I enjoy this scene, as the frame draws toward him, is altered/altering when he is giving his titles. I'm a bit curious why the director/DP/cinematographer made this choice and what they were trying to say.
Technically, he's the The Earl of Croy, Marquess of Needham and Dolby, then the Lord Marbury. He's addressed as the Lord Marbury throughout the series when infact he should be addressed or referred to as the Earl or Lord Croy.
@McFrosty2014 A Marquessate is a higher peerage than an Earldom, so he would be addressed as Marquess, not Earl (still "Lord X" informally), although there is only one Marquess in the UK who is not also a Duke.
@EdFreshwater Lagavulin is from Islay "ayee-lah" and he is the ambassador of the UK not just England which does not including among other places, Northern Ireland, where the said "killings" actually took place. A contradiction in terms.

By some arguments, supporters of American independence used terrorist methods during the War of American Independence. Were we to repudiate all who have ever engaged in violence in politics, there would be few political bodies or organizations left for us to associate with. If the United States and Britain were to cease association with all groups which have engaged in unlawful, unjust violence, they would be in an odd situation, being unable to associate with each other or indeed themselves.

@jeretang Exactly right - yet another needless error from this brilliant show.
Honestly, they could just ask a British person to advise them...

The only bit of research TWW slipped up on was the pronunciation of "Islay" single malt.

@youtubularbell2 He wouldn't refer to himself as the UK's Ambassador either, it'd be Her Majesty's Ambassador.

@EdFreshwater False. They also messed up the order of precedence of his peerages. A marquessate outranks an earldom and would be mentioned first.

So... people who use car bombs to kill British soldiers are "not exactly" terrorists? Heck, I love Ireland, but man!

@Agneshka what part is upsetting to you?...the kill.. british or them being soldiers?
or maybe the car bomb part? .....if enough people announce that oranges are really purple in color then the rest will follow....are you a follower?

Shouldn't he have said Marquess of Neeham and Dolby first since that's the highest title listed?

And Islay is pronounced AI-LUH (or I-LEH in gaelic)

@PaideiaDK I noticed that too. Alas, when I'm shopping for whiskys I have to pronounce it i-lay for the clerks. :<
