@mrfatguywithagun no, I bought the mount from a guy on eBay. So far I've had zero issues with it, and it does not loosen at all from the forces of recoil.
going to buy a scope for my 1942 91/30 tomarrow, and noticed your scope is mounted in the rear site mount, did that mount come with your scope? and how did it hold up with the recoil?
UAG Mosin Nagant 2-7x32 Long Eye Relief Scope + New Generation Weaver Rail Mount + Scope Rings+ Lens Covers+Lens Cleaning Kit and the 1" Ring-3/8" Dovetail-High by NCstar are the ones that I got off of amazon.com. Work great!
cool scope i have the exact one, i use it for my ruger 10/22 .. i also have the mosin nagant also. the only thing is that this scope u have here is really far from your eye so it's hard to get the proper eye relief. but eitherway it's a nice rifle. and it was known for 1,000 yard hits in world war two.. it's a battle rifle..
and as far as the cosmolene for a rifle like this is always good to get that crap off prior to shooting it for the first time.
@RANGECOACH1 Thank you. I used a scout scope to keep it simple and inexpensive. I've taken it out to 430 yards so far. Also, I don't have the turned down bolt handle which I believe is necessary in order to clear a regular scope.
@brucekirk89 I got this one from Classic Arms. It was $90 plus shipping, $115 total. But I have a collector's license from the ATF which allows me to get them delivered directly to me. Otherwise you will need to pay extra to have it sent to a local FFL.
You didn't mention what type of scope mount is on the rifle. It looks great and it looks like an S & K mount as I have one of theirs, but for the M44/38 version. Works great. Glad that you got some positive results and the rifle looks great.
@ratagris21 Thanks. It's a custom made scope mount. It was bought from a gentleman on eBay - from what I recall I believe he is either the distributor or makes them himself. It's rock solid and even though the installation was a bit tedious, I'm glad I got it.
@pajax6 I guess I was comparing apples to oranges when I said that. I have shot a 2.5" group at 100 yards with it. Considering how old and inexpensive it is, and how many were cheaply pumped out during the war, I guess that is pretty accurate. Good point, sir.
@fordfanforlife777 yeah it had worked itself loose from the recoil. The retention clips are not very strong. I've pushed it back into place since this was filmed.
@popeskill It must have slid forward while I was shooting it. The clips that hold it in are weak and have lost most of their elasticity. Thanks for pointing it out - I pushed it back into place.
@mspeed1991 it's a custom mount made just for Mosins. I bought it from a guy on eBay that makes and sells them. No problems with movement from recoil - it's on there pretty good.
I'd chuch that scope mount and get a pair of good dovetail rings so your scope isn't so high off the barrel, but good on ya. The mosin nagant is by far the most economical rifle a US American can buy.
the wood barrel cover is way to forward btw

Your top wood needs to be moved back and butt up to the rear sight mount.

Looks like you need a thorough cleaning using either heat or mineral spirits with all the wood removed then completely cleaned.

What's with your hand guard?
Fordfanforlife777 2 months ago
lol your hand guard wood part is pushed way to far forward. The wood should go all the way to the iron sights.

@FoodFolksandGuns I use a hose clamp to keep mine in place. I use a strip of rubber under the clamp so it doesn't scratch the wood.
