  • Looking forwards to seeing you at the Chesterfield Folk Club in April 2012

  • hi guys, Martin Simpson's album " Special Agent " is a classic. I have the record but its a little scratched and i wondering where could i get another copy of it or his version of " Desporado " from that album. I would be grateful for your help or sugestions.

  • Just shows you what you can do if you chill out and let the playing coming through without trying to be too technical or fast. Beautiful playing.

  • Holy FUCK :D

  • Many years since I saw him live but he has always impressed me greatly, and that guitar sound is something else.

  • Amazing!!! What a technical expression and the feeling.... awesome

  • Many guitarists' are virtuosos for the sake of showing off - but this guy uses his virtuosity for all the right reasons.

  • @Astrodan2600 to me he will always be just young simpson from the year below me at a grammar school in Scunthorpe.

  • You are a Master! It shocks me! Beautiful.

Thank you for being such a great artist.

  • absolutely breath taking! what a phenominal artist! awesome!

  • Cool...I have not seen that sequence in a while.

The entire concert is really good.

As are all the Freight and Salvage shows from SGGWS

Simpson, Pat Donohue's is awesome, J Renbourn, Brozman.....they are all worth multiple views.'

And MArtin's 3 part DVD tutorial from Homespun is spectacular....I especially learned a lot from Santa Cruz, Long Steel Rail, CooCoo Bird, and the ballad medleys...as he plays here for the show opener.

I think MS is a true genius of understatement.

  • Seeing is believing! Thanks to Fendermac leaving a trail of breadcrumbs here, I've now experienced Martin Simpson's virtuosity. It doesn't seem possible to produce the layers and variety of sounds and tempos with a solo guitar, no edits! Dazzling. ~A new Florida Fan

  • Fantastic, great tune by a wonderful player ... thanks fendermarc for the share! :=))

  • either that or he

     knows nothing

  • Ah, my dear gnomebottom, do I detect a troll sense of humour?

  • Does anyone know what tuning this is in?

  • CGDGCD from low to high.

  • Thankyou please :) I've always liked the first part of this tune.

  • D A D G B e

  • Nope, blackbooks was right

  • I play it on D A D G B e, and the positions he uses ae the same

  • It is definitely played in CGDGCD, maybe some of the positions are the same but it is not exactly the same by any means

  • Well, it is almost, except for the IIIrd IVth, one tone under, so the positions are almost the same

  • Xerxes4242 hath spoken.

  • It's amazing how poorly some people play, shame really, ruins an otherwise nice tune...

  • Just kidding!

  • Take THAT, Yngwie Malmstein.

  • amazing musician

  • Hi martin, remember Windermere, check me out MICK.

  • would love to have seen this piece on stage

  • good version of this medley. Some nice notes hit.

  • Every time I hear or see Martin Simpson play guitar my jaw gets a little closer to the ground. Class with a capital A+

    Thanks for the clip

  • hope you make it back to the states

  • this looks familiar :)

  • we miss you martin - had fun during the santa cruz period - miss that sound

  • Wonderful.
