my male BT is over a year old now and still has accidents in the house, I have no idea why, we ALWAYS take him out but it's like if he even has a little urine in his bladder he has to release it, not wait to be taken out, he does not go to the door to go out, we just know to take him out often. I have no idea why, I grew up with a BT who is now 13years old and she never had a accident in the house and ALWAYS went to the door and if noone noticed she would whine. idk what his issue is :(

It is tough because he has marked all over the house and will return to the same spots. I use a crate with a partition to train mine. They only have enough room to turn around and sleep. I would use the crate at night and when not home but didn't need it after a year. I also only let him in the kitchen with a gate. That way it is linoleum and easy to clean. He's marking and you need to remove the urine with a kit with a black light. There are some products that remove the urine. Goodluck!

Along with everyone else is saying I am adding some advice onto the marking thing. He is marking the house since he smells urine he thinks it is okay to do it. So you are going to really have to steam clean your carpets and furniture. If you have hardwood wash it thoroughly Then take him out every 3 hours. You are going to have to start from scratch. I had a problem not with my bostie but my doxie We had to do that with him too. It worked and he is now using the restroom properly Good luck =)

I love the boston terrier breed, however I have a very hard time with mine. He was potty trained then he started to poop everywhere in my house as if he was never potty trained. He is extremely hyper too and tears my walls up. I have had a BT before and never had problems w/him like I do with this one. I am getting tired of him. I hate to have to get rid of him because he is costing me so much money in training classes and in damages to my house.

I haven't had all those problems but I agree Boston terriers are hard to house break. I had 3 male Boston terriers and all of them seemed to of known they weren't suppose to pee and poop in the house. I would watch them do it and they would look back at me and see if I was watching. They are a stubborn breed but a well mannered dog. If there was a way i knew to house break them I'd might get another one but I'm just stumped and I have no more patients left for pee and poop carpet messes

I agree with you, I love dogs but there are only so many messes I can keep up with... Its ruining my family to be quite honest. Everybody here gets so angry because he has gone on the beds to poop. That is just plain wrong.

suggestion: don't let him in the bedrooms! I have a BT, she was hard to house train too. Try to keep him in one room; one that has an easy clean floor! At regular intervals, let him outside and stay out with him, if he does his business give lots of praise. try to ignore accidents in the house(don't shout at him) when he gets the hang of it then let him anywhere in the house. It may seem cruel to keep him in 1 room but in the long run you'll all be happier! Hope this helps. good luck.

My family has 3 boston terriers. We absolutely love them. My sister also has 2 bostons and bred Daisy and we bred one of ours. Combined we have 12 boston terrier puppies. One of our puppies is named Ruby too :) I hope I will be able to keep her, she is too cute! Bostons are the best dogs.

I love Boston Terriers. Unfortuantly, A LOT show up at shelters because people think they are lap dogs, but they can be extremely entergetic and people dump them off at shelters :( I own two myself

Unfortuanlty, I can't rescue them all :( That is why I really encourage people to look at their shelters for Bostons. A lot of shelter dogs are actually purebreds because people get them, wanting to show them off and they don't realise that the animal is REAL..I've rescued one Boston Terrier, Roxie, and just rehomed one that was going to get put down, so I do try :)
