potitically correct! I was born in Holland and zwarte piet is zwarte which means Black no matter how you put it!!! Zwarte and I mean Zwarte ! Please! sing it in dutch since when did he (sinterklaas speaks english if he did it would be spanish he came from spain!

  • that is why sinterklaas has notting to do there im also sick of it that hey always confuse it with christmas and they are to stupid to see the difference between a hanging santa hat and a bishops mitre

  • Black Pete is black from the ashes in the chimney. He come thru the chimney to bring gifts. This comes from ancient germanic folklore about odin and the wildhunt.

Saint Nicolas was a bishop in Myra Turkey

  • So cool!! Sinterklaas has made the jump across the puddle. but I agree. Zwarte Piet should be black. :)

  • its not allowed there.. that is why saint nick has notting to do there.

  • Why is it not allowed? thats just weird. Its not even remotely racist and black people here certainly don't have problems with it. Zwarte piet is just as imtortant as sinterklaas himself. They are his helpers, so they HELP him. Its not that they are his workers. I think if you explain the cultural story from here to people in the US, they'd understand.Good though to see Sinterklaas is making more kids around the world hapy :)

  • well, its old news. americans are offended about black face

  • you know that yeah, but they dont. just type in the searchbar iminshock and look to his video

  • They can party what they want in the USA, but the Dutch Sinterklaas rules! And why is Zwarte Piet white? I think Americans haven't realy understand the role of Zwarte Piet.....

  • Born in the USA

Canada and America rules!!

  • what the song they all sang in town before Sinterklaas?

  • Lol, can you tel me what song the children are singing( it sounds dutch) and how did they practise it (got help??)

  • The song is called 'Sinterklaas kapoentje'. The lyrics is in Dutch:

    Sinterklaas kapoentje,

    gooi wat in mijn schoentje,

    gooi wat in mijn laarsje,

    dank u, Sinterklaasje....

  • Where are the zwarte pieten ;(

  • 0:57

  • Hoewel, erg zwart zijn ze niet.

  • haahahah, jajajjaajaj

  • Yeay, Sinterklaas goes USA

    But the Pieten are white!

    They should be black

I know of al the talk about racism, but it's tradition and history that the Pieten are black

  • they don't have zwarte pieten :P

  • Santa Claus is fake, this is the real deal. Sinter Klaas!

  • hahaha awesome comment!

  • wow i live in holland, mi and ive never even heard of this...what year is this?

  • this was dec. 7th 2007!

  • @MsZindle

omg why are the zwartepieten white?,and for the people who think i am a racist, its not racisme its a tradition.. and does the woman on 1.03 says "pepernoten?" sounds verry strange when someone with an american accent does say that haha.

  • @EerselZuid the Pieten arn't black because that wouldn't be PC (politically corretct) I know, but try to explain that to an American! And it was me that said "pepernoten?" and I am Dutch, but Ihad been in Michigan for a couple of months by then, so maybe I had a bit of an accent, I don't know. But anyway they didn't have pepernoten, they had suckers! Good thing I could buy pepernoten at the Dutch Store in Grand Rapids!

  • Loooll... Man, I live in Colorado, they don't have any of this here. Anyways, merry christmas everyone !

  • Zalig kerstmis . Merry christmas.

  • geweldig! Hij moet die eikel kerstman vermoorden!

  • ya english santa claus is derived from dutch sinter klaas...

  • ...Waaaaaat? XD Doen ze dit serieus in Amerika? :'D Haha nooit geweten.

  • hahaha grappig :)

  • Haha:P lol, probably a lot of extra hits today;) anyway, great vid:D

Fun fact: did you know Santa Claus was derived from Sinterklaas?

  • Iam dutch and iam going to see our cousins next year. cool man sinterklaas and zwarte piet rule!!!

  • hahahahaha what ? no black face ?

  • There not callt black faces there callt: zwarte pieten(black piets)

  • jaaa! where the hella are the zwart pieten?! greetings from zuid afrika! damm the dutch are everywhere i guess!

  • Haha,i dunno where they are. But it is the US, so 'black pete's' would be discrimination :O. And yes, the Dutch are everywhere!!! :D

  • Well, the tradition is that the Pete's are black. They are black because of the soot from the chimney. I don't see how that's racist.

  • Yeh, why dont u Afrikaners has Sinterklaas? I know in Afrikaans this means Santa Claus but still

  • nooo we doo! LOL! the whole country not just afrikaners.

  • YEA

  • This is funny to see. It seems like they also mixed some things in from St. Martin's day, which is celebrated on November 11th, just before the arrival of St. Nicolas(Sinterklaas)in The Netherlands.

  • I didn't know Sinterklaas was also celebrated in the US! Very good to see. i don't know why the Dutch people below got minuses just because they wanted to see Black Peters.

Here in Holland we had a huge discussion, even politics were involved to 'prohibit' Black Peters. But we have a very multi-cultural community here, even the Suriname people said the Black Peters should stay tradition. There is no racist intention at all! Just tradition.

  • In addition to my previous comment: If the Dutch made some bad mis-steps in the past we should remember them. (which we sure did, for example: Apartheid is also a Dutch word, and I'm not proud of it)

For example: We still celebrate and commemorate the ending of the Second World War, together with Germans, in order to remind us we should never allow that to happen again.

Now Black Peters are just as important as Sinterklaas, no longer his slaves. We should keep them to remind us of our mistakes.

  • LOL! It's very nice to see that our dutch tradition is also celebrated in Michigan.

But I do miss the 'zwarte piet', the black help of Sinterklaas...

  • Why are the zwarte pieten white? They are supposed to be black! But very nice to see that our tradtion is followed in the USA!

  • that's so funny! I didn't know it was celebrated in the US too. But zwarte piet is supposed to be black!

  • lol, sinterklaas in the USA, i never would've expected that lol, but great video, but is that sinterklaas dutch or american with dutch past or something?, and why are the pieten white? lol xD, thx 4 the video ;)

  • Yeah I talked to the Sinterklaas and He was Dutch and but he lived in Holland Michigan.

  • Great! And he's came by boat from Spain :)

  • Black pete/zwarte piet should be black not white :<

  • revelation 13:9-10 for you goddamn stink crackers!!!! you just wait n see

  • Hello and thank you for sharing this video. My father is the Sinterklaas. What fun to see this!

  • You're welcome,

It was fun to the see this Dutch tradition in Michigan. I talked to the Sinterklaas that night before he went on the stage.

  • Your father talk very good dutch! Very nice to watch! 5 december again?

  • Shut up, Sinterklaas is real!!!!

  • That is awesome!! He did a wonderful job!! :) And it is really nice to see this!

It was weird for me to see the combo of a Sinterklaas parade and an American police car. haha... !! Keep it up you guys!!

So the kids that were singing - do they speak Dutch as well? :)

  • Those zwarte pieten stink!
