In case nobody noticed, that is Duck Dunn (Bass) & Steve Cropper (Guitar) of Booker T. & the MGs backing him. Probably the Memphis Horns too but I don't know them.
Wanna bet it aint bout the Money? Try getting any of these singers and musicians to sing and play for free while the House makes tha Money~! We do what we do cause we Love it~, but gettin Paid Money for it ..thats a big part of why "We Love It".
We get paid to do what we love doing~! As it Should Be~!
@CarlSchwamberger: Actually none of them were badly off in the seventies. Steve Cropper was a millionaire and Duck Dunn was close to it. The horn section were the best in the business (still are). Today they are worth a fortune. Duck Dunn owned the record company that released the Clapton Unplugged album. It sold ten million copies in a year. Only superstars (Neil Young, Dylan,Clapton) can afford to hire them. Cropper gets publishing royalties for writing some of the biggest songs of the 60's.
@tomthefunky Tom..I was thinking of the artists making the guest apperances, like Thomas. Some were still very well off, but others were a bit down & out. From reading their bios you get the impression the Blues Bro gigs would make a real difference in their bank accounts. Sorry I did not make that clear in the earlier post here. I work part time in a organization that deals with a lot of older musicians & its common to see some high quality artisits just scraping by as they age.
WOW...Look at that outfit Rufus is wearing, OMG! with Mat Murphy and all! BTW, does anyone out there know what is happening w/ Matt? Haven't heard anything since his stroke. Heard he was pretty bad off. I used to jam w/him but lost touch.
His nephew floyd murphy jr. said they just did a gig in florida and he's doing well. He still plays like he used to but has to sit down instead of standing...thanks for asking.

the good " old blues brothers boys band" :-)))

This was a huge hit for Rufus. I still perform it solo on piano. The tune is strong
enough to get people off their butts even w/o a big band. This Blues Bros. Band is
the best all around blues band ever created.

The horn players are from The Blues Brothers...Bones, Blue Lou & Mr. Fabulous. Also, if I'm not mistaken, Cropper played on the original version.

A lot of these R&B musicians were badly off financially in the 1970s. I wonder if they were paid enough for these Blues Brothers covers & apperances.

"Blue" Lou Marini. In the movie, he played the dishwasher in Aretha's restaurant and Matt Murphy was the cook.
