Well, basque fishermans used to fish in the north of europe, so they had a huge contacy with english , irish ,bretonese, icelandic, and terranovense peoples. Dont tray to find an milenary origin. These music strated on the XVI century
Fantastic! Great!. Marvellous! Unique! By the way of music I want to show you what musicians of Brazil and Argentina are doing in folklore music with a accordion. If you want, please search for these 4 videos, really interesting and special and awesome:

No, this is basque language, comes from Maghreb, it's a kind of an arabized berber language imported during the invasion of Rome by Hannibal. It's been spoken in Southern Europe, not too far from Africa.r
This wonderful young lady is Julie Mary who plays with the group Kokin - see them on MySpace. She plays each year with Agnès Perez, a wonderful danse teacher who specialises in the Fandango, at the Grand Bal d'leurope. Search youtube for Agnes Perez and the one hit will show Kokin playing with Julie playing a wind instrument!

You know that singer on American Idol named David Archuleta? His father is Basque. He is on youtube, type in David Archuleta. He is very popular in the states. Nevada and Utah have a large Basque population.
I heard that the origin of the Basque are from the Abkhazians but i don't know how much true it is. However the Basque language is different from any language that you can find in Europe and they do have that ''circle'' when they dance(if i remember right). anyway i don't know about the music i'm adigian not Abkhazians, and i don't know any Circassians music that sound like that.
I'm a Kabardian Adige. I have some research on Basque roots. I think it's proved that Abkhazians and Basques are relatives. Music and dance figures may some varieties. But language family and roots are same.
Also we know that Abkhazians and Adiga people are relative too. So very welcome Basque people.
Thanks Kchallenge for that info - a very interesting lead for my own research into indegenous Europeans. I think there is also a link with the Saami people too, just looking at pics of the Kabardians, and yes they do resemble Basques. The Welsh here in Britain are possibly decendents of these ancient pre-Indo European tribes (they were the ice age hunters of Eurasia often refferred to as 'Cro-Magnon)along with some tribes among Native Americans (Clovis culture)
Lovely accordian ! Ballet as we know it came originally from the Basque people and was a dance that men did. It was copied by the french who than incorporated it for females to dance and than the Russians made it famous. So you are a unique country!
Lovely music, lovely performance! Can someone let a message here who this lady is or how I could find more of her on CD or DVD or whatever. Thanks.
(please no chauvinistic remarks or wiseguy remarks like the Trikitixa misplaced information: just say that an accordeon in Basque language is trikitixa, in Dutch language is trekzak, and in a lot of countries is comparable in functioning but different in name, that's all)
